Seems rare to see a brotha as a seal. Way to be an example to the youth ✊🏾
We’re out there. Plenty of operators in all branches.
They're out there
Black operators exist...no different than black pilots...now you may not see a airline commercial with one...America hasn't come that far....
@@askdeefaircommonsense1014 its just statistics. Were less than 13% of the population. I dont expect to see an above average amount.
@@digiblak997 Thank you for pointing that out. Seems people don't seem to understand that, regarding the ratio of minorities to other races.
That is the most humble, placid, kind and level trained killer I've ever seen. Mesmerising storyteller
A true elite warrior that has come full circle as a human being…. I have no doubt he would give you his shirt and shoes if you just asked him….
One of your best interviews. Mark seems like a real silent warrior.
You can tell this guy has a switch that he can turn on when necessary
My husband was force recon way way back in the day. You described that exactly. My husband has that as well.
I like this guy! Seems super nice, smart and yet a warrior. I am glad we have people like him in the seals.
me too
At a time when my confidence in my government's ability to do the right thing is at zero, this guy reminds me that there are great men in service to us as a nation. 'Thank you for your service' seems grossly inadequate.
Brother Definitely a Seal got that trade mark bald spot like my Teacher who was a Seal great guy's!
I see the world in 3D, but I get information in 2D. I need to ask questions until I get it in a way I learn. Brilliant.
🫡 as an Army veteran there are only a couple of things that kept me from going Special Forces: swimming, swimming, swimming, and swimming 😂😂😂 It’s great to see an American of African descent as a Seal.
Crushed it, as always, Ryan. Thanks for sharing Mr. Greene's conversation...he just grips the listener from the beginning.
AMAZING SEAL WITH A GREAT OUTLOOK IN LIFE.SMILING ALL THE TIME AND BEING HONEST ABOUT HIS DEPLOYMENT AND HIS STORIES HE HAD.ENJOYED THIS 100% RYAN.WHAT A GREAT GUEST.THANK Y'ALL BOTH FOR YOUR SERVICE
Ryan, thank you for making my weekly Saturday drive to the store AWESOME! For at least the last 5 weeks I’ve hopped into the car and boom! Your newest Combat Stories episode is popping up there at the top of my CZcams list! Thank you for constantly providing hours of entertainment each week for my family! -Cameron
A Calm, relaxed, super chilled sniper is truly dangerous! Thank you for your service🥰🥰
That book better be available on audible and it better be read by the author
I first saw him on Cleared Hot, and i liked him then. Now i really admire this gentleman. Thank you Ryan and Mr Greene for an amazing conversation.
Love this story, my grandfather (Navy combat vet Korea/Vietnam) was the same way. He gave me one piece of advice the day before I shipped out for Ft. Knox "don't be the fastest and don't be the slowest".
Wow this was one of the best interviews I've ever watched on CZcams... Listening to this humble and accoomplished hero really gave me some extra motivation. Many thanks for posting.
This gentleman is an inspiration to those of us who want to do spec ops. I wasn't in the Navy long enough to do it, got medically discharged through boot
What a man !! I hope he gets to me his lost brothers son. That would be so powerful for them both. Thanks so much to all involved with this podcast. The learning from these stories are massive. I'm watching from London and enjoying every minute !! 👏🏽✨️
This is a great idea. Let’s work together to find his lost brother’s family and put them in touch. Bump this please Mr. Fugit. They have to be out there somewhere and there’s tons of fans of the podcast who are good at “finding things” secret squirrel shit haha. Thank you Sir! 🫡🇺🇸
I love this man!!!
I thank all the soldiers for their service.
Thank you for this! Meant a lot being able to listen in on this wonderful conversation. Keep up the great work!
Speaking of men with colors for last names, I'd love to see you do your style of interview with Tyler Grey.
Mark Greene's seems like a genuinely quality human being & I can see he was one of those JO's a Chief could constructively interface with & guide their Troops to high-achievemt.
Super awesome man! And don't forget football runs in his family - Mean Joe Green - Steelers!!
I remember my brother was going to ECU for his undergrad. This would be in 65.Our parents got his grades and he was failing.
Dad asked him if he was working on his barroom tan or an education.
He told him if he was failing he would be paying for his own education. Long story short, graduated and got his masters in education there also.
Our Father didn't "play". .
His command did him wrong having him drive all that time with his late friend's wife, that was low and classless. I hope they don't do that to future sailors. Great story, good video, thanks for sharing!
Pleasant interview, but Not OneHard Ball Questiond about His Experience as a black man in the seal community.
