I deployed right after this event, we relieved USS CHAFEE. Never fully knew why when we arrived to the region we trained for this EXACT Naval gunfire support mission (it was all theoretical as far as we knew). We made a stop in Mombasa, brought aboard an operator, rock drilled it, then went back underway to train it over comms. Now I know why. This hasty plan you drew up and executed with CHAFEE became TTP. And let me tell you, we were fucking stoked and ready too. Thanks for sharing.

Great video on how things really go down. The type of clandestine type work these operators do is unreal. Im so grateful that soldiers like this are out there fighting the good fight. My Mums Dad my Grandfather. Was a Warrant Officier in the Royal Engineers in WW1. John Edington O.B E, M.B.E was my Grandfathers name. In WW2 he worked for MI6. I never had the privaledge of meeting my Grandfather. I know though that we owe so much to the brave Men and Women of the armed forces. For keeping us safe. 💪🙏🏻✨

This is a great story, I got into similar trouble as a young Lcpl while in the Marine Corps. At the time the USMC was way over staffed so me and a LOT of other young Marines were bounced with OTH. Wish to this day that I wouldn't have been made to feel like I could never overcome that mistake. It lead to a lot of years of self hate before I slowly started to forgive myself and realize that I was sacrificed on the altar of political b.s. They trained us in a culture of work hard play hard and then gave us the death sentence for any minor mistake. I wasn't drunk, I had beer on my breath. They didn't have a breathalyzer, they gave me a lie detector test and said that since I failed it, (never said why I failed) I was legally drunk. I'd been in for 3.5 years and wasn't even 21 but in the USMC you could back then, drink on base if 18 or older as an enlisted Marine. Anyway, I'm still proud of being a Marine, Semper Fi to all of my brothers and sisters no matter your branch of service.

I'm so glad I was LUCKY enough to join afsoc/jsoc/socom to become a tacp at 19 years old. I had a top secret clearance, before i was even sent to basic and bc of the civil air patrol as a kid i got the highesbt award u can get which is called the billy mitchell award and was able to go to basic as an E3 . 1 rank lower than my drill instructor 😂..although he was the youngest of them all on the whole base at Lackland afb san Antonio tx ,And I was always jealous of the attention that all the other special forces got. I'm glad to see that afsoc and tacp/ combat controllers, Are finally getting the attention they deserve. A ROMAD IS THE BADDEST WARRIOR ON THE PLANET. 1ST PERSON TO WIN 2 EDALS OF HONOR IS A TACP.

I had a similar Flag Officer debriefs back in the '90's when I worked Non-Disclosed Programs. I have always appreciated the candor of Flag Officers towards the men doing the dirty work. I think its because they have made it to their Flag position and aren't so concerned about their careers as the O-6's are and care more for the people they are tasked to lead and the efforts that those personnel have put forth into the mission. Granted there are still muppets who only care for themselves but usually its not the case.
