  • Eastleigh Lakeside Steam Railway is a paid railway and the ticket office is located at the entrance of the station building to the right with the shop.
The staff were very friendly and chatted to us between our train rides. Thank you for taking the time to chat and making us all feel very welcome.
We visited on Friday 15th September 2023, and travelled on Edward VIII as this engine had been repaired the previous day so it was out being tested. We travelled in first class and second class as the weather was good.
There is a big shop selling a wide range of Bigjigs trains and accessories as well as other train memorabilia. They also sold Mr Whippy ice creams, ice cream in tubs and lolly ices.
The views are really nice with some animals in the grounds as you head back from Monks Brook Halt. There is a trail path that runs along the back part of the track. On busier days the tunnel is open and trains pass through it on the lower line.
There is a kids play area at Monks Brook Halt and also some lakes which you can walk around if you choose to disembark the train here.
There was a cafe located in the main station building to the left as you enter which looked quite nice too but we didn’t get a chance to stop to eat.
They have so many locomotives, I counted around 20/24 on the wall but there was probably more.
Isaac was a little grumpy that there wasn’t a diesel running on the line too as he’s really into diesel trains at the minute but he was happy enough to ride the train twice so he had a good time for sure.
The railway is located at -
    Lakeside Country Park
    Wide Lane
    Eastleigh
    SO50 5PE
There was free parking here in their own grounds.
