This is an MTA problem. How does it become the problem of those who do not use the subway? Congestion pricing is just a money grab, the subways will remain in the same unsafe condition as they are now. If the MTA enforced fines on those who do pay. They wouldn't have money issues.

If you're a doctor, teacher, police officer, nurse, etc. You're now going to have to pay just to go to work. Can't wait to see how the union contracts are going to be for people who work in Manhattan. Cause i know the unions are going to demand a arm and a leg pay increase. To cover the extra cost of driving into work. This extra pay increase will also go to workers who take public transportation and not drive. So this will be even more pay for them. And if people are mad that the price of a beacon egg and cheese is a lot now. Just wait until congestion pricing kicks in.

Except most people already use transit and cars are very much a choice, and they will be even more so with the improvements in bus services that will inevitably result. @@unconventionalideas5683, the MTA have been singing that song about improving train and bus services every time they wanted to increase the fare .
Out of all the fare increases over the decades the only thing that the MTA has done was to build the 2nd Ave train line that only benefits a small section of the city .
They have been working on the " L " line for years .
The MTA is an unaccountable money pit that isn't really a public agency , and it is more a private company .
The MTA being more a private company is what allows them to thumb their noses at any state and city request to audit their books .
In no damn way should a semi private company like the MTA should be erecting tolls on city public streets that they do not service and repair .
NYC residents pay a city tax that goes to the city budget to finance the NYC Department of Transportation that is responsible for road repairs and traffic signs and traffic devices maintenance , also NYC tax money goes towards financing the NYC Department Of Sanitation that is responsible for cleaning the streets and removing snow off the streets .
The MTA do not allocate any budget money towards any of those street services , but yet they are allowed to erect tolls on those very same city streets 🤔 .
The Mayor and the City Council has failed to represent NYC tax paying residents interest and they just rolled over for this highway robbery by the MTA .
If only they had showed as much political passion and action as they did for the illegal aliens 😡😡😡 .

Every violent incident on public transit becomes a news story. The reality is it’s much safer to take transit than to drive a car. Motor vehicles are a leading cause of death. Getting murdered on the subway, while horrific when the rare incident happens, is very much not. It’s just blown way out of proportion by the media.

I wish they could put a time on it, say rush hour maybe? Like a 3-7 thing? Or like… the streets that get congested? The West Side highway is barely a highway and the Fdr has some of the scariest narrowest lanes out there. It’s gonna cause accidents, it’s going to cause traffic. The MTA does not feel safe? And overpoliving is not a solution