There are a little over 2500 hundred “Active SEALS at any given time, but there only been about 250 black Seals since the inception of the program; “Why” ???
And what was that “Honestly” like, through every stage of his career (and even down range) ???
250? Idk about that number.
I do agree with your take on the question. Yet you can't expect a white interviewer to ask that type of question.
Those who are of color don’t show up.
That’s the answer, straight and simple.
SPECWAR PREP, showed this to be true for me…
I saw the colors of those who were there…
Mainly white, and then maybe I’d say Hispanic or others, then black.
They welcome all..
Navy retired guy here…non SEAL
Probably because in that enviornemnt, whether its BUDs And seals, Ranger school and rangers, SFAS and the Q course for Green Berets, and the OTC for Delta, only the best make it to the teams and petty thinking about anything unrelated to being effective in combat shows up as mental weaknes in other areas. You cant fake it and get my with intellectaul and emotional immaturity. So the interviewer and the interview arent thinking about race, not when they were on active or now. Combat is the great equalizer and if you had petty racist beliefs, or even had to the time to have racist believes, it quickly dissapated when the shit hit the fan. Also, when we would go thorugh quarterly swim twesting so we could classify everyone as basic, intermediate, and advanced. We did this quarterly so everyone knew their place in line if having to cross a water obstace when on patrol and where to put everyone (weakest in the middle, strongest on the ends). I remember we had a lot of brothers that had never been in a pool, the ocean, the rivers, they grew up in cities and were never exposed to a lot of the things growing up others were, hunting, fishing, mouintain climbing, etc and many would drop like rocks in the pool with a low body fat % and little or no experience. They used to tell me they were afraid of being in the water. You see more african american rangers and green berets than seals, and I would probably look at the % of african americans and as % of the total force, or combat arms, see how many try-out for these units, and how that % compares to the total force. Its all voluntary and if you want to go, you can go, no one is holding you back. On the other hand, you can get a green to gold scholarship after meeting certaing criteria, and as an enlisted you get to pick a college and go through ROTC and come back as an officer, costs covered by the military. I did this program and the only schools i could select from were historically black colleges. So to answer your question, it didnt come up because its not relevant in this environemnt, everyone is mature enough to have already risen above that limited thinking. Your are judged by knowing your job, and being lethal, dependable, and tactially and technically proficient, if you are not, you will catch shit and it will have noting to do with your race, and if you were petty enough to blame it on race, it was just an excuse.
@@burrionkemp4031
If Black servicemen have experienced racism in regular units, historically and literally to this very day. Then we know they've experienced it in Special operation units.
You can't speak to their experience, as theirs is going to be much different from yours.
Typed all that to say nothing.@@burrionkemp4031
Hey Ryan. I was one of your fellow crew chiefs in Bravo company. I was driving this morning and turned on CZcams to find a veteran interview that I can listen to on my way into work. I started hearing this guy talk and I was like that guy sounds familiar. I look down for a quick second and noticed it was you. My former company commander. Just thought it was awesome and I had to share. I hope all is well. -Kevin Rivers.
Love this Ryan! Another great leaders story!
What a great leader and success story. Thanks for this motivating interview.
Man.... The moment Mark is describing getting set up in the hide.. hes scratching at fleas.. and mites. He was there for 20 seconds.
Cool interview!
Holy shit!!! I’m only in my early 30s but my grandfather told me the same thing “when we start something,we finish it! There is no quit boy”!!! I could hear my grandfather saying it. The only real difference is my grandfather was a hockey player. Great listen guys, as usual!
You’d NEVER know looking at him the type of things he’s experienced, battles he’s fought, or losses he’s faced. Still with a warm smile and kindness in his eyes he recalls parts of his youth and I’m watching this ( only a few min in, admittedly ) like … this is a man of profound depth and character, someone who really understands the world and how it and the people who occupy it work. It’s fascinating to me, these type of people, and I can’t wait to watch this in its entirety and hear the stories and gems he’ll give. Thank you both for your service 🙏🏾
I love Combat Story! It's my favorite above even the Mike (Ritland) Drop podcast and the Shawn Ryan Show.
Thanks for another GREAT interview!!
Mark is so deadly yet so adorable 😅 He's very compelling I just started listening and totally hooked. Will find his book.
An another amazing story!!, Hats off to you both and your families!!
I have a high level of respect for all our Special Operators! Great interview and may God bless our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen!
I Loved this interview. so much, I subscribed. Much respect to all the Operators out there and may God bless our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines!
Damn man I can feel his pain describing laying on the gun. Really sharp dude and im sure a great teammate and someone you want with you in the shit
🙌🏾My soul-twin👊🏾
I wonder if he was the SEAL that was in an early Afghan video that got a 900Mish kill.
