    Are you taking NMN and wondering if it's working? I'm no expert but I've been interested in NMN since I read Dr David Sinclair's book "Lifespan".
    I've been researching it and taking it myself for several months. If you've decided to try it and you're worried it's not working there are several reasons that may be the case. In this video we'll discuss a few.
    NMN is a naturally occurring molecule found in many of our foods. Some people have opted to take it in supplement form in an effort to increase falling NAD levels. NAD also called NAD+ is in every cell in your body and is vitally important for your overall health, energy and vitality. Unfortunately NAD levels decrease as we age. Many believe that NMN can help raise those levels back up and help slow or even reverse the ageing process. More research is needed and more research is being done. Still, thousands of people have decide not to wait. If you're one of them you're not alone.

    Thank you for what you do, JT. I have used all those brands, but finally settled on Wonderfeel Youngr. It’s the only one that isn’t a single-ingredient NMN, and I love that it has the added ingredients. But besides TMG, Dr Nicola Conlon also talked about apigenin to inhibit CD38. David Sinclair also mentioned it in some of his podcasts

    Wish I could say NMN has been effective for me. I’ve taken it for the past year and a half with a 3 month break and really felt no difference. I always take the NMN from Do Not Age, controlled for all those variables you mentioned and still no appreciable difference. Maybe a test would illuminate things? I can’t afford to spend so much on supplements like this. I also have taken TMG religiously with the NMN and have tried Appigenin, Fisetin etc. And no difference. I find a lot of comments from women echo my experience. I also run 4 times a week, walk daily and dance once a week with a good Mediterranean diet, low sugar and low alcohol.

      First, I have to say it sounds like you have some seriously healthy habits. Amazing. I bet you look and feel great! That's not the only time I've heard something like that. I'm not a scientist but it makes me wonder if all of the things you're doing are helping you maintain higher NAD levels to begin with. So, even if they've declined a small amount with age a small increase may not be noticeable. Just thinking out loud. It is expensive, isn't it? I think you might have the right idea. Maybe an NAD+ test would help tell you what's really happening. If you do decide to do that, I'd love to hear how it goes. Thanks for sharing.

    Personally I’ve been using NMN for weight loss. First time I used it I lost lots of weight but I was also dieting and exercising a lot. But once I stopped taking it I stopped losing weight. I didn’t notice until a week ago when I realized I haven’t lost any weight in like 3 months. I got another jar, and 3 days after starting dosing again, I’ve lost weight every single day consistently.
    On top of that I do armwrestling. Lots of pressure and strain on my joints and tendons. My recover has been FAR better. Usually a hard day of practice matches will take me almost a full week to recover. I’m feeling mostly recovered after 2 days. My personal experience is my own but personally, this stuff has been working wonders for me and I will continue taking it as long as I can.

    The other is it is not getting into the muscles because of the delivery it is not getting to the blood post liver, if it does go to the liver then it is processed and converted as a lesser form of NMN and does not get into the muscles because it is converted to other Na forms. Very little if any is getting into the muscle cells. Recent studies using isotope tracing reveals that this is what is happening. If you can even open your mind N.M.N. must be protected all the way to through the blood that must carry it into the muscles. The only way this may be possible is to have it encased it in a nano size lysosomal sphere. T.M.G will not carry N.M.N. into the muscular cellular level, it must either bypass or go through the liver intact as N.M.N. so it gets to the muscle. It must bypass the liver intact in lysosomal sphere to travel through the blood as N.M.N. to reach and enter the muscles.

    When I started taking NMN 500mg I got a huge amount of energy, but also a bizarre amount that even people thought I had ADHD?? I then only went to 250mg every other day. The day I didn't take it I felt the best and a little less nervous. But everything went extremely well! My testosterone had also definitely increased, which also made my skin a bit oily, which was slightly less, as if I was getting pimples again. But because I wasn't sleeping as well, I stopped. After that it was really horrible! I had no energy at all anymore, I got tired very quickly and all my desire and cheerfulness was completely gone and I really felt like a depressed zombie. Also my skin quickly looked bad as if it accelerated the aging process! I have suffered from this for 3 months and this cannot be healthy. I looked into this further and found many stories of people who experienced this and much worse! People who got gray hair very quickly after quitting?? I really wonder if this shouldn't be investigated further first, I think it could have quite dangerous side effects if you stop taking it. I would like to hear more people's experiences with stopping NMN

    • @JTJaredTaylor
      @JTJaredTaylor  Před rokem +3

      Great question. My understanding is that NMN is not vitamin B3 but is a derivative. It's not being converted to B3 but to NAD+. NMN is thought to be much closer to NAD+ and can therefore be more easily converted to NAD. I hope that helps.

