Sauron is so nice, he hands out friendship rings and all.
And makes the One Ring to obey only him so it won't corrupt weaker people.
lyon laurent I know, so foresightful
Leonard F
it's a joke
+Kassie Stepanova So that they will be friends with him forever and ever and will never ditch or leave him. He is incredibly dedicated and passionate when it comes to maintaining his friendships
+Kazuto Kirigaya Yeah.
Galadriel has the wrong idea, Freedom?
He is JUST TRYING TO HAVE FRIENDS!!!
:D
The voice of Cate Blanchett is epic *_*
+Angela very nice feminine voice...love women :)
+Angela and shes so beatiful...
". . . . . . . ........who above all things, desire POWER."
Everything about that woman is epic.
There is just great enunciation and boom in her voice, which makes her ten times more attractive.

Except my mom. Sees one Orc: "eww, that's disgusting, I'm not watching that!"

@@Grimlock1979 ahahah mine is the same, actually she's really scared of them :D
Almost without a doubt the greatest introduction in the entire history of cinema.
Yeah, the Two Towers had a pretty amazing opening too :)

Michał Wiśniewski meh. They are two different types. Lotr’s is epic and dune is just an overview of what is going on. I also don’t like how much the intro gives away about the guild. In the book, as far as I can remember, the guild expressed an interest in the spice early on but it was thought to be profit related but it wasn’t known yet they they were completely dependent on it. I could be wrong on this as it’s been awhile since I read it though.

2nd only to Shrek bathing in a swamp to Smashmouth's Allstar
Cate's voice is ageless, and timeless. Its femininity ties closer to nature than humanity, mild and subtle moves like many leaves of a grand tree in gentle breezes. Perfect.
Derrick Liu Jesus, dude! That was beautiful!
I was drinking some crispy Sauvignon Blanc while watching this.
Wearing a silk robe, puffing on a pipe, stroking your mustache by the fireplace
Tosin Adekanye Almost right, except we don't have a fireplace. It's rather rare to have a fireplace in urban suburbs now.
i read this in cate blanchetts voice
I can never get enough of this prologue.

0:58 "who above all else, desired power"
I could totally hear and agree with Galadriel's tone of disappointment in men.
And she says the Elves are the wisest and fairest. Come on! Don't try to ignore your fucking uncle and cousins, Galadriel.
+Malgalad “The Blade of Fire” Naurmegil She said 'of all beings' , she is talking about middle earth and in comparison with dwarves and men , then yes, Elves were the wisest and fairest.
***** Mankind were the only ones to turn into wraiths. The Dwarves, while hardier, still succumbed to their lust for gold, caused by the Seven. I do agree with the Elves.
+BaritoneMufasa The Master of Laketown proved her right lol
Now, don't be hasty BaritoneMufasa - it says in Silmarillion:
"Galadriel, the only woman of the Noldor to stand that day tall and valiant among the contending princes, was eager to be gone ... the words of Fëanor concerning Middle-earth had kindled in her heart, for she yearned to see the wide unguarded lands and to rule there a realm at her own will."
Some have argued, and I think this theme is in some of Tolkien's Letters, that Galadriel's test with the One later on is actually a variant of this same test to desire control and order. When she passes the test, she realises her folly to desire power and this is why she decided to leave - she accepted her fate to return to Valinor as all Elves would for the Dominion of Men.
Galadriel is being disingenuous to Men here like all the other Elves are in the film trilogy, presumably because their vantage point as immortals. However the irony, in the film's terms, is that Elrond feels fear for his daughter's death (humans started fearing death after Morgorth started rumours that it was a curse, not a gift) and Legolas is occasionally humbled as quite ignorant of the human condition to be brave and fight because they choose to rather than because they can win, to the point of eventually becoming assimilated and just follows Aragorn and Gimli regardless. Similarly, Galadriel lusted for power originally when she sailed for Middle Earth as stated above. Ultimately it takes the human characters to show the Elves that they can do the right thing and even show them a thing or two along the way. The friendship of Frodo and Sam, is perhaps the best example of all.
The way Kate retells the story is out of this world!!! Her voice, her pronunciation... Her voice is made for it.
The first 8 minutes of The Fellowship of the Ring was better than the entire first season of The Rings of Power.
Wrong
@@khalildz1552 Rings of Power got snubbed entirely by the Golden Globes while this Peter Jackson had awards. You’re not one to know what good storytelling is.
@@khalildz1552 Hes right.Rings of power is entirely trash in portraying the characters and cringe inducing dialogues.
People make excuses “but it’s a tv show, these were high budget movies”. It’s like, ok but this is the most expensive show in history, you can’t do better than a trilogy made in 1999-2000? Not even the visuals are better. Too plasticky and polished.
@Marieux its written shittly nothing makes sense and the characters are shit... the end. Its not that deep
- It doesn't get more Epic than this!
The best fantasy trilogy ever made - no contest at all. What a mind-blowingly perfect introduction to the magical realm of Middle-Earth!

