Also gypsy didn’t know for sure if she didn’t actually have any illnesses mental or physical. She didn’t have concrete proof that she didn’t have muscular dystrophy, leukemia etc. And she also said that thought of escaping never crossed her mind. Her mother physically, mentally, and emotionally abused her. But still in interviews said that at some point she did love her mother.

The first time Gypsy ran away her mum convinced a lawyer to write up papers stating that she was mentally incapable of looking after herself. She told Gypsy that if she ran away again she would show the police the papers and they will bring her right back and no one would believe her. I felt trapped myself hearing that.

A lot of people ignore this detail. She was mentally emotionally and physically abused. In her mind this was the only option, because she was a victim of abuse.
I was thinking that and going to look into it. I truly believe that she would have been trapped for life. Her mom probably would have given her stronger meds to make sure she got worse.
She also run away to a guy once, she trusted and met at a convention. Well Dee Dee got her back and said she was only 15. This is probably one of the reasons why Gipsy didn't believe that just telling or running away couldn't save her. She thought as long her mum was around, there will never be an escape. Some people expect her to behave like an educated and normal adult but remember she was homeschooled by her mother who kept her shut from society. I cringe every time a person says "ShE JUst hAd to caLL 911"

I just watched this entire documentary. What a shame that this Child was failed by so many people and by so much of the medical establishment that it's incomprehensible. She actually seems like a very sweet kid that just never had a chance in life. I hope she finds happiness when she gets out.

They could've been the most wholesome couple ever. I liked that her bf loved her for who she was but it's really disappointing that they chose that route. I understand kind of. My brother didn’t eat when he was younger and he refused for a week. They couldn’t force feed him. So he had a feeding tube for three years because of it. So I sort of understand because that’s the only thing they can do. But she could’ve taken it down when she was older and that doesn’t excuse the other “conditions”

I don't blame doctors. The mother lied and mimicked these diseases with the cluster of drugs she force fed her daughter. When a doctor got suspicious the mother would switch to a different doctor and say medical records were lost in the hurricane.
andrielisilien so true and not only that people fail to realize that not every diseases comes back positive on a test the first time around if ever. It took me 2 different doctors 2 specialist and many trips to the ER to finally be diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. When I parents goes into an office with what seems like legit medical history with a tragic backstory it’s extremely hard for you to just turn away treatment for them. Gypsy looked physically ill so that differently didn’t help. It sucks we have to stop putting so much trust in doctors who are also flawed and still learning everyday.

It wasn’t self defence at all, her boyfriend kill her mom, and she was in the other room laughing while her mom was screaming, she needs therapy, and her boyfriend too, but I don’t consider this self defence, and also her mom needed therapy, because what her mom had was called Syndrome of Münchausen, which It’s a mental illness and a form of child abuse. The caregiver of the child, often the mother, invents false symptoms or provokes real symptoms to make it appear that the child is ill.

And there are some beautiful girls that compete in those pageants. Not much goes into the judgement of talent, intelligence or knowledge of world events, haha. But you do have to be pretty, sexy and have some swag, lol. I guess she did have all those things...........once. She may have even grown into a normal and likeable woman if she hadn't gotten pregnant with Gypsy. Maybe if she were without any children Munchausen by proxy may have never even started or would have remained dormant and never reared its head if there was no Gypsy. Too bad Rod didn't fight a little more for joint custody. He definitely could have gotten time with her and maybe even found out the truth so that DeeDee wouldn't have been murdered. But he didn't really try too hard to try and see her. Was fine with just sending money. I know he said he tried, but obviously not that hard because the court would have ordered DeeDee to comply because I think he already had partial custody. Grrrrr. Frustrating.

Our legal system is really broken. Self-defense is a joke because the court doesn't care. As long as you did the crime, you'll go down anyway. It's really hard to get off on that.

