- The GLE 450e is all new from Mercedes Benz for 2024. On the outside you will find a new look to the front fascia grill and wheels. On the interior you will discover a full leather interior, (2) 12.3in screens and a panoramic sunroof. Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 paired with an electric motor that produces 381HP & mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes is doing fabulous work on this car. A wonderful mix of old and new. Mercedes is not going out of business any time soon with products like this. Small gas engines coupled with a modest battery give you good acceleration, decent mileage, and convenience for long trips. Lexus has a lot of hybrids, and i think for the next few years this is a great way to go.
One warning i have about Mercedes is don't buy too many of the options. I have a E350 4-matic with every option you could buy and all of the options broke, but the base car is solid as a rock. Mercedes is guilty of over-engineering their products, and their fancy doo-dads don't get tested enough.
Eventually when they double the energy density of EV's gas cars will drop off rapidly, but at current Lithium Ion chemistry, this is the way to go.

@@konstantinkennedy2244 builtin cell phone leaked and became completely obsolete, sunroof leaked, auto dimming side mirrors turned black, rear shade squeaks, and doesn't go up and down smoothly, automatic door unlocked failed, Navi system cost $$$ to update, fancy xenon HDI headlight igniter is cost $1000 for the electronic module, which is only rated for a few thousand hours before it has to be replaced. So yes Mercedes add on features can be dangerous because not enough people by them and they don't get tested.
I love these new 'hybrids'. you get the convenience of gas for family road trips all while having 40 miles of EV range, which for most is enough to go to work, grocery store, and back home. id much rather have a hybrid over full EV

I currently own a GLE Coupe 350d. It's a great ride for the driver. Apparently GLE has offroad capabilities so I agree they should've replaced fake vents with functional vents or fog lamps. I hope they come with better backseats. Backseats are super hard and a little too straight up. Otherwise, GLE is a beast on the road.
Hey Joe! I dig the Mercedes GLE450e the Apostle to the Luxury SUV's and I dig the Fake vents, the flat black cladded fender, & the fake Exhaust I feel like without those things, there'll be a bland slab of metal.

just test drove one at the dealership today. fully charged battery indicates 53 miles of range (not 40).

This suv is everyday commuting luxury. Great review Joe ! I was lucky enough to go pick up my boss from the airport in his 2021 Mercedes-Benz G-Class G 550 & it was absolutely insane what that 7000lbs suv can do lol

This is a nice looking Mercedes Benz the zonk is the black cladding around the wheels and side skirts. Rather have dark chrome and knock off the exhaust trim rings. Thanks Joe and Stevenđđ

I see seat control on the door for 2nd row seats, which package/option gets them? I have been told by the dealer its not an option for 450e due to battery setup at the trunk.

Ready to trade my RX 450H in and would LOVE to get a Mercedes, but am hesitant because of reliability/owner cost issue(s). Thoughts?
Rare you see you a red Mercedes I like mine in silver, white, or black those are the best but the red is working. One zonk I see is the flat black fenders. They donât work well here and with that price tag I expect color matched fenders

I was curious what they do with the GLE 450. Got rid of of the 6 cylinder as expected. Seems like a good combination of power and fueled economy. Would love to see this with black optics package and larger wheels.

The interior color options are better with the facelift I like the interior color of this more than old beige

Kinda high starting price, closest competition is X5 50e and XC90 Recharge which both start about 72. The Bimmer also gets about 40 miles of range.

In 2022 this was the single lowest rated car on consumer reports for reliability and more.
We had a GLE500e (Iâm European, itâs the V6 Plug-in hybrid) brand new, the car was at the shop more than it was on the road. We got an Audi Q7 after that and never looked back

Mercedes was the lowest rated brand for reliability not this specific car. CR didn't have enough data to rank the small brands that typically have low reliability in other surveys. Like Maserati and Jaguar. MB also has a lot more features and motors for automation. More things that can go wrong lead to more things going wrong.

I've been owning the previous gen. ML350 for 12 years now and thinking to replace with the new GLE, but why do people want this 450e? If u want more torque, u would get the regular 450 or 580, if u want to save some money you would go for 350, what's gonna happen if the electricity all used up while driving, will the battery gets charge by the gas engine in hybrid mode? Will the 248 hp gets drastically reduced while charging?
Nobody has ever mention about that EV range when all used up during highway. Also they offer 4zone climate control as option.