Lotr is not fantasy it's a way of life you fool of a took
@@lavidaemo3291 If I were to be specific, the correct term/genre for lotr would be High Fantasy, but yeah I love anything from the Tolkien legendarium - I'm a proud fanboy (or should I even say fanatic) of anything related to lotr and Tolkien to say the least.
His (J.R.R Tolkien) writings and literary legacy is the best, and in my humble opinion, definitely most influential works of fiction of the 20th century - without the slightest of doubt! I mean come on, to start of he invented 3 languages from scratch - just to give an example!
But yeah you're definitely right - it is indeed a way of life , I totally get you man - nicely put :)
EDIT: I apologize for the way too long reply - I didn't mean to write a whole essay. I just can't help but to geek out sometimes, especially about lotr.
After watching the new Amazon teaser….it reminded me how amazing Cate’s monologue was. And how much it’s needed.
Went here to cleanse my ear, morrrrdorrrrr
Wokes of Power suck
Who came here after seen Amazon Prime announcement and needed to hear Cate’s deep voice again. 🙋🏼♀️
I knew something was missing from that trailer. After hearing Cate's voice, I can finally relax
It’s so goooood
🤣🤣🤣 you said it

Yes! Exactly! Even with headphones on and max volume to enjoy it! 🤣🤣🤣
Best intro/prologue ever. Gives me the chills
Without a doubt...her voice along mesmerized me ❤️
Also, most thought-out episode in the whole series. It really feels like a standalone short movie sometimes.
How can 2 seconds of Galadriel be better than a whole season of Galadriel on Rings of Power?
Cate Blanchett has a lot to do with it.
I still can't believe it's been a billion dollars on that show and they couldn't afford Cate B.
@@moroteseoinageshe is 53 years old and also way above that as an actress
Her age helps out a lot ... the inexperienced galadriel isn't as smart and cunning as this galadriel
@@oh4539 they said the same about her in the hobbir and look how she turned out there :)
nothing photoshop and modern technology cant fix. They could at least have her voice as a narrator
After reading the Silmarillion I have so much more appreciation for Galadriel's character, she has been through and seen so much in her very long life. Her grandfather was the highest king of the Noldor, until he was assassinated by Morgoth, then she witnessed her uncle Feanor commit the first kinslaying of her mother's people. Then she was left in Aman by Feanor and was forced to cross the Helcaraxe into Beleriand, a crossing during which many of her fellow Noldor died, but she survived. She became a member of the court of Melian, a Maia queen of the forest, where she learned how to rule, while her entire family led great conquests and waged wars just outside the protective barrier of Doriath. Due to she and her kin rebelling against the Valar, she is forbidden to return to the Undying Lands because of their transgression. Over her thousands of years of exile, she lived through the destruction of Beleriand, and the creation of the rings and the ensuing wars. She witnessed the light of the trees, and their destruction, the first coming of Men into the West in the first age, she witnessed the defeat of Morgoth in the war of wrath, and due to her amazing beauty and influence, she has always been a major character since very early on. By the time the Lord of the Rings occurs, her aid to the Fellowship in the quest to destroy the ring redeems her from being exiled and she is finally allowed to return home after nearly 7,000 years in the East.
Oh, woah, would you recommend? I've been on the fence about starting the Silmarillion.
@@MG-ho5pu Read it! Its a bit hard to understand due to names etc but once you get familiar with them its just amazing. A MUST READ. LOTRs and the Hobbit is like 5% of the history of Middle Earth. All the things the main comment explained are taken from the Silmarillion.
@@MG-ho5pu it's the most epic book I've ever read. Many characters and locations to keep up with, but completely worth it! I highly recommend also using the Atlas of Middle Earth, it helps to understand some of the context.
@@MG-ho5pu You may need some notes and searching outside of the book to understand it, specially at first as it can put off many people. It is written in a biblical or saga format (no dialog but prose). Even if it seems hard at the beginning and you may feel tenpted to put it aside, be constant and continue. It really pays off. Thats my best advice. Wikipedia even helps understanding if you have questions or misunderstandings.
@@Alejojojo6 Couldn't have said it better myself. I was turned off at first as well, I thought it was confusing, but the LOTR wiki helped me a lot. The events and characters are truly amazing if you take the time to research and understand them fully! It's even worth a second read, because you will catch things that you didn't notice the first time, and it makes it that much better.

