    I want to make an update: since I commented on this this video for the first time, I’ve done the excercise everyday, i’ve moved from feeling dizzy 95% of every day to probably 0-10% of dizzy symptoms for the last 12 days or so. I really feel I’ve gained back my life when comparing it back when thought there was nothing to be done, though I don’t want to shout victory yet (eventhough i’ve never felt like this good for a year and a half so far). Just came here to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, you have provoked tears of joy in someone who thought his life was only going to go downhill, of someone who thought his dreams wouldn’t be achievable anymore, of someone who thought he would live in sololitude for the rest of its life. What you have done, is probably more than any doctor or specialist has done for me in my life.
    Even though it might sound funny, at the end of the process, when i open my eyes and see you I say to myself “god i fucking love this woman!” : )
    I’ll keep doing this, till I am sure i overcame it completely, though it has already solved most part of it.
    Thank you,
    Diego

As you now know, it really is possible that you can overcome the dizziness you just have to trust your body and feel your way through the process. I just watched this episode of 'Balance Your Life Now'.
    In her authentic and soothing way, Emma was guiding me through the exercise in which I was to select an emotion. I could not pinpoint one specific one that was causing my vestibular symptoms at that moment, which she advised as being perfectly okay.
    Then, she began to talk about how my emotions and my PPPD are 'safe'. No one has EVER told me I was 'safe', or that my current situation was 'safe', or, that I, myself, would be 'safe', regardless of the situation at that time, and, that my PPPD and emotions are 'safe'. Why not? How could this integral key be missed by everyone, especially ME?
    I NEVER expected that the word 'safe' would trigger such a complete watershed of pent up tears! I lay here, on the sofa, relaxed and completely in the moment with my feelings, something that we NEED to focus on...getting to know our innermost core beings. I just let the tears roll freely down my cheeks and my neck. I did not move, rather, I stayed in the moment and allowed this feeling to wash over me. That is how it's done. Just feel it, really feel it, and let it go.....
    I realized, at that moment, that I have not felt safe for a very, very long time. I have felt alone in much of my suffering over the years, and, suffice to say that there has been plenty, far above and beyond this pinnacle of pain that I now endure, my vestibular issues.
    I have been repeatedly in deep inner turmoil, afraid and anxious, but never 'safe'. I have been masking my true feelings, carrying on and tamping down my emotions. Many people, predominantly women, do, because society tells us to 'get over it', or to 'get up and dust off', that 'someone always has it worse', or, we even tell ourselves, 'life goes on'...you know the drill. All that heavy and unresolved anguish is left to fester inside if we lack the tools to release it!
    Basically, we may suffer traumas and injuries, setbacks and difficulties...and then we (me) do not properly address them and face the mental damage left in the wake. I have had counseling over the years, but I now see that has only ever scratched the surface. We have never delved into letting out my pent up anger/fear/sadness. Now is the time I need to dig deep. I need to rip the proverbial Band-Aid off of those emotions so they can finally breathe! Long overdue!! ***Note to self: get special pillow to scream into!***
    Having experienced this now, it reinforces my belief that my PPPD has been, in part, brought on, by my own negligence in allowing my emotions to be expressed. I am a 'good girl' who is an ardent people pleaser. I don't often stand up to those who seem stronger, and walk over me. I was never shown how, from a very young age. I tend to recoil and brood. I hate conflict.
    No one's fault, but I can break that cycle now. Why not? At the ripe old age of 59? 🙂 Better late than suffer, I say!
    I have every intention of continuing on with this exercise of truly feeling my emotions in the moment. It was AWESOME! In the past, I had used to do EFT (tapping), and that was uber effective. This was a lot simpler...no physical tapping, just tapping into my own heart with my mind!
    Food for thought! It cost nothing but I gained a LOT!
    Thank you Emma for this wonderful, easy-to-understand series. You are helping people see clearly what has been clouded. I have shared your work on Facebook with many fellow sufferers of vestibular disturbances on related pages.

      Hi Leslie, thanks so much for your comment. It sounds like you're right on track and figuring this out for yourself, well done! Finding safety is a huge part of healing from PPPD because symptoms are so constant that if we are not ok with them then we are constantly on edge and feeling unsafe for a lot of the time! Perception of symptoms is key and of course responding to our needs with kindness and acceptance ❤

    Thank you so much... As someone diagnosed with vestibular migraine and PPPD who has felt constant dizziness without any clear reason for more than a year, I will begin doing this. The "tell yourself it's all safe" or "let those emotions flow, they are fine" I like to translate them into "the dizziness sensation is fine, not bad" and somehow clicks with me which eases that sense of dizziness in my head.

Make decisions that feel right for you. Take it slow. Try sitting on a park bench outside, watch the world go by and take in your surroundings, try to find your steadiness sat down at first then you can always build it up to a slow walk and eventually more stimulating environments. Hi, thank you for your content-- my PT and I have decided what I have is a combination of PPPD and motion sensitivity. Sometimes my symptoms are NQR/non spinning dizziness/head floating/disassociation, and other times it's feeling crappy (like nausea), and it's always triggered by specific positions.
    We're doing exercises that address these triggers VERY gradually and slowly, but it can be so hard, especially as an HSP, nausea is one thing I CANNOT handle. Neuroplasticity experts always say to focus on how you WANT to feel, and what is your body trying to tell you? Well, the answer is, my body is screaming at me to get out of that position and return to safety/normal!!! My body is telling me those positions aren't safe for me anymore. Is this valid? Do you have any special suggestions?

    • @kredit787
      @kredit787 Před 3 lety +2

      Sounds similar, on a boat like feeling more or less all the time, but comes and goes depending on certain positions,stress and anxiety which may aggravate dizziness.Trying to find people with similar issues and see what they do that helps.

    • @balanceyourlifenow1651
      @balanceyourlifenow1651  Před 2 lety +3

      In my opinion what you need to work on is retraining your brain to stop running from what you're perceiving to be unsafe (dizziness). Work on your mental/ emotional health and kearn to trust your body. Dizziness is safe (providing you've had medical clearance), your subconscious is telling you to run because of the practiced fear and unease you've experienced involuntarily. Once you can feel safe inside your body when feeling dizzy you can switch off the danger signals which in turn will make you feel less dizzy. Keep up the physical exercises with your therapist too, but keep it slow and steady and take at your own pace, as it seems you're already doing 😊

      Hi Angela! Yes crying is good!! 🥲 let it all out, you are obviously holding onto a lot of trapped emotions. These trapped emotions can put our body out of balance as we hold onto trauma. I would highly recommend that you keep practicing this video regularly. In time you will see the benefit. Let the emotion flow through you, and allow the dizziness or any other sensations to just be a part of you while you do it. The dizziness will pass as you have already noticed. This practice if you are consistent with it will give you some promising results and recovery 🥰