Weâre currently deciding between an X5 and the GLE. The GLE interior is nicer, but the Mercedes engine choices arenât ideal.
The 450 has a nice engine, but this 450e PHEV is disappointing compared to the X5 xDrive50e. That little four banger is surprisingly peppy, but wouldnât consider it for a minute, even in PHEV setup. The 50e pairs the 3.0L six with a good electric engine, which adds up to near M level performance.
Same here...If the Mercedes offered a 3.0L 6 we would consider it more...Also BMW has hands free highway driving and Mercedes doesn't, plus better reliability...This Merc is lacking a lot imho
@@pete64041 They do offer a six cylinder as the GLE 450, but itâs an extra $8k USD. It does make a huge difference in performance, but I still liked the BMW better.
I ended up ordering an X5. The B58 engine with the ZF transmission is a great setup and I spent the extra money on a ton of options since you donât have to pay extra for the good drivetrain with the BMW.

@@pete64041 yeah. Itâs crazy that Mercedes is putting a four banger in a car this size. I drove and itâs passable on flat freeways, but I live in a mountainous area and that wonât do.
September isnât bad really for an order.
With electricity at $.36 per kwh, the PHEV doesnât make sense for me, so went with the 40i. Most dealers were telling me anywhere from 2-4 months, but one of them was on the ball and got me a late august/ early September delivery for my 40i, so Iâm fine with that. Canât wait

@@pete64041 oh and make sure to get the multi-contour seats if you can. The regular seats are nice, but the multi-contour are next level comfort. Had to have it and itâs worth the $750.

M-B are beautiful cars. Lease it and don't buy out the lease and you'll LOVE it. Keep it past the warranty and you'll probably come to loathe it with a passion.
It's better than a Land Rover, but that doesn't say much. But for 3 years? Yep, I'd lease it.
At starting price of 77k, this GLE PHEV may be upstaged by the upcoming 2024 X5 PHEV....
I didn't know we were getting a GLE phev! Interesting. They both will have basically 40 miles of electric only range, so really it just comes down to whether you're a Mercedes guy or a BMW guy. For me personally, I like BMW a bit more. I really wish the X6 had the phev. I don't understand why it doesn't. The shape is more conducive for the EV aspect of it.
Looking at the engines now. Yes, Mercedes missed the mark. They are putting a 4 cylinder engine in this for 381 total system hp. BMW has their 6 cylinder in the X5 phev for 100 more total hp! Now I definitely take the X5, especially since pricing with options are basically the same!
I like it.. but I'm leaning towards the 2024 Cayenne coupe e hybrid. It gets 55 miles of pure electric range. But it starts at $97K for the coupĂ© đą
@Ron G yes its the next price level up. Porsche have great SUVs-- and they command a premium-- plus extra options bring the price up even more. In my view-- the '24 X5 phev is the value pick. If I were looking past 100k, I would check out the full size Range Rover phev.
@@R56Cooper Man I wholeheartedly agree with everything you stated. I was looking at the RR sport phev. I love it, but reliability issues really scares me away from going for it. I have 2011 bmw 535i and also love how bmws move. So now I want the supposedly next level of driving. I've been saving 10 years for this, so I'm going for it. Already placed my down-payment on an 2024 allocation
@Ron G thats great man! Yeah, based on pricing-- the RRsport PHEV starts at 105k-- with the full-size phev RR only 5k higher. Thankfully this year, range rovers now come standard with lane centering + adaptive cruise! While the Bimmer PHEV X5 is about 30k lower, the buyer still has to add a la carte Driver Assistance Professional package in order to get the semi-autonomous brand new Highway Assistant. Really looking forward to seeing how competent that system is-- will make long drives a breeze. I know the Bimmer will have superior driving dynamics-- the whole package-- but the Rovers feel special. They are able to be very luxurious and their exterior design is #1! Since you have saved up so diligently-- I would definitely recommend doing extended test drives with the 3 candidates you will be seriously considering (cayenne coupé, x5 phev, RR phev). Either way-- I do feel that plug-in hybrids are a best of both worlds vehicle. I had an BEV for one year-- and traded it in after the frustrations of public charging during roadtrips! PHEV is the way!

I own a 2023 GLE53 right now, before I purchased this car I asked the sale if it would come out PHEV, and he just said no Mercedes don't do hybrid, either full EV or Petro. Otherwise, I'll wait and get this Plugin.