Best opening sequence to any movie...EVER!!!
In a completely different way, the one from deadpool is also one of the best... bu this tops everything
I wish Cate Blanchett did an unabridged audiobook version of LOTR. Her voice is so melodic and epic at the same time. After 3 decades of the audiobook being out an alternative to Rob Inglis would be nice
Apparently Andy Serkis did an audiobook version of Fellowship, if you're interested.

Who is here after watching the series trailer and missed Cate's voice
Here to cleanse my eyes and soul after watching ROP first episode.
The world is changed
I feel it in the water
I feel it in the earth
I smell it in the air
Much that once was is lost
For none now live who remember it
It began with the forging of the Great Rings
Three were given to the Elves
Immortal, wisest, and fairest of all beings
Seven to the Dwarf Lords
Great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls
And nine
Nine Rings were gifted to the Race of Men
Who above all else desire power
For within these Rings were bound the strength and will to govern each Race
But they were all of them deceived
For another Ring was made
In the Land of Mordor
In the Fires of Mount Doom
The Dark Lord Sauron forged in Secret a Last Ring to control all others
And into this Ring he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life
One Ring to rule them all
One by one Free Lands of Middle Earth fell to the Power of the Ring
But there were some who resisted
A Last Alliance of Men and Elves marched against the Armies of Mordor
And on the slopes of Mount Doom they fought for the freedom of Middle Earth
Victory was near
But the Power of the Ring could not be undone
It was in this moment when all hope had faded
That Isildur, Son of the King, took up his father’s sword
Sauron, the enemy of the Free Peoples of Middle Earth, was defeated
The Ring passed to Isildur
Who had his one chance to destroy Evil forever
But the hearts of Men are easily corrupted
And the Ring of Power has a will of it’s own
It betrayed Isildur to his death
And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost
History became legend
Legend became myth
And for two and a half thousand years the Ring passed out of all knowledge
Until, when chance came, it ensnared a new Bearer
The Ring came to the creature Gollum
Who took it deep into the tunnels of the Misty Mountains
And there it consumed him
The Ring brought to Gollum unnatural long life
For five hundred years it poisoned his mind
And in the gloom of Gollum’s Cave it waited
Darkness crept back into the Forests of the World
Rumor grew of a Shadow east
Whispers of a Nameless Fear
And the Ring of Power perceived
Its time had now come
It abandoned Gollum
But something happened then the Ring did not intend
It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable
A hobbit, Bilbo Baggins of the Shire
For the time will soon come
When hobbits will shape the fortunes of all
Really? That many grammatical errors?
Forged in secret *a master ring*… not last ring.
Dont mind them🙄, thank you sooo much for this👏👏👏👏👏❤️

I had to come back here after the new amazon trailer, ears successfully washed
For real though. :D I feel freshened.

one of the greatest voice i have ever heard...
What was always so cool about LOTR and The hobbit was how there were these legends. So much history. Galadriel talking here. The way the dwarves speak of Erebor. You feel this nostalgia in a world that doesn't truly exist.
Sauron has some 2 minutes of screen time and spends the rest of the 12 hours of runtime as an eyeball but he’s one of the most terrifying villains in cinematic history. How the filmmakers managed this miracle, only they know.
The world is changed. I feel it in the water, I feel it in the Earth... I smell it in the air. Much that once was, is lost, for none now live who remember it.
The most poetic, beautifully written opening of a movie. Ever.
The film's allegory can be sorted out to a degree with the help of my philosophy of history book, "The guide of the post-cataclysmic Catholic". theguideofthepostcataclysmiccatholic.blogspot.com/2020/10/the-guide-of-post-cataclysmic-catholic_22.html?m=1
That last line always gives me a headache. Tolkien was truly a master of words
“….for none now live to remember it…”
Except all of the Elves, Gandalf, Saruman and all the other wizards, and Galadriel herself, the story teller. And Tom Bombadil. And the Ents.
Best cinematic opening ever. From Cate's mesmerizing voice to this huge battle with epic music.
And that was it.... Ever since the beginning... The first moment I saw this I knew I belong to this forever! A pure masterpiece!!! There must be some special magic spell behind this... The voice, the soundtrack, the scenario... Nothing will ever beat this!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Greatest movie of all times!!!
Goy Guy What is it?
Well I mean it was Peter Jackson, a master in his own right, given a masterpiece to work with. The lord of the rings made modern fantasy. And this was before the movies. Books today struggle to even graze what Tolkien fully embodied. He almost didn’t become an author, and that is a scary thought.
The prologue is a movie on its own, a promise, a hook, a masterpiece…
This woman sure knows how to make a perfect intro.
Yea she is, her name is Cate Blanchett. You might want to watch TAR film or blue jasmine film

