I have the ‘14 SDR with only 900 miles. I agree with everything you’ve said in this video 100%. Keep up the content! I’m waiting on my dual Austin racing under seat exhaust to come in. And I’ll do the SAS delete and rottie airbox as well as the crash protection you’ve mentioned.

You’re right on the sound aspect. When I test road the 2017 it was an amazing experience, but the sound didn’t live up to the performance.
Yeah really needs a pipe, very happy with how its sounds now lovely! Not sure it can compete with Tuono sound though but its close!!
Point to the Tuono on the sound front, but I sold my Tuono 1100 for the 1290 and I’m not complaining.
Try some Dunlop D211's on the beast @ 31 PSI front and back. Dangerously close to getting a 2016 beast or MT10 SP........very very hard choice
I did the Rottweiler stage 5 on mine 2016-SDR it has turned the bike into a Rocket 🚀

Performace bikes......Top man.....although im still big fan of Mr Seeley and co with sister mag PSB.....that bike looks an absolute hoot..and agreed with cool air wheelie performance..

Lamb Chop Rides i had nuda 900 bars in My garage ...look at Sd 2017 bars or rizoma . By the way i go exactly the same speed with Sd 1290 as My former tuono v4 on most tracks when suspension setting is right and with rearseats . Cheers .
Your a hoot mate, I have the MT10 SP and the wife has a STRX she's looking to upgrade and the beast is top of hers ( and my) list, great review.
I think the 2017 is worth every penny because of the new electronics!
+Patrick Kirk yes it's the main difference between them. The electronics are good but worth another 4k over an older one I'm not so sure...
Lamb Chop Rides I agree, I love my 2016. And the extra thousands for the 2017 isn't worth it to me. Especially considering I ride with tc off anyways😁 plus I love the standard tach, the digital doesnt make me smile.
Got the little oil weep sorted, it was an o ring on the gear position sensor 😊
My Evil twin is now put to bed, just some spannering and cleaning to look forward to.
That said I’m at the bike show this weekend so .........

Lamb Chop Rides I’m looking forward to a peek at the 790. I like the adventure s but when I picked my bick back up I was just blown away AGAIN. I’m running an Akra without dB killer and a bodis link pipe and yes that noise!!! Addictive

790 looks good but its very small, Im hoping to get on the UK launch if I can swing it! Think its going to be priced reasonably too from what KTM have said to me.
Great vid again !!!! 😱😱😱 Lovely machine 😍😍😍💪, I've had the same squiky noisy clutch on previous bike so I've bleeded & replaced the fluid with "Ipone Racing" mineral liquid and switched to an "Oberon" alloy slave cylinder. 👍👍👍 Waiting for the next opus, ride safe ✌️✌️✌️
Yeah Im hoping fluid change and new slave will sort it, also quick shifter will help as dont have to touch it then hehe.
Still after an Acro for my 1290r '17 palte. DAMN!!! SO EXPENSIVE!!
Yeah they are very expensive, thats one of the reasons I wanted a used one with it already fitted

A mod people should do to their 1290 SD is mounting a rearl cowl if the 790Duke Prototype. That would be totally bonkers!
Please do the How To Service your Superduke video! I will be getting the new one next month and I really want to get into doing my own maintenance on my bikes.

u should have bought ktm 690 smc its like 701 but with more low end.
Interesting and fun as always Chopster. Question. Big super naked that's comfy ish for touring and has a decent is tank range? Does the KTM SD fit the bill, or would you recommend something else? Budget is £10K ish else I'd have a SD GT. Cheers fella!
+HeadhunterUK007 yes I would say it does.. hoping to put that to the test next year! GT of course is untimate touring SD but even without all the wind protection think the 1290 R could still do it, soft luggage is available too. The MT10 touring could be a good option as a cheap alternative??

Hi Tim, the 701 is fantastic I loved that bike. But I wanted something I could do tours on and do longer trips simple as that. Great as it is you cant do 100's of miles on one, well I guess you could but you get my point. Plus I just really wanted the SD thats it really. If I could have kept the 701 I would have but cant afford both :-(

I thought that ecu’s were so tuneable these days that power commanders are obsolete?
I know you had one on the husky, and it made a giant difference, could I get the same results taking my hyper somewhere that could fiddle with the ecu on a dyno? Or should I get a power commander?
(I’ve got an end can, performance air filter with aftermarket bigger intake)

Its a good point, but some benefits on a PC like being able to switch maps, quickly return it to stock without leaving a trace you've had it tuned (warranty issues). Plus I want the Power Commander quick shifter also which plugs in and gives added functionality. But your right flashing also achieves the same thing but you cant then add your own maps etc, PC is still more flexible

CHOPSY In terms of bar height and peg height is the superduke same as the superduke GT ?
+StuOnTwo it's a good question, I know the GT uses the rear mounting point on the yokes and the R uses the forward position. I fancy the GT bars could be slightly wider but no real obvious difference from what I remember..
