On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Hry

Day 157 of asking for A-10 vs F-14 split throttle
I liked his perfect fox-4!
Love the videos :)
I-16 vs P-47 please
We're you using differential thrust in the F-15? Is that wut you were pointing at? Didn't know the Eagle 🦅 could do that.
F15 - ''Too close for missiles, switching to wings''
F**king hilarious.
Turn and burn.
“Too close for missiles… * pulls out a knife *”
If you can't Dodge it, RAM it
6:31 unlike the F-15, the Tomcat unfortunately needs both its wings to fly.
Nice😂
So, the F15 can be used as a Japanese sword
F 14s has flown without one wing
@cvillalobos27 the F-15 Katana is a legendary name
@@remain_ so much that Suzuki used the name in one of its motorcycles
Last thing I expected to see in this fight was a melee kill 😂
JASDF putting katana on their pylons.
I really like it when you switch the aircraft you dogfight in. It gives the video more variety and it’s more educational since it demonstrates how you should fight in/against both jets.
That 2 circle with F15 having a speed advantage going in, was a pretty impressive move
Yeah. Nut maybe the F15 was a bit to greedy at this point.
9:09 this move by the f-14 was insane
6:25 bro really tried to pull the "glorious nippon steel" meme and it worked
Brute4you lived up to his name with that Fox-4.
Also, that F-15 livery is awesome! I had to look it up and it's Japan's Air Self-Defence Force's 60th anniversary livery. They have quite a few anniversary liveries that all look sexy.
JSDF livery is fantastic.
I just love how needing to avoid potentially heavy structural dmg or 2 wings in order to maintain flight are just... Suggestions... for the F-15, which it can promptly ignore and still come back just fine.
That final confrontation at very low speeds, WWI style, Sopwith Camel vs. Fokker Dr.1, was AMAZING.
You should get the plate numbers of that F-15…he really did a hit and run on you 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I hope he has insurance
Using your wing to cut the other guys wing off counts as two kills. We needed a tie breaker.
These close in fights are like having a sword fight with each opponent having 10 foot long heavy steel swords.
7:08 holy crap, that's probably the first time I see an aircraft survive mid-air without any damage at all
Growling's knowledge is just absurd, love to see it.
Is that considered a knife kill?!😂😅
So the F-15 is like a Volvo, not a scratch after a collision 😅
Joe Hoser Satrapa, whose gun cam you showed in the opening, told my dad that the F-15 was an amazing aircraft, but not what the Navy needed in a fleet defense interceptor.
Dude, you spin me out with your knowledge of aircraft and dogfighting. You sound like a real pilot. By the way, that F-15 looks sick. I was always curious as to why the F-14 shakes like that. Seems like it's about to fall apart. I know the F-14 will literally tare itself apart if you make it, but man, that must be uncomfortable for the pilot. Not sure of you have talked to an F-14 pilot before? Two beautiful big jets man. That's one way to kill someone in a jet. Crash into them😂
Great video again man, and thanks for teaching. That F-15 really did look nice man.
great video, how that F15 was unscathed after the collision is beyond me
What about a modernized F-14 with AIM-260s vs MiG-31 in BVR?
Yes please!!
Regarding your closing comment about hitting the Tomcat broadside closing your eyes...
A Legacy Hornet pilot who was also the XO of TOPGUN as well as a Hornet Squadron Commanding Officer once said: "The best thing to be said about the Tomcat is that it looks very pretty in a gunsight, its wings nicely spread."
~~ Captain Carroll "Lex" LeFon
Hornet pilots 🙈😆
I heard contrary stuff from Jungle, ex F-14A-D snd F-18A-F pilot and top gun instructor in WVR...
Pilots have in genetal a lot ho tell.
Tomcat vs. Eagle, time to get a six pack, some chips, and enjoy the show.
@@possiblepilotdeviation5791just try harder!
@@possiblepilotdeviation5791not with that attitude
Didn't expect a perfectly executed fox-4 attack...
The greatest sibling rivalry of all time.
6:24 Incredible ramming... and Jester RIP - didn't eject 🤣🤣🤣
Another great battle!!
Props to both pilots!!!
Got the F14 last week during the DCS sale. Very hard to fly....it likes to just fall out of the sky. I also somehow recreated the flat spin scene from Top Gun lol And for the life of me, I can't figure out how to choose the Phoenix. Everything says "weapon select switch" but it doesn't seem to work. I don't get the SP/PH option.
Hmm is your HUD set to A/A mode? Do you see the SW option when you select the Sidewinders? Is the HUD decluttered?
It's just hitting a 2nd time on the sparrow button, il alterns between sparrows and phoenixes.
sounds like your getting too slow?? what was situation when it fell out of sky?? as with all planes practice, practice....
I can't remember the keybind but I think it's weapon selector depress *for when your on the SP/PH selector*, also your probably pulling to high of aoa maneuvers I barely stall the F-14
It is pretty cool how the cat moves. But at the same time the seeing the 15 counter is crazy.
