    So I have a home assistant yellow that should be here in a couple days and I ordered this z wave device before hand. Would I be able to install it onto the yellow before i boot it for the first time?

    Great video. Have you backed up and restored NVM? I tried and bricked my 2nd ZST39. Has this happened to you? How do you fix it?

      Glad you liked the video!
      I have not tried to backup or restore NVM. It seems like it might be broken for the 800 series based on this: github.com/zwave-js/node-zwave-js/issues/5257

    Off course with my luck it failed to install. Sent a ticket to manufacturer but don’t know what to do now.

    Hello I have an old veralite with about 25-30 zwave devices attached to it and several scenes that get used daily. Here lately it’s been real bugging and seems that Vera sold out and is not supporting it anymore. Can the home assistant with a zwave card handle this many devices and scenes? Thanks.

    Thanks for the video. I'm a little confused by the disabling bluetooth part. If I'm using the onboard bluetooth of my raspberry pi with Home Assistant I won't be able to use it when using this card? I have to choose Z-wave or Bluetooth?

    • @BeardedTechGuy

      The installation instructions for the GPIO module have the following "NOTE: You will need to disable Bluetooth when using this module and install it on pins 1-10 (including the 5V pins). Please keep that in mind when planning your hardware installation."
      I believe this is in reference to onboard BT and would not matter if you have a USB dongle for BT. Likewise, there is an 800 series USB dongle Zooz has that could be used instead of the GPIO module and does not have the warning about having to disable Bluetooth.
      Here is a discussion I found on moving UART around on the RPI4: forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=340412 . Not sure if helpful for your usecase.
      Just a note - with the HA Yellow Bluetooth is dependent on the Raspberry Pi CM installed (the one that comes with the "complete kit" does not have Bluetooth onboard).

      @@BeardedTechGuy Thanks BTG. I liked how the GPIO module would be compact and discreet and remove the need for another dongle. I'm already using a zigbee dongle and a z-wave series 500 dongle, so this was appealing. I'd hate to trade Bluetooth for it. (even though my z-wave devices outnumber Bluetooth 35 to 1. :) )

      I haven't found a use case for Bluetooth yet (probably because I've had Home Assistant for a few weeks only now lol) but I think if I end up needing Bluetooth I might look into doing Bluetooth proxy. Seems kind of neat and removes the need for a dongle :)
      Out of curiosity, what are you using Bluetooth with Home Assistant for?

    I have read that ZWave JS doesn't support Long range yet... Is that still true?

    • @BeardedTechGuy
      @BeardedTechGuy  Před 10 měsíci

      I saw that a while ago but I can't find anything on it being supported or not supported now. I don't see anything in HA that indicates anything, and I only have the controller that's 800 series so I can't really test it out either.
