The scene was really well directed. Just look at how Julian’s mom behaved here and we will all understand why he was a bully. Nobody was born a bully or a harasser, they were raised into one

In the book his mother is actively antagonistic towards thr favt that Auggie is at the school and always refers him as having "special needs" and emailing the principal to kick him out because they are not an "inclusion" school. @@koolaiddudeawesome9850 I’m reading the book too in school and she is cruel
@@emmabennett7699 Sometimes less is more when it comes to visual mediums like movies. You can literally sum up what you said here in the book, in that scene alone. Her kid told another kid to die, based on his looks. She downplayed the situation as a kid hurting a kid's feelings and even that context makes it sound worse than she was trying to make it like. Then she admits to creating the photo that started the mess in the first place, as well as makes her bullying kid look like the victim, in turn making herself look like the victim, showing exactly what kind of cruel person she is that the book describes her to be. A cruel prejudiced sociopath who cares more about her self image than she does about the wellbeing, behavior and education of her son. I didn't even have to read this comment to know that. I just knew because I seen this stuff at my own school when I was young.

What I like about Mr. Tushman is that while he disciplines Julian for the abuse he inflicted on Augie, his look of disgust as they leave is not about Julian's behaviour but about how he is troublemaker due to lousy parenting. That's why he accepts his apology, because he's sorry for the kid being stuck with foolish parents who justify his wrongdoings.
As a teacher myself, I hate bullying and I don't tolerate bullying in my class, but I wish I could yell and do things I'm not allowed to do to a bully but I can't, we can't even transfer or expell a student that is being threatening to another student until something bad happens, we really need to review our policies on how to handle a bully and their parents on behalf of the bullied student and their families..
yes please
Expelling them is a surface solution. They'll just go to another school and begin their shenanigans again. But this time theyll be more angry ( because they had to go to a new schoool).
I think another issue is that his parents were a bad influence together because part of me wonders if the mother actually reflects some of the actions that both she and her son took. Kids see what their parents do and think it's OK to do the same thing when his mother treated them like the kid didn't exist by taking him out of the photos. Part of me wishes that they had another scene where the mother saw that they took his son out of the photo to kind of make her realize her actions a little bit. But I have to say I've never experienced bullying but I have experienced isolation because of both parents and children when I was little and I respect teachers to show that it's OK to be different and to make other kids realize that that's what makes the world better not be in the same
I've said this before and I'll say it again until people get it; we need to bring back the paddle. Kids don't like being in trouble. They especially don't like it when that trouble comes with pain. The Paddle? It worked then, it'll work now.
@Josh Roberts yes I was bullied in primary school and my mam told me to stand up for myself and not let them wall all over me..only trouble was I got suspended and not them

Parents who support their child for bullying others are ten times worse.

in the spin off book "auggie and me" he did call auggie and tell him that he was sorry for what he did.
I love how cool, calm and collected the Principal was to these parents with their snide and harmful comments towards him and Auggie. He displayed amazing composure and took the higher road.

I love how the principal did his absolute best to understand this situation from all sides, the victim's side, the bully's side and any other sides that might have been taken into account. Yes
More he‘s embarrassed about his mother for how she behave !
Thats why I love this movie. Instead of continuing to make him a bully the whole movie, they show why he’s the way that he is. When the notes are reflected to him, it shows him how he is, and it absolutely destroy’s him in the process. It shows that we’re all human, and thats why I love this movie.
At least his father are feeling sorry, but on his mother, it's a different story.
if I had parents like that I'd call child services
They way Julian apologizes got me it shows that he is truly sorry for what he did
One of the best scenes of the movie. We see things not just from Auggie’s perspective, but also Julian’s. He realises the mistake he’s made & genuinely feels bad about it. We’re shown that Julian isn’t really a bad kid, but that he’s simply doing what he thought was normal having never known any other way thanks to his pompous & shortsighted parents.
It’s Mr Tushman who is true MVP in this scenario. He can see that it isn’t Julian’s fault the way he is, being gentle & soft spoken in reprimanding him. Even when Julian’s parents try to turn the tables to make their son look like the victim, he outwits them both with his both wise & witty words. Tushman remains calm despite the parents threatening him or when they degrade Auggie. It takes a great deal of strength for an adult not to lash out when a child is hurt, Tushman held it together incredibly well.

@@tochie-ugorji2021 yeah exactly, and Julien shouldn’t have acted the way he did but I guess you can only blame him so much considering his upbringing
Parents are supposed to teach their kids to not bully other kids but this mom doesn’t care, she’s the reason why Julian is like this
People like that shouldn't have children, especially if they do it for the wrong reasons, such as keeping up with the Joneses.

i heard a similar story in here, one guy was copying on a test in university, a teacher saw him and tell him that he wouldnt expel him but he will get a zero, the guy screamed that he knew a lot of important people, the teacher said that he knew more, the guy got expelled and need to get a lawyer because the teacher denounced him against the authorities
I once had a principal who screamed and yelled at the student who was bullying me. Now that I’m 24, I’m a high school teacher working for that same great man.
Edit: Thank you so much everyone for all the likes and comments. Faith in humanity restored.
Aw what lovely couple ♥️🤗

