Batteries don't like being stored and having them drain like that, they're meant to be used and recharged.

@@justinl2009 the main issue is the capacity of the batteries being made have to be rolled so tightly that the chance of 1 side of the electrolyte cracking greatly increases, older phones never had this problem
Sounds like a personal problem that they shouldn't be taking out on us. Just letting that rage build up and then exploding one day isnt healthy. These batteries need therapy to learn how to cope with and communicate what they don't like before it becomes a problem!

After watching this I made a joke to the group chat about blowing up after buying a Samsung. Turns out, my friends' dad's Samsung a few years ago with the note 7 blew up in an airport, they replaced it, and that one proceeded to also blow up. They were able to sue though, apparently.
The note 7 was the model known to blow up. Samsung had to recall it after launch.
@@thatneo4133 Yeah, they sent him two replacements though I guess before they were recalled. He got minor injuries apparently, which is probably how they were able to sue.

Yeah that note isn't supposed to open like that without a heat gun and prying. The battery isn't swollen... but it's hard to tell with your camera set up.

The UK heatwave thing is not an excuse at all for phones to blow up. I surf for hours at a time in Australia and leave my phone in my car (usually parked in the sun) without any issues (often gets to 40 degrees celsius). Do this a few times a week at least as well lol If my battery hasn't even been damaged in anyway from that then there should be no excuse imo

this is what happens when you let the device sit on a self for too long...the battery is no longer ever plugged in and maintained by ur phone...and with it completely dying for so long causes issues

i put my phone under my pillow but it's an iphone so I guess it won't blow up? It doesn't really get very hot, only if I'm using it a bunch while it's charging. Not really a problem for me, though.

A bit late, but no matter what phone you have this is a dumb thing to do. Because all it takes is some bug, app, or a bug in an app to be open that heats the phone up for an issue to start there.
