Well hello there all!
SO excited to show you this video! What to say and do on your first day at a new job! This video assumes you are starting work in an office in the U.K but the advice is transferrable to remote working! It also assumes regular working hours of 9am-5pm but is also suitable for other shift times. I truly hope you find it useful! Maybe you're just about to start a new job? :-) GOOD LUCK if so!

I have always liked that expression , although some people
prefer " memorize" .

to meet or catch up with your (new) colleagues .
I personally think that , a secretary , can't be missed either
in an office , is essential , for the practical things to run smoothly,
a Secretary can feel like a safe haven , a bridge over troubled water ,
in rough seas circumstances and ups and downs in a company .

Actually, I’m listening from South Korea. In this video, you emphasized that it is better to keep being positive for greeting and ending etc. (maybe in western culture, it is more natural to express somthing positively.) And I also understood that it could be a kind of formal manner in English culture. For now, I am wondering how we express something negative more naturally in English culture. Really appreciate your genuine sharing of useful tips. I came from Hong Kong to settle in Bristol last August. I will start a new job in the coming September. When I wonder what I need to say in the first day at a new job, this video pops up in my mobile phone. You are my life-saver as you help me know the British way of introducing myself and small talk at the coffee machine, etc. Look forward to your next video! I am also an English Literature graduate in Hong Kong, mainly majoring in Victorian novels and modern drama. I am living in Keynsham now, quite close to Bath. I like going to Bath because everything there is Victorian in style, especially the Great Pulteney Street and the Jane Austen Centre. All of these remind me of the old days more than thirty years ago when I studied the English literature in the university. Your videos help me blend in the British culture and expressions! It is a pleasure for me to hear that you got a degree for english literature. In my teenage years , i had to study english language and english lliterature as 2 seperate subjects. To be honest , english literature was tough for me compared to english language which was relatively easy , less boring. Have a prosperous day. May your shadow never grow less

Everything you said about the coffee machine is true no surprise I love coffee lol, but still struggle to hold a conversation. Probably this would be a good idea for your next video. As greetings, you also can say Hiyaa or just you alright? which is most common in London.
