I have to say, I totally agree. I was a die hard YMH fan for the longest time, and truly felt that they were pushing boundaries in omedy podcasting there for a long time. YMH has kind of fallen off for me lately, so this podcast has really filled that void for me.

I agree...it really sucks to find out what you thought was friendly banter by going out and virtually yelling it to a million people instead of telling him privately that he was bothered would hurt my feelings too. you can tell with the way his voice got all shaky he was on the verge of crying. cause the guilt you feel when you find that out is a whole thing by itself, but having thousands of people start riding your ass (despite phil's insistence that no one do so, when you have a huge audience like phil or ethan, you have to be conscientious of what a public shaming will cause. With Peace and Love, Phil pulled a Nickocado here (which is ironic, as they transitioned right into a story about Nick and never even made the connection). They get into a little verbal sparring, they're going back and forth, and then Ethan really lays in, and the other guy goes "Ethan is saying insane things about me and it's not ok." It's like ok, man, first off, you guys were playing a game. You engaged in the game! Ethan took it too far. Ok fine, then just say that, and say it directly to him. You don't need to publicize it to tell him in this total roundabout way. Second of all, the fact that Phil said it without at all acknowledging that it was part of a game that they were BOTH playing back & forth. If he insists on doing it via public callout (he shouldn't), he should've said "Ethan Klein, challenging me to a celebrity boxing match, keeps taking things way too far and makes it way too real, targeting things that he knows very personally affect me." I could get with that. HOWEVER, if Phil was to say that, the whole context and tone of his callout changes, and I think it would stand out as a real overreaction. Being hurt is not an overreaction, but taking out time on your news show to publicly call out Ethan because he took your guys' game too far is an overreaction.

Exactly, I think Phil really created his own issues here because as important as it is to valid Phil's feelings about this situation, it is also important to look at Ethan's perspective. Ethan couldn't remember the last time he had said a remark about Phil's body other than the time with Trisha which was ages ago, he also saw the mean comments they shared between each other as equal banter and I think Phil should've really thought about that. If Phil had come to Ethan way earlier there wouldn't have been an issue and everyone would've felt better, Ethan wouldn't feel so guilty and betrayed and Phil wouldn't have had all this pent up stuff against Ethan.

I agree...it really sucks to find out what you thought was friendly banter by going out and virtually yelling it to a million people instead of telling him privately that he was bothered would hurt my feelings too. you can tell with the way his voice got all shaky he was on the verge of crying.
cause the guilt you feel when you find that out is a whole thing by itself, but having thousands of people start riding your ass (despite phil's insistence that no one do so, when you have a huge audience like phil or ethan, you have to be conscientious of what a public shaming will cause. Its bewildering to find out that at all, when you both have made jabs at each other in what anyone would have assumed was friendly banter, it feels kinda weird that he only brings up ethan as clickbait and negative reactions to something he's said or done.

With Peace and Love, Phil pulled a Nickocado here (which is ironic, as they transitioned right into a story about Nick and never even made the connection). They get into a little verbal sparring, they're going back and forth, and then Ethan really lays in, and the other guy goes "Ethan is saying insane things about me and it's not ok." It's like ok, man, first off, you guys were playing a game. You engaged in the game! Ethan took it too far. Ok fine, then just say that, and say it directly to him. You don't need to publicize it to tell him in this total roundabout way.
Second of all, the fact that Phil said it without at all acknowledging that it was part of a game that they were BOTH playing back & forth. If he insists on doing it via public callout (he shouldn't), he should've said "Ethan Klein, challenging me to a celebrity boxing match, keeps taking things way too far and makes it way too real, targeting things that he knows very personally affect me." I could get with that. HOWEVER, if Phil was to say that, the whole context and tone of his callout changes, and I think it would stand out as a real overreaction. Being hurt is not an overreaction, but taking out time on your news show to publicly call out Ethan because he took your guys' game too far is an overreaction.
how would ethan react if phil and friends laughed about his body live? it's not just about the comments, it's the whole situation. and last time phil privately texted ethan about something similar he aired it out on the podcast
Exactly, I think Phil really created his own issues here because as important as it is to valid Phil's feelings about this situation, it is also important to look at Ethan's perspective. Ethan couldn't remember the last time he had said a remark about Phil's body other than the time with Trisha which was ages ago, he also saw the mean comments they shared between each other as equal banter and I think Phil should've really thought about that. If Phil had come to Ethan way earlier there wouldn't have been an issue and everyone would've felt better, Ethan wouldn't feel so guilty and betrayed and Phil wouldn't have had all this pent up stuff against Ethan.
just to add on, it was entirely Phil's responsibility I think, Ethan was completely clueless, there was no way for Ethan to figure out how Phil felt
