    I remember going to restaurants such as Lyon's, Sambo's, and the Peppermill. Sadly, the above-mentioned restaurants are not in business anymore. My parents took me and my sister there when we were young after church or when they wanted an inexpensive meal. Farrell's was another restaurant I remember growing up. They were known for the wild birthday celebrations with sirens, bells, and whistles. The outfits were from the gay '90s, and the ice cream sundaes. Pup & Taco, I remember in places like Sacramento, Stockton, Merced, Modesto, and Fresno.

    I could imagine the public showing a preference for natural food items if they were offered, even if it has a slightly elevated cost. If I could buy a food item, and had to pay a few cents extra for the natural ingredients, I would gladly pay the difference.

    This was a very poorly done documentary. The number of barrels sold means nothing without knowing what the market share was. "Company X sold 18 million barrels at it's height in 1968" 18 million barrels was less than 0.5% of 1966 production. That tells me that the brewer was nothing more than a niche brewer and probably lost money. Nothing to really want back.

    What got me was once I stopped by a local coffee shop, it is a famous chain in Canada. Not hard to figure out, I bought a muffin and coffee took went for a hike. Not eating the muffin I put it in the console of a black vehicle this was in march and forgot all about it. I was looking for something in the car around September/ October I came across this bag and remembered want it was. Thinking I had a science experiment being a guy I looked in and found it was the same as the day I bought it wasn’t even hard it felt like it just came out of the oven. I have never been back to that chain or pretty much all fast food places, I only buy baked goods if I don’t make them myself is buy from a mom and pop shops.

    @xorngoh7303 Před dnem

    The real reason why these foods are vanishing from dinner tables are not due to modern dietary tastes. The TRUE reason is because not many people really want to cook at home anymore. The home setting for the 1950s to the 1980s is the traditional family dynamic where the wives stay home as the stay home housewives while the husbands are the breadwinners working outside. Nowadays, not only do the husbands have to work, the wives have to work as well. Most married couples nowadays are too tired to even make children or even have time to spend with their children, let alone coming home late at night and exhausted only to put in even more work and effort to cook dinner. And this is not counting that they still have to clean up the kitchen after cooking, which is extra work that comes with cooking. With the modern family setting and work schedules, modern families are simply too lazy and too tired to put in the effort to cook. Truth is there are MANY women who would rather be a housewife if they have a choice, especially the traditional women, it is just that the financial reality to sustain the household does not permit them to do so. If we can have the same economy, family setting and dynamics back, where my wife is a stay home mum and I can work alone to comfortably support the entire family, my wife would have chosen to be a housewife without a second thought. Fix the economy first, so that we can have this lifestyle and family setting back, and you can see many housewives, traditional families and many of such dishes start making a comeback.

    I still make some of these meals! Sloppy Joe, but my own sauce w/o the hfcs. Banana creme cupcakes, No more wax 👄! Never had honeycomb icecream, don’t remember it, Lobster Thermador? No thanks then, no thanks now! Don’t like creamy seafood anything! Magic Middles- OK, but don’t miss them. Reggie Bar- OK, don’t miss. Still serve stuffed peppers! I made them this past Monday! Tasty, economical, nutritious! Pop in glass bottles, still better, but don’t often drink pop. Space Food Sticks- Yuck! Chicken Pot Pie, we ate it yesterday! I make my own, much better than frozen! Butterscotch crimpettes, eh, butterscotch pie or pudding, we like it. Twinkies-never liked them except for my youngest son. Scalloped potatoes-homemade are great. I leave out the ham for nonreligious Muslim SIL, but she still doesn’t eat pig products, a cultural taboo. Tuna noodle casserole, my own version minus the milky stuff. Make curry tuna over pasta with veggies or mandarin orange slices in light syrup. Marathon bar- didn’t notice they were gone! Liver & onions? Thank you, Jesus, my husband and before, my father hated liver! We were spared! Animal crackers in the box with string handles, loved them as an occasional treat. But still buy bags of animal crackers as lite snack. Could make boxes without problem. Tunnel fudge cake- didn’t ever try. Beef Stroganoff-I make my own, maybe next week? Dagwood Sandwich? A giant hero? Order one for buffet at business luncheons! PB&J, yummy! Still eat it once a week when lunch on the move. Salisbury steak- occasionally for dinner. Fudgesickle- remember, but didn’t eat them. Chex Mix-made own in the ‘70’s? Sometimes buy it for snacking on road trips. Chicken a La King? Never liked it, so didn’t eat it, then or now! Pot roast-a hearty special for cold winter nights! Still make it when sale on beef! Corned beef and Cabbage! Make every St. Paddy’s Day, in pressure cooker, pistachio ice cream for dessert! Pink Snowballs- much too sweet! No thanks. Moon Pies, make my own for Halloween dessert. Shepherd’s Pie- still make in winter, esp. hot, hearty, filling! Devil Dogs- 3rd choice for school snack after Yodels, Ring Dings. Pork Chops and Apple Sauce, still make occasionally. A similar, Lamb Chops with Mint Jelly, Deviled Eggs-a standard hors d’ouvres. Dixie Pies- Blueberry, Lemon chiffon best. Clam Chowder-Manhattan CC rules! Much better tha New England, Oyster crackers w/both! Oyster crackers are good for just munching. Leftover is good on sandwiches for lunch. Never tried Pudding Pops. Chiffon Cake is still good. Make your own! Lemon Zest on top! Swedish Meatballs, an easy meal. Might make again. Number 1 makes no sense given ketchup is green to begin with but removal of the red from the get-go when it's made from green tomatoes and rather confusing.
