I feel for him. He seemed really invested and she would’ve been lost without him but honestly, what did he expect? He should’ve known that what she really needed was a friend to stand by her side while she got to know herself & the world, not starting a family. I’m not saying he was ill intended but she has so much maturing to do that it seemed kinda icky to me that a grown man would be with someone who in her mind, is still a child. Seems like a low self esteem led him to choose someone who didn’t have many other options. Perhaps he didn’t realize that she’d get as warm of a welcome by society as she did and thought she would still need him while he protected and defended her. Now she knows what it feels like to have attention and options. She probably didn’t understand that but he should have. Anyone who marries someone who is in prison (unless they already had a relationship prior) gives me pause.

But I do have to say Bravo to the dad and fam for allowing her to figure it out for herself. She needs to learn from experience. If they had pushed her away for her choices, she may not have felt free to leave.

Exactly my sentiment. When she came out from prison, there was this news barrage and media tour fit for a superstar to the point that i had no choice but to search who she is. Yes it was that in your face and very off considering her case. She is not faultless compared to those children locked up by their parents who also got a similar media fanfare but not to this extent. I would understand it more if she is somewhat of a beauty but no. She was also saying she wants to help victims..where did that lie go???

Its typical for the incarcerated to latch onto a support figure outside of prison in order to transition, usually around the time of release.
People in prison need somewhere to go, when they’re released. It’s common for people outside of prisons to take advantage of their need, as well…so common, it’s a cliche. I’m not talking about this case at all, because I don’t know what happened. Just adding that people prey on women who just got out all the time. Not every time, but frequently. Some women take advantage of men who just got out, as well. Once woman I knew, who did so, had been abused in the past and wanted to have the power, this time around. I’ve worked with CA and DV victims and most want equality. A few want to reverse the balance of power, those who believe there is always a victim, in relationships. I heard a street person describe this way of thinking as, “Do unto others, before others do unto you.” Every relationship isn’t like that, but that’s their perception.
I think she should have listened to her Dad and step mom. It's ok to be alone. Find yourself and learn to love you!
That's what her dad and step mom recommended, not to rush Into marriage because she did need to heal internally yet they did want her to be happy and ultimately they were right. At the end of the day, she'll be learning from her mistakes.
