On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

That first dogfight, once you got the advantage and were sort of on his six, he was defending amazingly, very impressive. The number of times he went in front of you but dodged your nose by a fraction of an inch, over and over again, insanely well played defense by him. Unfortunately it couldn’t last forever, but I think his maneuvering was spectacular and one of the funnest things I’ve seen in the channel.

F-14 fights never get old.
I am amazed by how you handle this old girl, the F14 shaking like a dryer on full rpm and still you avoid to stall out. Is there a stall warning alarm in jets?

Man, the F-14 is cool. Look at how the F-14 is consistently being able to go toe to toe with much more modern fighter aircraft and the F-14's in DCS are of the old variants, just imagine the newer models!

GS may deny this but... It's the F-14 and this pilot. He has the chops to manage this bird very well. I believe the first to use differential thrust or at least master it's capibities. Plus, it's a massive plane and he throws it around like a jet 2/3 smaller.
Curious, I wonder how many hours of estimated air time he has in it. GS ?....

I used to hate the F-14. It's all shaky and noisy and old seeming. But now I get it, for all its rough handling its' abilities are awesome once you get a feel for it. Other aircraft are like "this fast, this maneuverable", but the F-14 be anything depending on how you handle it.
They're making newer models? Or is it like an "upgraded systems" situation?
They got so close to each other in that last dogfight that it was almost Maverick-and-Goose-keeping-up-foreign-relations close.
The tomcat sounds like my ambulance with 140,000 miles on Albuquerque right roads with all the rattles and shakes.
Love how you put the Tomcat into a fight it didnt necessarily want to be in and knocked it out of the park! And the Rafale driver really put up a great defense each time too, respect for him as well!
This fight was a thing of beauty. Tremendous demonstration of mastery. Extraordinary.

It would be interesting that you switch with the jets, apparently the Rafale's pilot isn't using the full capacities of the plane. You're good, so it would be interesting to see you in both aircraft in each video to figure out the real strength of the jets. Also please more content with the Rafale!

Precisely. As the old saying goes; " It's not the arrow, it's the Indian".
In this case it is also the plane, because the fact F-14 is not fly-by-wire and its flight characteristics allows a pilot to do more tricks and push the Tomcat to the limit if he knows well the Tomcat, a thing modern fighters with fly-by-wire don't allow to a pilot.
Came for the tomcat vid, was not disappointed. Awesome work as always GS - loved watching you getting the big girl to dance at a stand still!

Yeah, that Rafale definitely does have maneuverability on its side, definitely really beneficial for BFM. F-14 has a lot of speed, so that comes in handy with BVR.

Rafale is one of the only planes that can take on a Flanker in a battle of looks. Gorgeous airframe.

Quite interesting watching this dogfight, `cause I heard of this anecdote long, long time ago when the French Rafales had DACT with a US CVBG airwing that happened to have a mix of Tomcat, Hornet, and Super Hornet squadrons onboard. Tomcats were supposedly the ones easier to kill while both Hornets, particularly the legacy Hornet were the ones giving the French much trouble.
Then again, it`s just an anecdote, so plenty of salt is required.

One thing that is preposterous about the F-14, is the forward quarter visibilty. Those huge cockpit struts covers up a critical amount of solid angles from the pilot's view that makes an manuverable uncooperative bandit pointlessly difficult to put in the hud.

I'd love to see you do a pilot/RIO side-by-side video with a friend flying back seat so we can see both screens at once, if that's possible. I know that's pretty technically complex, but it would make for a really interesting perspective.

I have always wanted to fly the tomcat in a sim like DCS. It looks like it would be fun as hell.Great video GS Love the Tomcat content.
Even against a late 4th-gen fighter like the Rafale, the F-14 still has fangs.
Quick tip, you can gain some extra speed and altitude if you keep your flaps up then dump them mid turn if you need the extra lift.

You've gotten real decent with differential thrust it'd be an interesting fight with a 2v2 on player trying differential thrust on their planes to keep it interesting

Hey GS, I notice you include the tobii eye tracker in your system specs. Is that something you’re using in conjunction with Track IR or is it just up there in case you decide to use it instead of track IR?
I want to see what you can do with a F-14 without "breaking" it (flaps, etc).
that would require flying the f14 at a slower speed which hardly anyone does