This is probably my favorite, most informative dogfight. o7 GS
Potential F-14 tactic to force an overshoot idea - use manual wing sweep in the opposite of the usual way you'd use it. Use it to close the wings instead of extending them, when someone's at your six. And cut throttle, and pull up hard only after (and if) the enemy overshoots.
The sudden lack of lift from the reduced wing cross-section combined with lack of thrust should mean the F-14 drops like a rock below the enemy's nose, forcing the opponent out front. You'd have to bring the wings back out quickly and re-engage throttle so you can then position for a kill. Pulling up hard once you close the wings and cut the throttle means the elevators will likely still tilt the nose up, readying you for re-engagement of throttle and extending the wings again. In a way it would be like a weird variant of the Cobra maneuver used to get someone to overshoot.
It's basically the antithesis of how Maverick used the manual wing sweep in Top Gun Maverick. And it would have the benefit of dropping under the enemy's nose, out of sight, and messing with their situational awareness. So even if it doesn't work to put you immediately on their six, it's an opportunity to switch tactics while you're somewhere beneath their underbelly - giving you an opportunity to ditch to a two-circle or something.
All just a theory in my brain, but I'd like to see it tried.
Sometimes I think the only reason you miss those close gun shots is you're shooting as if you were in a dfferent aircraft where the gun is on the other side of the fuselage.
Snazzy low-speed flying by both there.
Good episode!
Was waiting for "Im going to hit the brakes, he'll fly by" 😂😂😂 Jester is dead ❤
There's a two ton difference between the F-14 and F-15. I saw an F-14on the deck of the USS Intrepid in NYC, and was amazed at how tiny it was.
Does the Japanese F-15 come with a katana?
Fight towards the strength of the platform.
A dance of giants
What an amazing display of dexterity shown by both in this video, I love it
I love the sound of the tomcats gun.
What Mach number is best for ramming speed?
all of them
At the Museum of Flight in Seattle they had an F14 parked outside next to a B-17. The F-14 looked just as big as the WW2 heavy bomber.
Content has been outstanding per usual. I would love to see you sprinkle in some WWII Spitfire or P51 too
Love it when round 1 was awesome, you check time remaining and the video’s not even half over.
The rare hand to hand air kill, this one is special.
hey GS! Great video... Have you done a dogfight video between the F35 and F15 before? that's be a cool one to see
Ok, so the F-15 can knife kill. Never knew that.
It is called faulty DCS damage modelling.
Day 1 of B-52H vs TU-95.
More of The Greatest Rivals--
AV-8B VS F-35B
J-10 VS SU-27
MIG-29K VS SU-33
Please fly Planes on the left, guns only!🙏👍
Please create a scenario with NGAD, SR-72, and B-21! All three 6th gen aircraft in one vid!🙏👍
A lot of it would depend on which variant of either aircraft you're wanting to compare on the question of "which is better?" And this will relate heavily to the F-14A vs F-14B, as I don't think there is much difference between the models of the F-15 that came before the F-15C... if someone does have more info on the F-15's development, I'd be happy to see it...
But if it's F-14A to F-15C, the F-15 is the better aircraft, mostly as its engines are more reliable and the threat of a major stall in the engine isn't a threat. The early Tomcat could do a lot of things, but those issues with compressor stalls was enough raise issues that would be dangerous to have while in the air and flying at high speeds. The F-15 may have had some accidents of its own, but not at the same rate as the F-14A. However, by the time you get to the F-14B, I'd argue that both aircraft were essentially equal to each other, even with the Eagle being a younger design, largely as both planes were now using the same engine. With that engine change, the F-14B didn't have the stall issues that the F-14A had.
The F-15C and F-14B did not use the same engine; the F-15C were (eventually) all powered by the F100-PW-220 engine (23,500ish lbs of thrust each), vs the F-14B with F110 GE engines (same engine as early "big-mouthed" F-16Cs, 27,000lbs of thrust each). The F-15C's engines (same as "small-mouthed" Vipers) were optimized for high altitude and high speed, but produces much less thrust than the F110s in a typical BFM environment (but it helps that the Eagle is much lighter than the Tomcat).
Fortunately for the F-14, the F-15C was never upgraded with more powerful engines. The heavier, draggier F-15E with the F100-229 (follow-on to the -220s in the -15C) engines can easily supercruise in a "clean" configuration.
@@RLX71 - Interesting... And thank you for the clarification on the engines...
Though, my key point on the Tomcat's development still stands. The F-14A, while it could dogfight well, it didn't have an engine system that was intended for that role, and thus created problems related to those engine stalls that could happen when those engines were stressed...
And from some of the articles that I've seen... I think that also came along with the development of the radar system the early Tomcat used and then the early Phoenix missiles. In pure theory, if the system worked, the Tomcat may never need to see a lot of close-range dogfighting and thus could gain air superiority at range, and thus could afford an engine that wasn't built to cope with it.
The fact that the F-14A didn't have these issues with every case that they had these stalling issues was a major problem for the aircraft. Once it got the new engines in the F-14B, it was more reliable and thus didn't have the problems the F-14A had...
Wonder how a modern F15 modeled with fly wire will do in fights, recent demos showed impressive performance.
Please refer to the EX. I am wondering how a FBW F-14 would behave...
