  • If you are having an INDUCED HOSPITAL BIRTH, you need to know about CERVIDIL. When it comes to labor induction there is more than just one way it's done and a cervidil induction might be one of the options you have to be induced. Cervidil contains prostaglandins that help ripen and prepare the cervix for labor to begin. In this video, you learn about what to know about labor and how to prepare for an induction using this prostaglandin containing induction technique.
    Labor and delivery, especially a medical induction, doesn't have to be a guessing game, Mama! Knowing what to expect during an induction is attainable through adequate childbirth education, even if it's just a crash course that you get through the Induction Series Playlist! In the rest of the playlist, you will get your question, "How is labor induced?", what to expect during an induction, and what you need to know about preparing for birth when inducing labor.
    And if you are having a baby in the near distant future and want access to empowering birth education for a happier, healthier, and easier birth, make sure you check out the BUILT TO BIRTH ONLINE CLASS here: www.builttobirth.com

    I was induced with Cervidil at 40 weeks due to GDM. My doctor said that it would likely take 2-3 attempts because my cervix was unfavorable. I was induced at 9:30 am, at 12:15 pm, my water broke! Everyone was so surprised. My baby was born at 7:00 pm, it was a very positive birth experience.

    I was induced with cervadil at 41 weeks due to my baby not wanting to leave her comfy warm home. I was induced on June 25th 2am and got it taken out at 2pm. Water broke at 6pm and gave birth at 9:12pm. My cervix was only 10% effaced and I wasn’t dilated before using cervidil so for me to give birth the same day was amazing.

    I was induced with cervadil at 37 weeks 11/22/23 @ 7 pm due to her being iugr small and me with pre-eclampsia. Made my vagina pretty sore and hurt a bit when they put it back halfway through because it makes you a bit sore. Got it taken out 12 hours later at 7 am and a balloon catheter inserted into my cervix. Those contractions were insane so at 1 cm 9 AM I caved and got an epidural very lovely experience after that. I got to take a nap with my peanut ball and wake up at 12 pm at 6 cm dilated. Kept using the peanut ball and dilated to 10 cm. Pushed my baby girl out in 20 minutes. My baby was born 11/23/2023 @ 3:02 pm on Thanksgiving Day ❤. Only had a small 1st degree labial tear. Very very good and positive birth experience. About 10-11 hours later I gave birth & yes they gave it to me at night so I was able to rest in the hospital room! I went in at 6am the insert was placed at 9am. Contractions started at 12pm and stayed 2-3min apart until 9pm from 9-12am they were a minute apart until my water broke. At the point of my water breaking I was 4cm I went from 4-10cm in one hour and delivered at 01:22am. That hour after my water broke was incredibly intense. Love this story I can only imagine that last hour. May I ask if they HAD to do cervical checks when using the Cervidil? I want to make sure I’m aware of them beforehand.

    I was induced with cervidil at 41+6, waited until the very end to try and have a natural birth. My experience was pretty negative only because it was the most intense thing I’ve ever experienced. I practiced breathing, hypnosis thing, everything. I wasn’t able to use any of these tactics because of how fast the labour was. I was induced at around 10:30 AM, and my baby was born at 6:30 pm. From 2:30-6:30 I felt like I didn’t breathe the entire time. Contractions were one on top of the other and I never got a break in between them. I’m thankful it was fast, but I really hope I don’t need to get induced this time. I just want a normal labour!

    Was given this and had contractions 30 minutes after. Was given it at 10pm. When my midwife checked me at 5:30am the next day, I was dilated to 10cm. They made it seem like I would have just slight cramping, but it made me contract very close together. I didn't need pitocin. I 39 w pregnant and needed to be induced because pre eclampsia.

    2 years after my induction, I'm finally watching these videos and now have a better understanding of why my labor was so difficult. At the same time, I'm also confused with my experience particularly with the expectations of my midwife. Immediately after placing cervidil in I had nonstop contractions for 15 hours with zero dilation and hardly effaced. My midwife wanted to send me home after these 15 hours but the hospital would not allow it. I realize now that it should not have been out of the ordinary if my body was slow to dilate. Overall, the cervidil put me in distress and it mentally/physically broke me down. It was traumatic and I felt like a failure because my body wasn't "doing what it was supposed to do.". I was allowed to use the birthing tub after 15 hours and this was my saving grace. the warm water helped relieve my pain and for once I was able to control my breathing. After being in the tub for 2 hours, I finally dilated 2cm and was then offered the epidural. I was in labor for 36 hours total and pushed at 9cm. I'm nervous of being induced again with my second but having gone through it once and now re-watching induction videos, I have a better understanding of what to expect and how to be a better advocate for myself. Thank you.

    @ramlahagi2674 Před 2 lety +4

    I had a Cervidil because I was 41 weeks and three days and I gave birth within 4 hours of having it placed in me. This was my second pregnancy and my first pregnancy was over 4 years ago. My cervix was 3cm long and fully closed when I had the cervidil placed inside of me, and the doctor said that it would most likely take me multiple attempts of inductions before I even came close to being in labor. He said that my cervix was really high up prior to having the cervidil placed, but he said that my cervix was on the softer side.
    I got my cervidil placed at 12pm on February 14th 2022, and I was monitored for an hour and sent home at 1pm. I had very mild contractions that were about 30 minutes spaced apart. However around 3pm on the same day (about 2 hours after coming home), I had the worst contraction and my water broke with that contraction. After that my contractions were extremely severe and spaced about 2 minutes apart.
    I was so terrified about giving birth at home so I called an ambulance. By the time I got to the hospital they told me that I was 100% effaced and 8cm dilated. I was crying out for an epidural but they told me I was way too late for one. After 13 minutes of arriving at the hospital I had the urge to push, and within only seven minutes of pushing my daughter was born ❤.
    I feel like things probably progressed really fast because my daughter was low for the majority of my third trimester and I was told that her head was measuring small throughout my pregnancy.
    Needless to say I hope to never be induced ever again. My overall experience was pretty positive, but definitely scary as well.

    I may have to be induced because I have gestational diabetes. I’ll be 39 weeks on Thursday, and my midwives are hoping I’ll go into labor before 40 weeks.
    My first baby I was blessed to have a natural, non medicated birth in the hospital with my midwives. I was really hoping for the same thing again! I had him at 39+6.
    I had been exercising, using the birth ball and walking a lot, but I got Covid and I’m nervous to have her too soon now! I’m still pretty weak, but ready to start doing anything I can to go into labor naturally! My midwives have a “midwife brew” that they will let me try before being induced. But I’ll be trying the walking, birth ball moves, acupressure, raspberry leaf tea, primrose oil, ect as soon as I feel well enough!
    What induction would you try if you had to be induced? I’m trying to stay calm and in the right mindset and trust that everything will work out!

    Ripening agents: Several agents (Cytotec, Cervidil) can be used in the hospital or outpatient to help ready the cervix for labor in women whose cervix is long, closed or “unripe.” These “ripening agents” are easily inserted in the vagina or taken by mouth and work for 4-12 hours