    • @juliusctw
      @juliusctw Před rokem +2

      B3 in theory also increases NAD levels, but you need to take a relatively large dose which would cause your body to feel like it's on fire (expected and personal experience). It took 1 year of taking B3 to adapt to high level of B3. However, I personally didn't see an increase in NAD level from testing from B3. My wife did see an increase in NAD level with a high dose of NMN after 3 weeks.

    Well, if the effects of NMN are so small that can't be independently measured, then why even bother. Adopt a better lifestyle, work out regularly, and save money. I guess that the difference between medication and supplements - you get a headache, you take aspirin and your headache goes away, proof that medication works. You take supplement, you can't positively attribute any change to it, you just have to take it on faith. Brilliant business model.

Would my local doctor authorize/order these tests? It's completely frustrating to have all this huge variety of supplements available, but no way to quantify exactly what I need, or what actually works for me.........I feel like this is all a giant crap shoot, but I'd rather have a set of loaded dice for this game of life!

    • @JTJaredTaylor
      @JTJaredTaylor  Před rokem +3

      I hear you. It can be challenging. DoNotAge sells an NAD test kit so you can see if NMN (and or other things you're doing) is actually raising NAD levels. They're not the only ones. Other companies have NAD test's that you can order. A lot of people have done that. I've done a biological age blood test in the past (through Inside Tracker) and am getting ready to do that again. It won't tell you specifically about NMN or Glutathione but it's fun to see if what you're doing is making a difference on the inside. Your doctor may be willing to order a glutathione test but if not you can order one online. A company called Life Extension has one available and I'm sure if you do some searching you can find others. Non of these tests are what I would call "cheap" but they're becoming more and more affordable. Hopefully as more companies develop these kinds of tests they'll become more and more affordable. Hope that helps.

    NMN and NR have been reported to metabolize very quickly into vitamin B3 as nicotinic acid. I have been taking B3 as nicotinic acid for 25 years to help me get to sleep, right after the flush is over. I look, think, and feel very young for my age, 79.
    The doctor (MD) who reported the fate of NMN and NR in the body dropped NMN for 51mg of B3 as nicotinic acid daily.

I take about 600 mgs a day, sometimes more. I've tried a few companies..I think the reason why it's not working for some people is because it's expensive and the dosages that come are pretty weak. Minimum dosages that I've read from studies are around 600 mgs for this stuff to work well. Some are 125 mgs a pill, you'd have to take around 5-6 a day for it to work. Pro Life is good, and Genex formulas are the two I've found effective. I haven't tried powder.
      I've always been active, I've worked out all my life but just like all of us once I hit 40 I started to drift backwards doing the same routine. I'm 45 now, and I can tell you after two months I'm walking and running on an incline, I've never done that before and I recover the next day easier.

      @JTJaredTaylor  Před rokem +4

      Hi April, I'm very glad you've found my videos informative. Thanks for letting me know. NAC is related to glutathione, an antioxidant whereas NMN is related to vitamin B complex. NMN helps to raise NAD levels czcams.com/video/CI17vHAXOh8/video.html and NAC helps to reduce free radicals. I noticed a difference with NMN in the first few weeks but it can easily take several months to notice anything at all. Everyone is different. You don't NEED to take it with TMG. It will still be helpful if you don't. It's just that TMG helps your body convert more NMN to NAD which is what we want. You're very welcome for the code. I hope it helps. Thanks again.

That said, make sure the NMN that you have is white or even slightly off white but not discolored. If it's tan or brownish then it's degraded and probably isn't effective. Don't over think it. Methylation is only one of three factors to establish the salvage pathway. You need to generate the enzyme NAMPT. This is done with quercetin and/or R-alphalopoic acid. R designates the natural fotm which is more effective than the synthetic form.
    The other factor is blocking the action of CD38. This is done with Apigenin.
    The salvage pathway gets you from NAD+ back to NAD+ where you want it to be, not to NADH where it's of no use.
    Follow these 3 steps and you should get better results.
    Bonus tip, take the amino acid L-Leucine with it but no other amino acids such as IsoLeucibe or Valene. Only Leucine. The others would negate its effect.