Amazing man. Great interview.
Thank you for sharing! Stay safe and keep the episodes coming!
Jeez that drive with his buddies family is unimaginable. Great interview like always! Definitely going to check out the book!
Great job Ryan, you had a great guest on. Loved it
NKDA .. does that patch on your uniform mean No Known Drug Allergies?
Very interesting pod cast. Really enjoyed it. 👍thanks
Amen!!! Brother!!! Love to see more brothers that are seals!!!
Being in the Marines was the best job I ever had! The only regret was I didn’t do 20 years. I’m 64 years old and I still regret it to this day. But one quote that I heard that sticks with me is that once a Marine always a Marine, we just change uniforms. SEMPER FI!
Great guy
Great man.
Let’s get his book on audio asap. Reading for extended periods not so fun after mult tbis. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Thank you Sir. 🫡🇺🇸
Great interview. Mark thanks for your transparency and sharing your journey. Can’t wait to read your book!
Your forgiven, denial takes time! She’ll get over it and forgive you, but you understand, the life expectancy in war is not without the chance of not coming back. Thanks Mr.Green for your story, service and character! You are down to earth!
Great story! You are my Homey. We are from the same place. Dayton, Ohio. I thank you and I appreciate your service! I'm a navy veteran as well. Continued success!
So much love and respect for all of my people from Ohio
Continued success Brother! Keep grinding 💪🏾 💯! Stay blessed!!!
Great listening 👍
Amazing man. Climbed up the ladder of success. So what if he had to 0ro e he was worthy like I had to.
at 20:29 I am reminded of the Army instructors yelling "If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying".......AT THAT MOMENT, I got it!
Love this one. Watching from NE Ohio 🤟 Cool dude
MY FIRST TIME CHECKING OUT COMBAT STORY, NOW I'M FAN AND CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB EXCEPTIONALLY WELL DONE GENTLEMEN 💯
Great interview
Love this guy and his story!!
Great interview!
Awesome brotha 🤜🏾🤛🏾💪🏾 love it
My Grandpa and Grandma's home always was smelling good and the stash of cookies was a must at the house! Aren't are grand mama's just a like!!! Jk Brother great life story! Thank You For Your Service!! The both of you!!
Hard to believe Mark's parents weren't aware he wasn't at college anymore. Of course they knew. They probably just didn't want to humiliate him over it since they weren't paying tuition. No way in hell they didn't know or at least suspect he was no longer taking classes.
Yet again another fantastic interview!!!!!
Thank You
This guy is great
Ive got this dudes Pocket Seals Card, # 52. Hes posing with the team all buffed out. Its the All Stars too (legends) with the family and unit history on back. The stats are legit and it is his real hometown this year. Im looking to trade for the #5 gold series card in The Presidents Deck or Presidents Men as its named today.
Got to start swimming young or practice a lot... Enough to know a rip tide and swim out of it is a big confidence builder.
Why not believe us blacks can't be a seal, h LL we are an unique people that are extremely athletic. Hell just look at sports and put a gun in our hand with A1 training and were the most deadly human beings.
If I met this guy on the street, I would think he was teacher of some sort, not a Navy SEAL sniper.
I get that a lot. Looking like “Everyman” is my deadliest weapon.
My gear would have been at the bottom of the ocean the moment my feet hit the water...😅😅😅
💪🏾💪🏾🎧
The first thing I thought was Great White. I would have lost my sh#t. L-O-S-T it. !!!
Race only matters when you have the luxury of noticing it. Lazy living makes lazy people, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and every thing else. Facts.
The Spotify version has several problems. Sound, etc
Your forgiven, denial takes time! She’ll get over it and forgive you, but you understand, the life expectancy in war is not without the chance of not coming back.
Goggins told me he was the only black seal.
Goggins and I were at SEAL Team 5 together back in the day
Run for congress or senator. well qualified sir.
Chris Pratt 😂
Shave it bro. Do yourself a favor.
NOT YE TOO 😭😭😭 EVERYBODY BBL DRIZZY *SS
Lord what des folks done did to this brother why we always got to be none threatening to get on a camera bet if he was very commanding two things he some how would've K.I.A or no coverage at all..
Sometimes you have to be able play the game within the game. He’s not non threatening. He’s articulate and well spoken. But we all know this man is a killer and leader of SEALS.
Read "The Spook Who Sat By the Door"
THIS DUDE IS ALRIGHT.LOVE HIS ATTITUDE.
Love this Ryan! Another great leaders story!
