Cashtown, PA FS STH-10 Siren Test- Attack- 1/1/22

New year, new Adams County STH-10. :) This thing had a good punch to it and made for a great siren to break in my new camera on. Wish I could've gotten a brighter shot, but it was very foggy today. Oh well! Adams County fire sirens are tested on the first Saturday of the month at noon and this siren is located on Old Route 30 at Cashtown Fire Department. I have to agree. These GE motor versions I think are the rare one, but I’m not positive. They sound super good though despite how old they could be. These things are bulletproof and you just can’t kill these old sirens.

The model STH-10’s 6-minute wind down is part if it’s charm. Plus, the beeps segued perfectly into the siren. 🎶

Considering the torque of that powerful motor, and the possibly of structural fatigue, due the age and corrosion of the mounting brackets, I would recommend beefing up the mounting just in case. My guess is this has been mounted there for decades.

I think this is actually a STH-10B because it has its own cap and it has a thick cord look at the difference between this recording and other STH recordings

I live right between 2 STH-10s one to the north one to the south, they arent even a mile apart, on rare occasoin they will harmonize in attack.

@@lukemicsky3086 I've taken a picture a month ago and one a year ago of the gettysburg sterling and it appears the chopper is in the same position. I don't know if this is a way of telling but the fire dept said the sterling and sth are active
