    Most fake pop have boxes that are not as heavy. Ive started googling pops before I buy. Find photos of others and look over the box. Often the words are not the same size or bad printing.

    It might be legit, funkos app has a tendency to not be accurate with pop variations, I got a basic Pennywise with a boat pop from my local retail store 4 years ago and whenever I scan it shows up as a chase version, same as my bender pop it shows up as the convention one, I wouldn’t go of the app itself I’d go more so of the seller and the actual pop and reference videos on CZcams

    Hi there, paint on the plastic happens to funkos. Hot topic mostly always put a barcode sticker over the actual barcode so if it has that sticker and doesn’t scan it’s because it’s a hot topic code and won’t show up

    Never buy a hot topic exclusive that doesn't have the hot topic store sticker over the funko bar code....

      Well that's you!! There are some pre release pops hot topic sells and the only way to know that someone hasnt done a sticker swap on a common is by the hot topic sticker on the bottom. You buy what you want and I'll be sure to buy the real thing....

    Is there a sticker barcode Over the funko ball code. Sometimes Retail stores will put their barcode sticker over the Box barcode. I had to gently remove that sticker a couple times when I was entering my pops into the app. After I removed that sticker the barcode entered the pop in for me.

    • @greggschneider3053
      @greggschneider3053 Před rokem +1

      Hot Topic always adds their on sticker/barcode, the Funko App does not read them.

    Sorry this happened. You can tell with the cut out (white border) around the picture of the figure on the front is too thick compared to original. Don't rely on the app scan, some fakes are scannable and show up on the app.

    Generally they’re are pretty easy to spot
    like this one you immediately see how the eyes are off
    But still there are some times when a fake looks really close to the original
    but that’s kinda rare especially if it’s a new mold
    But when it’s a recolored limited pop
    exemple the blackligth Spiderman since it’s was a mold that was used many time before the faker can easily fake those

      The colors are a little off on the fake spiderman black light. But yeah the counterfeit market is huge! They are everywhere, there are online stores that exclusively sell counterfeit pops only.

    Because it came from China? I used to buy legit Funkos from legit wholesalers, and all Funkos were made in China, and Vietnam. ALL toy brands have problems with knockoffs. Especially Disney.

    • @madmike8365
      @madmike8365 Před rokem

      Some of the counterfeiters on ebay list their pops as "china version" or something similar to that to let you know that it is not a legit pop. eBay does nothing about it but at least some of them actually tell you upfront that it's a fake. They are usually all priced the same no matter what pop it is.