I dont understand... they wanted to say FUCK YOU to the audience when they decided to put THAT song at the end when fucking Halbrand aka Sauron wannabe didnt yet create the rings for dwarves and men in the show? That series is serious shit
That shockwave though. I remember seeing this in a newly refurbished Embassy Theatre in Wellington and as that sound reverberated through me, I knew this was going to be one of the greatest films ever
Can't believe Amazon had ONE BILLION dollars in budget and it still doesn't look this good
The major problem is not how it looks, is that the writing is total garbage.
@@DocStrange0123 But they could've hired some good writers with that money. There are actual university professors who major in Tolkien and his world.
@@PiginaCage They could do so many things but in the end they chose to do everything wrong, they actually had one and fired him, Tom Shippey, they also contacted with Peter Jackson, he was ok to help as they requested but he asked for a script or something to read, then they ghosted him...
This shit raises my hair like non other
21 years ago I went to see it in the cinema. If there was ever a movie that's timeless, it's this. This is as good now as it was then
Cate's voice is out of this world. She was fantastic in this films and in Thor ragnarok too.
Too many people thinking they can pull of a Cate B in 2022... cough* 'There is a tempest in me... cough cough...'
comparing this galaderiel to the ROP one is eye opening, this one is like 1000 times more likeable and convincing.
I'm here after watching the power of the rings trailer and damn, Cate Blanchett knocked it out the park.
Hearing her speak this thrills, haunts and seduces me every time... I always think J.R.R. Tolkien would be captivated by her voice as well! So thankful I was alive to read these books and see these films! Some of my favorite things about life. Happy Hobbit Day to all the fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's writing and Peter Jackson's films that honor his work so brilliantly! xo
hard to compare the new intro to this, cate's just out of this world

"But they were all of them deceived . . . " My favorite line of this excellent prologue.
OMFG I love her voice 😍
...Much that once was is lost

Goosebumps every time.
All the unaccounted centuries, we have no idea about... Tolkien really knew how to write fiction...
Best intro to a movie series of all time
I just finished watching the entire trilogy and am off to watch it again! Greatest Introduction ever and the greatest trilogy ever.
I couldn't compare it with rings of power series...this in a legenderous story
3 minutes and still way better than the whole first season of rings of power
no one can beat cate for its opening speech as lady galadriel
Elves with long hair, are the best
How about black elves and black dwarves?
This voice over was so much more captivating than the one in RoP.
Epic opening and beautifully read by Cate.
If you see carefully in the scene of the kings of men you can read on their faces the sadeness and even the goodness, the kings slaved....a very poetic detail in this scene.

Cate Blanchett, one of my favo actresses...
Cate’s Galadriel is much more powerful, feminine and beautiful.
Galadriel is very calm even though she talking about her getting deceived
Way back in 1998 Cate Blanchette had already been another queen : Elizabeth I. This is the second time Cate Blanchette has been queen
If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it.
Germán Villarroel Segundo he did... then some douche cut it off
How does this not have a thousand more likes👍👍???
This introduction alone is far better than the Rings of Power. (although up until this point in time there have only been 6 episodes)
That depth of voice without losing femininity is the perfect balance...

One of the most inspirational characters in this story. Galadriel played so many parts in the story. Defeating the overpowering force of the ring and letting it go. And then when Frodo is in a lost moment beyond the gates of Mordor, she guides him and helps to overcome his immortal connection to the ring. Even for a short period. She plays such a crucial role and Kate Blanchett killed it. So controlled. Amazing.
