    Leon's objection was granting Colby a title shot after having sat out for two years and coming off of a win against Jorge. He only accepted after the UFC told him he doesn't call the shots. If he beats Shavkat I'm going to form the opinion Leon is a lot more special than most of realized. He could even represent something new. His build is very unique, and his footwork is a problem for people and distance control and timing and smoothness in his striking.
    Maybe since he just finished a grueling high pitch build up to fight one of the best fighters ever and his knowing his next was against the next best in Colby, he just wanted to take his time and get past those two fighters. Increase his chances. I think he's on a roll now. Confidence is sky high, he's getting better.

Quit being so emotional about Colby for two seconds and just look at the lies coming from Leon. The UFC having a British world champion defending his belt in the UK is a huge win for the UFC they didn’t do it exclusively for Leon. It was a big win for the UFC. Leon said in his interview he does not care who the UFC wants next he just beat Usman twice and Colby and is on a 13 fight win streak and will fight anyone they decide. His point was why would Belal get any special treatment from the UFC if he didn’t. He wasn’t more deserving than Leon or even equally… YET so he will fight who the UFC deem deserving. He won’t be the one giving Belal special treatment. That’s not his job In Leon’s mind. He has said yes to everyone in his career except Colby because he sat out for two years whilst others worked for their shot! That’s not mentioning the sucker punch from Jorge and Leon making no fuss about it except asking for an opportunity to settle it in the octagon which he wasn’t granted until it suited Jorge. Leon’s time now, Dana and the UFC should give him anything and everything he asks for. Also, the 5th round commentary was so foul, the man dominates Colby and the booth decide they’ll take away all credit from him. It’s insane the treatment he gets from the UFC. Seems to me whatever Leon’s plans are they’ve been perfect up to now. After going 5 rounds with Usman in March, waiting until December to next fight doesn’t seem unreasonable. Plus it gave Colby longer to stew on it.

    I'm pretty sure Leon had to rematch Usman because KU had been the champion for a while, had a great fight tbf, had previously beat Leon, and lots of people thought Usman would walk the third fight and this UK upstart could be beaten in front of a UK crowd who would pay lots to watch - doubt very much it was anything to do with Dana doing something nice for Leon. Am happy for Leon winning his way and growing into a classy, methodical fighter.

      I like Leon (and I'm a Brit so I'm somewhat biased towards him) but I don't think Chael is out of line saying he's not a draw, he's quite measured both in and out of the ring, which gains respect but not necessarily excitement. Leon vs Belal is a tough sell for a headliner although it's definitely the right fight to make if we're being fair.

    Why should Leon not get the chance to move up like many others have done whilst retaining the belt? Hes beat Usman twice and now the guy Dana himself had said would have been champion if Usman didn't exist. Leon had to do more than anyone else to get a title shot and now hes defended his belt twice against the two guys of the division he deserves his money fight and chance to two belts. I think if he wants to go and challenge Strickland or the winner of that fight than hes earned that right.

    • @jean-pierre9698
      @jean-pierre9698 Před 5 měsíci +1

      That's not how it works. The main concern is that you're basically stalling two complete divisions for two guys who didn't even clean up their own divisions yet. If leon wins there's basically a division that will probably not have a title fight for a whole damn year

    • @RonniePTexan
      @RonniePTexan Před 5 měsíci

      You saying that Leon had to do "more than anyone else" to get his title shot is hilarious! 😂😂
      Leon hasn't fought anyone younger than 35 years old in the past 5+ years! He got his title shot after barely escaping a loss against a much smaller much slower and much older Nate Diaz! Leon talking about who "deserves" a title shot is rich.
      Also let's go through his ducking and stalling this past year. In March he said that Colby didn't deserve it but Masvidal did! Then for months he said that Colby didn't deserve it but Belal did. Now all of a sudden he's saying that Belal doesn't deserve a title shot!
      The UFC always schedules fights 3+ months in advance. Izzy vs Strickland was considered a "short notice fight" for Strickland because he only had 7 weeks to prepare. Yet the king of ducking and stalling, Leon himself said that he told the UFC that he was ready in September but claims that the UFC was making him wait till the December card! He gave the stupid excuses about how fight cards were all filled etc.
      Leon's fans aren't known for being a brilliant bunch, but his own words prove that he's all about stalling and ducking while waiting for the perfect matchups.

    Fights are hard to make for myriad of reasons. But, when it does happen it’s always said be ready at all times and not sometimes. Colby had his shot whether it took a while or it was fast. He talked allot and even below the belt and he got tuned up for the entirety of the bout. At the end he went into his character but it didn’t work because he has 3 loses in championship fights. He is a great fighter but he isn’t champion great compared to the fighter he fought who held the championship. Leon was put on hold against Masvidal and for the belt. Now he is the champion and he has to do the opposite of what happened to him. Sometimes people are petty. It’s life. You want him to be different and he won’t. So someone beat him and the new champion can rule his way as well.

Expecting him to get on a plane and fight not knowing if he would be able to get back into the UK to be with his family when the world was locking him down, removing him from the rankings because he didn’t want to fight an unranked guy when he was ranked no 4 in the world. The UFC has shit on Leon every chance they’ve had. Let’s not pretend Dana putting the trilogy fight on in London was out of the kindness of his heart. But I didn't view the Colby fight as that. To me it felt like ''Colby will sell the fight, you beat him and your star rises higher''. Because Leon wasn't particularly a draw. Colby has been a pain to deal with for the UFC at times. I didn't feel like they wanted Colby to be champ, if anything I felt they wanted Leon to beat Colby.
