In the Hmong culture, older people don't look at you in the face when they are talking to you. Instead, they would turn their face the other way. Also, women never shake hand with men or smile at any men. I love all your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I’m originally from Iran & live in the US since 2010. I wanted to say that yes we ,Iranians, are noisy listeners too and it’s a sign of respect 😇
I found new in this that u suddenly says something out of topic in the sarcastic way that someone gets embarrassed and get full attention to what ur are discussing. It really good and cool way 😊🤗
I wish I could speak exactly like you. You speak English so gracefully. Thank you for the very helpful videos.
Keep going then you ll be good as she is .
"And so then, the elephant started laughing" 😂😂 savvy and funny solution ❤ love that

Good afternoon Annemarie! What an honor to participate here on the channel. When I realize that I am not being heard, I do exactly as you said: I stop talking and the person then refocuses his attention. I have learned a lot here on the channel and as I said, it is a great honor to watch your videos. May God richly bless you !!!
You are a really good English teacher!
My husband never listen to me, because English is my second language. I’m feeling hurt when he laughing and joke what I speaking. I feel good to learn English with you. Thank you so much. I appreciated.

Thank you for such useful, excellent video! Your pronunciation and pauses are perfect for me. 📚
You're welcome, Matisia.
I am Chinese, when we listen other person speaking,we don't use verbal cues because that will give the speaker the impression that you lose your patient to listen,so we just respond when other person finished his speech and use to verbal cue

Wow! Thank you, Gisele!
Thank you so much Annemarie, one precious lesson more. Over the years I have built a mixed way to express myself into Spanish, Portuguese and lately Franch, so I don't know exactly how I hear people and which are the verbal clues I use. To listening others I make eye contact not fixed of course and I also use to look at the hands the person who talk to me. You, for exemple use your hands as an important tool to comunicate yourself, its work perfectly, I think if I'd wacht a video of you where you speak without your hands I wouldn't undestand anything. You also have very beautiful hands. Keep doind it please. And Thank you again for everything you're doing for me. You're a great coach!!!
Thank you so much for making this lesson free i love your lesson 💕
You too Annemarie have a fantastic week, see you next week! Thanks for the great lesson.
Thank you so much this lesson is so useful.
Great video! Thank you, Annemarie!
You are one of the best teachers available online to teach English, you are mastering the English speaking. Everyday I listen to your video to improve my speaking skill. Thanks so much
This is very interesting! , Spanish is my tongue language, and we have “the good listener’s rules” , which is basically a list of steps that you must follow to have a conversation, we learn this rules at school and home , one of the rules is “listen in silence to the one speaking”
Hi AnnMarie
I really love the way you carry yourself throughout the session giving us precise and clear information. First impression is the best impression. Really pleasant and graceful presentation. You are Great.
You are amazing!
The way you convey your videos are truly inspiring.
Great lessons
Another fantastic lesson, thank you! Working on every aspect to improve my English like reading, listening, grammar, watching movies but can't speak because I have no one to talk to practice... it is really disappointing sometimes but I am not going to give up.
This lesson is very important. Thank you so much.
Teacher Annemarie, you do awesome lessons plus you speak so effortlessly. Thanks a lot your videos are improving my speaking and listening skills and also how to be more polite. Thank you!
Thank you :)

Your speaking speed is perfectly calibrated, not too fast and not too slow, great for all of us to model off 👍.
Thanks for your sharing. 谢谢你的分享
Always lovev tolisten you and implement all the tips and techniques given by you for effective public speaking.
I love the way you talk. It's really soo admirable.
Good. I'm full gratitude. Love it. Thank you a lot for sharing. Congratulations!!
Thank you, Annemarie for your lesson, especially for the tips what to do when someone isn't listening to you during conversation. I'm rather good at active listening, so good that I have little opportunity to speak by myself! So when I have a chance to speak (very rare) I continue too long and eventually lose someone's attention. Here in Poland we use very similar verbal cues and sounds as English speakers do but we aren't so noisy, I think.
I want to say thank you teacher you're the best.....I really like your videos and especially you method of teaching 😉
Thank you! 😃
Excellent service thanks
I am learned lots
Very helpful cues. I'll adopt it and adjust then relax when other person talk. Thank you so much.
Very interesting video, thanks! I am working with an Italian student (C2 level) and this topic has come up in her lessons. I think the cultural differences are very important here; in Italian, apparently they do not use so many verbal supporting sounds as we do in English. In fact, my student told me that she finds it disconcerting when I say 'mmm' as I am listening to her! Will definitely be showing her this video!
Hi...thanks for this lesson Anne Marie!!! I have reviewed it several time!... nice and really useful for me., and you perfect as usual... Regards.
Hi, Annemarie! What a great educational offering, I’m a Romanian working in a American native speaking environment. Your English communication guidelines are very helpful and motivating!

Hello, I recently discovered you. I'm at level B1 and I can say you're easy to understand, with a comfortable speed. This lesson is very interesting, so I subscribe to your channel. About the body language, I use it especially when it's important, when I want to give a real impact, that makes a change with a normal conversation.

Hi Annamarie mam, most of the case I use the third strategy ( unexpected silence ) .....when I was in my class and students are not doing paying attention on that time suddenly I keep silence so that they can understand what I am saying😊