As a former bullied kid, respect
It’s true. I was the bully. And everyone clapped.
Had the same kind of principal. The bullying was so bad in our school though that most the bullies didn't care and even tried to get yelled yet because they knew that's all the principal had the power to do.
Got even worse when the principal quit my senior yet, I basically didn't show up to school anymore and barely passed. Had to stay after school for the last month to make up hours
1:55 love how he talks to the mother but actually looks at Julian cause he knows that hes the one that would actually listen
The mother is beyond redemption.
Props to the actors, their performance is incredible
Y’all gotta stop hating on Julian. His mom was the evil one that spoiled him and filled him with pride
Pride is the enemy
Yeah, but there's no excuse for what Julian did
The question is, does that really make the boy innocent? After all, he was the one who had done the bullying, not his mother
@@HanstheCapitalist but if you look clearly, his mom encouraged Julian to keep doing it just because it made him feel better

"Aggie can't change who he is...so...WE need to change the way WE see things."
This is 100% true. It is hard to accept but we live in a judgemental society. And you can't change that, no matter how much we want to. So your choice is to CHANGE the way YOU see things. Look at people. And ask yourself the big question: When I look at them, what do I see?
You can’t blame a kid for his deplorable actions when he’s got parents like that…
A parent’s actions toward a child can affect the child’s behavior.
I don't hate Julian I forgive him for what he did
Mom was never told no as a child.

Exactly smh she's spoiled.
She is the exact definition of a Karen.
Someone needs to give her the beating her parents never gave
Props to the acting for making her a piece of shish.

What kind of parent would even say that. Smh nah what kind of person would even say that, your an adult and you say you photoshopped a special kid out f a picture
There’s no such thing as a bad child only a bad parent and clearly it’s because of his parents he’s been bullying
Mom:a two day suspension for a couple of notes
Me: A couple of notes that say that can end somebody’s life
Exactly!!!
A couple. As in more than one. A repeated pattern of behaviour and bullying.
Does she not even listen to herself 😂
@@vexxama when she says I will be sure to tell that to the real world I say and I'll be sure to tell what u just said to the real world.
Hayden Graczyk they’re not brain dead. They just don’t think their child deserves getting punished for this so they try to act like it’s a little thing which is why she says they’re just a “couple of notes” and then tries to make it seem like a normal thing you can’t help since in the real world you get insulted all the time, and then they say they’ve done so much for the school because of the money they have along with the many friends in the school board as if they are important people that can take his job. These are all different ways of manipulation. So they seem to be somewhat smart in that regard, and not brain dead. Brain dead would be genuinely seeing nothing wrong in this whole thing and thinking their child is perfect. The parents know it’s wrong which is why the mom initially takes part of the blame in the beginning
@@slauderek3195 I wouldn't say she's taking the blame since she doesn't seem to feel even remotely guilty.
“Two days for a couple of notes from a kid”
Two days for a couple of notes that will damage a poor child's mental health for life. That's what i call merciful.
That’s more than just a couple of notes. There has to be at least a dozen.
If you write someone a note telling them to kill themselves and they do, in my country you could get charged with instigation to suicide. So yeah it is that serious.
The thing I love about this scene is that the kid doesn’t get his big expulsion and realization moment from the principal, he instead gets it from his parents own ego and entitlement
I had a bully like that. His dad was a firefighter with my Uncle in the same department. My Uncle wasn't a fan of his dad. When you're a bully, it always falls back on the parents first. Bullying is either taught or uncorrected
If only all school authorities responded this way to bullying in real life.
Fox News and Republicans would go crazy if schools did something about it.
@@blackout07blue the Democrats are infiltrating schools and expelling God loving conservative children because of consequences for their actions.really America is destroyed
There’s really not much the Democrats and Republicans have a lot involvement in school, there is no proof that Conservative kids are being expelled more than liberals, nor more liberals than Conservative. And Democrats have done little with school, only just increase funding for schools rather than reform the actual school system. So please for both of you, argue with reason, this is the exact reason why I’m an Independent

I think the REAL bullies are the kid’s parents. I got very upset when the mom just cold-heartily said:
“Two days for a couple of notes to some “kid”.~”
I doesn’t matter if it was a couple of notes, he kept doing it over, and over, without any remorse or guilt and not to mention he wasn’t sorry until AFTER. Now I get why the son was a jerk, he had jerk parents. You don’t always look at the child you start from the top.
Literally Preach!

"Two day suspension for a couple of notes from a kid"
A couple being well over a dozen and notes being literal death threats.

He was a AMAZING principal!!

She has a point. Try putting him in a public school then watch what happens.
At least u could tell Julian was sorry. Can’t say the same for his mom🤨
Well she's a Karen that's how they are
I hate the “it’s my child so I’ll defend them even if they’re wrong” mindset. It’s just not fair to the real victims in those scenarios. In my own school years ago someone in my year was bullied to the point of feeling physically ill and stayed home for a week. The teachers got wind of it and suspended the bully and his parents were in the same day to complain saying the other boy needed to “grow a thicker skin”. Parental love can be amazing, but blind faith and support while overlooking their own child’s faults just lets them get away with anything
she was hot though

I have to say the printable really had a kind hearted conversation with Julian . I can’t wait to see what Julian learns after being out of school and learning the truth of how people are equal
This shows that the parents were bullies once and they still have that in them today. Some adults just never change and that’s what makes them alone and the misted hated people on earth.