@@dreaminknightyea EX would be it as well but referring to the F15qa demo from Dubai
@@nospeed3yeah agree. I also saw some vids. The SA, the Qatar and the EX 2are however very similar versions (with difference in country specific SW and sensor suite) with EX being the latest one.
@@dreaminknight The difference is that a FBW F-15 exists...
@growlingSidewinder, that was the best fight I have seen so far I believe. And iv'e seen all of yours i believe. Did you use your signle engine to get better position? It was briliant, I always wanted to such thing in a fight. keep up the good job!
digital camo on that F15J is dope af
Ooh, jousting (like round 2) would be a new, interesting new mode to pit aircraft against each other.
7:11 that’s one way to win a dogfight! Ramming speed!
You removed his wing in the first fight so he removed yours in the second.
This was definitely some sexy combat.
Thanks!
Thank you very much
love the way he just flew threw you lol splash down
That F15 made an embraer legacy 600 move on the F14
Gs and his F-!4s - ya gotta love it! 😄
"They're big aircraft that you would't expect to be able to dogfight," :cough: Pierre Sprey, John Boyd :cough:
day 5 of asking for f-35b vs harrier in a dogfight
Day 6 of asking for a harry dog. 🐶
The harrier would prob take it because the vectoring is only on at vtol for F35. In reality it wouldn't matter because f35 can send missiles 180* off boresight.
@@EluderatnightVIFFing the Harrier is more of a last ditch surprise like the Cobra maneuver; it's not recommended for several reasons, among them being that it turns off the gun
I’d like to see that too.
FINALLY an actually decent request.
I know I haven't commented in a while, but I would still love to see the lightnings duke it out.
Wow, the acrobatics were beautiful in this one
Have you seen the new flight videos of the f15ex? Its able to pull maneuvers like never before. Its a whole new aircraft inside a tried and true platform.
He did a midair collision kill, and flew off. Has that ever happened?!
Google F15 lands with one wing.
Dodge and Boeing announced a new partnership showcasing their new F-15EX "RamJet Edition" with an Eddie Bauer interior, citing this video.
So the answer is, pilot's skill is the determining factor
some sharp sushi knives on that f-15 there
F-15 is 2nd match was like "oh i can come back home without a wing... let's try that !"
I love the tomcat. As most of us agree it's the childhood fantasy. But having them both to try in dcs I know what I pick every time and it's not even the f15c. I'm a mud hen guy and while it will NEVER do fight, it'll see, kill and giggle about it before the tomcat even knew what was happening. Even with the old apg. But, I do love seeing the big cat 😋
Could you do the ME-109 k4 vs the F15C Eagle. Thx for all the awesome videos. Love the work and keep it up
Thank you very much
6:25 i see the japanese air force are now using their aircraft as Katanas
Yeah because they now have the F-35 as superior fighter 😂
GS is really a master in flying the F-14!!!
T O M C A T S all the way!
Hey GS! Was wondering if you’d potentially ever do lineage dogfights, I.E. mig15vs19 then 19vs21 and 21vs29 so on and so fourth for soviet and US. Think that would be real interesting
Lets go another tomcat video love to see it!!!!
Request / proposal: Fly the exactly same scenario (like intercepting a gaggle of bombers with with escorts) in two (or even more) different aircraft - and measure which aircraft you complete the mission the quickest with.
I love the Japanese paint scheme on that f15
That is the pettiest f-15 pilot in DCS lol!
You have to acknowledge that the F14 is a beautiful looking aircraft. One that you can make to look stunning in a paint job livery.
Brilliant
Well, that's one way to win a dogfight LOL!
F15 gets a melee kill on a f14. 😂 awesome
Japanese F-15: "Get me closer! I want to hit him with my sword!"
6:50 didn't know you can melee kill in DCS 😃
Watching that Tomcat dance was incredible
Hey wassup I love your videos and they got me to love military aviation. Jets are really cool but I kinda miss the ww2 aviation is it possible for you to make a video on ww2 aviation.
7:00 IPPON! ⚔🤚
A Tomcat is a mature, uncut male domestic house cat that actively mates with several females in a given territory.
Could you potentially do a dogfighting tactics video in the future?
Another one for the weird death videos!
Within visual range, switching to fox 2s, to close for missiles, switching to guns, to close for guns, switching to plane
That third fight was like a dance.
Now, I would like to see the F-14 Tomcat dogfight the Panavia Tornado (that is if DCS has a Tornado). I think it'd be cool to see two different variable sweep winged planes fight each other. I'd say the two would make for a good fight.
Tornado is basically a strike/interdiction aircraft. Even the interceptor variant (ADV) is not conceived for dogfight. High wing loading (ideal for low altitude penetrations, not for tight turns), engines not optimized for the kind of treatment you would expect in a dogfight. That would be an unfair confrontation.
Fox-4 sometimes best option. Lucky!! 😂
4:46 in, Yeah, I think he could land that F15 without that wing,(wink), but I don't think he'll be able to put up much of a fight without it.
The wrap on the F15 is beautiful.
“That’s why they call them sky slicers!”
LOL what colors was that F-15 in when it did the old ram kill?
