      Yes. We all grew up moving around tons more. Just bot having computers or cell phones. You could talk on the phone… until someone else needed it. You could watch tv… but we only started having options beyond scheduled tv (ie. 3-5 networks with their channel programs, and no replays or repeats. If you want the new episode of Little House on the Prairie or Charlie’s Angels, you had to tune in the scheduled day and time.)
      We played in the neighborhoods. We did sports, learned instruments. Rode bikes. Skated (later, bladed). We just were not glued to screens.
      And the summer I spent in Tonga, I ate well but lost 8 pounds in 2 months. No chemicals in the foods.

    What got me was once I stopped by a local coffee shop, it is a famous chain in Canada. Not hard to figure out, I bought a muffin and coffee took went for a hike. Not eating the muffin I put it in the console of a black vehicle this was in march and forgot all about it. I was looking for something in the car around September/ October I came across this bag and remembered want it was. Thinking I had a science experiment being a guy I looked in and found it was the same as the day I bought it wasn’t even hard it felt like it just came out of the oven. I have never been back to that chain or pretty much all fast food places, I only buy baked goods if I don’t make them myself is buy from a mom and pop shops.

    This is a great video. I grew up as a child in the 60's and 70's , graduated from high school in the 70's and ate all of these snacks or sugary cereals like captain crunch or froot loops or whatever. There was no epidemic of childhood obesity back then but i thought it was because kids were so much more active. In the 60's and 70's kids would go out and play after breakfast or lunch and be out all day and would return till dinner time. There was no electronics to tie us down so we were always running around and we seemed to have boundless energy. We were always running around , riding bikes, at the playground or the park. I played sports and literally had no fat, I was skinny the whole time and so were other kids I knew yet we ate all those products. This video makes sense. Thank you 😊

    @LittleMissSunshine721 Před 8 dny +2

    I realized this long ago when I watched the popular dance show Soul Train. There was not ONE overweight person on that show! Everyone looked healthy and slim.
    I was born in the 80’s and grew up in the 90’s. I was a chubby little girl. I didn’t overeat, and I only consumed what my parents bought from the grocery store. Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, Ritz Bits cheese crackers and Cheeto Paws were my fave snacks. We ate those freeze pops in the summer and drank jug juices. I only ate these snacks in moderation and my mom cooked most of our meals. Happy Meals were pretty normal in consumption, but only if she didn’t have time to cook.
    Both of my parents were/are pretty slim. They didn’t know that their favorite snacks from the 60’s and 70’s were laced with awful preservatives and additives by the time I was born. They just gave me what they ate, but it affected me in a different way. I developed very early. It could’ve been partly genetic, but I truly think all of the high fructose corn syrups, addictives and chemicals were an added factor.
    Thank you for bringing this video to the forefront to show how much these greedy companies do not care about the health of their consumers. I’m sure they aren’t happy with this video. But you’re saving lives because of it. I have some Lays I brought at work and I’m going to throw them away. God Bless you. 🙏🏽✨

    I think that to some extent, you have been overcome by nostalgia. Many of those foods were unhealthy back then as well and some of their advertising was an attempt to make them only seem healthy. For example, one brand of bread advertised it helped build strong bodies 8 ways. That was about it containing some vitamins and minerals and perhaps it also included the small amount of protein or the carbohydrates for energy. Later, to make it seem even better, it was advertised as helping build strong bodies 12 ways. Were a few vitamins added? White bread was never "healthy." Twinkies and other sweet baked goods were never either. Sugar is marginally better than high fructose corn syrup, but your doctor will not recommend that you consume either.

      I try not to eat Oreos anymore, because even before watching this, I suspected that the recipe was changed for the worse. I used to love Oreos as much as the next kid, but now, they seem kinda insipid.
      I know a yummy chocolate cookie when I taste one, and modern Oreos taste nothing like it.

    Sorry, but you should get your facts straight on ORIGINAL Grape-Nuts. They STILL contain only 4 ingredients - Whole grain wheat flour, malted barley flour, salt and dried yeast. No added sugars. Post makes Grape-Nut Flakes, and that product DOES contain added sugar. Original Grape-Nuts is one of the few cold cereals I still buy. Some types of Shredded Wheat without BHT,Uncle Sam Cereal (now hard to find) and regular Oatmeal are are other 3 I know that have been around for over a hundred years, and still worth buying. I grew up on Corn Flakes in the 60’s , but wouldn’t give a plug nickel for them now!

    They were never considered healthy snacks in the 70s..Healthier then than now doesn't mean healthy and were never considered healthy in the 70s. I gave birth to my 1st 3 children in the nid 70s. I was there. HFCS started replacing real sugar in 1978. Those sweet snacks are the exact same recipe now as they were then. Same ingredients. I was a young mother then, always reading labels and researching as usual.

    Almost everything was healthier back then. Before the YUPPIE crowd stepped in an started poisoning our food with so called healthy substitutes which were only now finding out are killing up. That's why we cook almost everything fresh from scratch without all the yuppie chemicals added. And when I do buy packaged items I choose specific items like real tuna packed in oil, not the flavorless garbage packed in water. With processed food your always hungry, but with fresh food you're full and you don't have to take daily vitamins to live a healthy life. You already get everything you need to stay healthy.
