- Follow this simple structure to naturally introduce yourself at work in English and adapt your introduction easily in a variety of situations.
Introducing yourself in your native language is so simple, right? You've done it 13,208 times in your life. It's natural. Automatic.
Wouldn't it be awesome to feel the same in English?
Recently one of my students sent me an email saying, “I have many topics that I need to improve, but one that would be very helpful is talking about myself when I need to do informal or short introductions, for example with colleagues and new clients.”
Today I want to help her and you get clarity and confidence when introducing yourself in English.
With today's lesson, you'll get a clear structure to follow and easily adapt for any introduction at work so that you can confidently make connections.

A very important video. Great job. Are there people here who are already using these tips?
Thank Anne Marie, I am improving my responses to a conversation or question that people make me, but I don't use phrasal verbs still, because every time I want to do it I don't remember them. I need to repeat them many times in order to stamp them in my brain. I share with more people the classes and they also love them and like your professionalism. thank you
Thank you for sharing my videos! I greatly appreciate it and am thrilled to know that you are enjoying my lessons!
I like watching your videos because I have been looking for some job related English conversations for a long time. If you could add more examples for each topic so we can mimic those sentences, that would be great.

I am looking forward to work with you and learn new strategies to serve our clients.

For job titles in English, we put the word 'assistant' in front, so you could say, "I'm the assistant manager..."
Thank you!

Wonderful, Parisa. Sounds like you've got a great introduction to use in those emergency situations.

Good morning Paul, how are you today?
I wonder if you're hiring because I'd like to change my job position. It doesn't need to be at the moment and I can send you my CV by email. Thank you so much. Bye.
( Anne just for let you know the context this conversation happened and it was such a disaster! I got nervous because I thought the boss (Paul) even wouldn't answer my call and I didn't understand his e-mail. But I wrote what I should to say I think haha
Ps I already worked for him and we used to get on well, but I need to change my job position to go back.
I'm sorry to hear this didn't go well the first time around. Based on your example here, I assume you already know Paul and have a relationship with him, is that correct?
Ah, I just saw your P.S. With someone you already know and have worked with, then your statement works well.
Hi Marie, let me introduce myself, my name is Angel, Im retired but a want to improve my English still. I've seen several of your videos, i undestand what you say almost 98%, but when i tried to speak i can not articulate words in the same way that you do it, ¿any recomedation to resolve this?
Thanks in advance for you support
Thanks for the question (and great introduction!). My top recommendation is to download my free training titled 'Say What You Want in English.' You can get it here: www.speakconfidentenglish.com/say-what-you-want-in-english/
Cut to the point
Hello , I am Ahmad , but please just call me Hamada ...
I am new here , It is an honour to work here ...
I hope to be great friends ...
Is this a good introduction ???
Ahmad, in my opinion. Honor and great are word choices that are at maximum in meaning. I mean, on a scale from one to ten. Honor is something so sincere and meaningful that it is at ten level for intensity. Where, if you said "I guess it's just ok working here." That would be a level one for intensity about desiring to work somewhere. To be skilled in English you need to learn the various levels of intensity for what you say. Another example, in English you would not meet a girl for the first time and say, "let's get married and spend our whole lives together." That's too intense, too strong of a statement. But, at a more normal word choice for intensity (powerfulness, boldness, seriousness). Meeting a girl for the first time you could correctly say, it's been "nice" meeting you. One step more intense would be to say, it's been a "pleasure" meeting you. One step more intense from that would be, "wow, I'm glad to have met you. I hope we can talk again." (If a stranger then you can exchange cards or numbers.)
In my opinion, to say that something is an honor means that something is almost sacred or a very big victory. It might be better to say, "I'm very happy to work here." Or, you could say, "I'm looking forward to working here."
Next, being great friends, could mean very important and closely connected to each other friends. Or, it could mean best friends. When you are just starting to know someone, this is too much friendship. It's not the best to go towards friendship in your first business communications. Because it's a place of work, not a social club. I think better to say, "I hope we can work on a project together sometime." Or say, "I feel like I could learn a lot from you, I hope we'll (we will) be able to talk more in the future."
This is a great start, Ahmad. I like that you included, "but please just call me Hamada." The word 'honour' is quite strong and, if you're new, a more common way to show excitement about the new job is to say, "I'm excited to start working here."
Ok
Eis a professora mais charmosa e carismática de todo o CZcams!! 😉
