Ex-U.N. Official Craig Mokhiber: Israel Must Be Held Accountable for Violating Ceasefire Resolution

We speak with former top U.N. human rights official Craig Mokhiber after the Security Council voted Monday on a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all remaining hostages. The United States abstained from the vote, allowing it to pass after nearly six months of obstructing similar efforts at the Security Council. Mokhiber, who resigned in October over the U.N.'s failure to address rights violations in Israel-Palestine, says “Israel has the world record” for violating U.N. resolutions and is certain to violate this ceasefire resolution, as well, even though it expressed “the very broad consensus across the global community against Israel's onslaught on Gaza.” Israel continued bombing Gaza after Monday’s vote, and top Israeli leaders have vowed to continue the war that has killed over 32,000 Palestinians so far. “What this genocide has done is it has revealed the weaknesses, the political compromises, the moral failings of the United Nations and other international institutions,” says Mokhiber, who adds that continued pressure from civil society is needed to end the bloodshed.

The United Nations itself actually has no troops,.it maintains no standing military force of its own.
Those "peace keeper" soldiers in Blue Helmets youve seen are military and police ( as well as civil engineers ) sent by other countries and given "operational control" by the UN to function in that "peace keeper" role during said deployment.
As an examples,.France and or Spain, Italy Canada and the US or other countries would have to volunteer a portion of their militaries and have the UN give them Blue helmets and then deploy them as peace keepers between Israeli forces and Palestine.

1972 ICJ Namibia Advisory opinion says that because of Article 25 , Chapter 7, citation isn’t necessary to make a resolution 2728 is binding . That is seen as the key authority in the Security Council. This resolution is binding according to international law. The U.S. Ambassador is wrong

Ceasefire is bilateral, have the real war criminals, surrender, and return the hostages. Those will be the expected conditions. Hamas has been the party breaking all of the International laws; shooting from hospitals, schools, taking hostages(yes, even Jewish ones IS against the International law, mass rape and mass murder on Oct 7, stealing aide and using women and children as human shields(Gazans) Israel, has had to deal with all of this within an Urban warfare setting but since Hamas is the instigator, not Israel, they must not be expected to ceasefire while they are being attacked and their people are being raped, murdered and held in a dungeon somewhere. The UN is part of the problem by ignoring Oct 7, sexual violence at mass scale, burning alive entire families while laughing and posting on social media. Or perhaps Israel should be expelled from The UN, similar to apartheid South Africa being expelled from The UN four decades ago. If Israel refuses to abide by a UN Security Council binding resolution, then it is in violation and therefore not following UN rules, hence the need to be expelled or at least suspended from The UN until it obeys the law of this binding resolution calling for a cease fire.
Israel should be held accountable for all those innocent children and civilians who lost their lives and who are suffering in many different ways.