. The mother was a MASTER manipulator but like I still DONT understand how “some” doctors actually believed it and performed surgeries etc. Doctors now a days TELL YOU what’s wrong with your child and sometimes how to raise them lol the heck but yeah so sad.

Tracie Henderson not all doctors are the smartest, like where the saying "get a second opinion" comes from. My mom was pregnant with me and my twin but the doctor in the area didn't know she was having twins till she moved and saw a different doctor. My mom even had like a broken back and for a year or so of so much pain and stuff just told her she was a exhausted mother. It wasn't till she saw a new doctor who did tests that saw her back was so bad he cleared he schedule the next day to do her surgery! And theres lots of illnesses that can't exactly be tested for or are hard to test for like lupus. But of stories like that and of what i heard doctors usually don't want to put a diagnosis or do surgery unless they have all the facts checked out. But this mom if she found a doctor who was actually good and said the true results instead of what she wanted to hear which was yes your kid is very sick then she would stop seeing that doctor. But yes its still messed up. I would think the doctors or someone in the medical field would've talked to her by herself one on one. But sadly i think even if that happened her mom trained her on how to act and say. Sadly theres not a universal website or program, idk something that every person has that any doctor you have or go to can look into and see what other doctors had tested for and results about the paictent. Like theres nothing wrong with child but mom keeps pushing serious illnesses. Instead when you go to a doctor you have to provide the reports and diagnosis from other doctors yourself. So in that environment the mom got to weed out what she liked and didn't like of what results past doctors gave to the new one. But yes a flag should had been raised about them, its more common now to look out for fakes but back then and especially with a mother and her "sick" kid there wasn't really steps put into places to look out for signs of this. Now they do like for example how now cops are trained to look for signs of a abusive boy or girl friend when in the past they just took their word for it and left it alone. But even then or now doctors look for cases of Munchausen syndrome but its hard to think the child is being made sick by the parent who seems to care so much for them. All in all yes this case went on far too long and should've been caught but with our medical system its hard to. And i have a feeling doctors based on one or couple visits won't want to put themselves out there in fear of ruining their name like if they were wrong.
jude o in this case the kid is not ok, the mom made her physically sick with medications and medical procedures that didn't need to be done and so those may have long term effects on her. And growing up that way in that environment with this mother would have mental effects on her as well like having trouble forming and retaining relationships and actually trusting people since her own mother abused her. Thats what it is, she was abused most of her life with not much of a real childhood and good role models
People like this will "doctor shop" and visit various doctors until they find one that is naive/stupid enough to swallow their bullshit. Once they get the diagnosis they want from some stupid quack doctor, they can use that diagnosis to con other doctors into giving them the treatments/drugs that they want.
Tracie Henderson Probably listened to the Mom’s by-the-textbook symptoms, past medical reports (fake), and I wouldn’t be surprised if mom used some of that donation money to bribe a doctor or two.
Even tho she really wasent sick I’m glad she got those trips because it probably some what got her out of the hell she was living in

Yeah, although she wasn't medically retarded or had the mental captivity of a child like her mom claimed, she was still held back from her full potential and mentally messed up from her childhood environment. I mean to grow up with that controlling and manipulative mother effecting her both mentally and physically (and giving her medications to further the daughter being sick) and messing with like her hair and teeth, physical appearance is very important to young girls especially. Its like she was a prisoner of her own mother for the mother's own twisted needs and attention she wanted. She has to be mentally ill (not saying that having mental issues is bad thing but no way did she grow up to be a healthy sound minded person in that environment!) And childhood highly effects who you are as a person in life! For example if you were physically or sexually or etc abused as a child, you grow up wayyyyy differently then those of a normal and healthy childhood with severe problems and problems forming and having relationships, even more on the relationships part because idk how i would trust people if my own mother whose suppose to guide you and help you bloom to your fullest had been doing this terrible stuff to her all her life. She should've been put in a mental hospital getting the help she badly needs instead of prison for so many years.
