    UPDATE - You will need a previous version of XTU to continue using the batch file - www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/comments/bbxgoz/beware_of_the_new_xtu_update/
    Four Easy Steps to increase performance on your Win 2. (Don't forget to join our GPD Discord)
    1.) Set all power profiles to Max Performance
    1a.) Powercfg.cpl / Intel GPU management / in the Battery Icon set Slider to Max Performance
    2.) Download Intel XTU
    3.) Download Ciphray's Batch utility (In the description field)
    4.) ONLY IF YOUR SYSTEM IS OVERRIDING YOUR TDP! You can go into your bios and disable DPTF

    Just a PSA: While setting a higher Watt TDP can give you better performance out of many games, instead of it being your first option, you should always look up tweaking guides for the game you are wanting to run. Often times there are settings either within the game itself or in an .ini file, or sometimes as a third-party mod that can drastically improve performance without having to mess with TDP at all.

    Important bug I found: It seems when you use Windows in European Language, you have to go into the bat file and replace every dot "." with comma ",". if you don't then instead of 8.25W u will get a profile of 825W saved.

    I have two doubts:
    1. Is it be possible to modify the .bat so that there is a 4 watt configuration, for the games that need less, thus maximizing the use of the battery?
    2. On the Intel Tuning Utility App I see that changes are made correctly, but the undervolt is still at 0, is that normal? When I did it manually I saw that it changed, but not with the .bat.

      What on earth are you on about? Switch barely has any current gen content and when it does it's a downgraded port, cherck Digital Foundry's analysis of Switch ports. We're talking sub netbook resolution and low res textures, compared to PC and console versions they look awful..
      It's a nice enough handheld but is no powerhouse hence why it has the worst ports which are severely downgraded. I think you need to do a bit more reading on the subject.

    • @christianr.5868
      @christianr.5868 Před 6 lety

      MechaTerryNutkins ignore him, but watching this channel, the win 2 doesn’t fair any better. Dark souls 3 unplayable, nier unplayable, Assassin’s creed origins unplayable, Hell even nino kuni can’t hold a solid 30 fps. Switch ports of triple a games don’t look as great as the other consoles, but they’re mostly stable and look decent in handheld. I own DOOM on it. I’m thinking about getting a gpd win for last gen games, but even then. I think I’ll wait for something more powerful for the price they’re asking

    • @MegaTerryNutkins
      @MegaTerryNutkins Před 6 lety +8

      A lot of the games that have been ported to Switch run similarly on the Win 2, Doom can get a relatively stable 40+ fps for example whereas on Switch it dips way down. Obviously neither are going to run the more system intensive games as the hardware just isn't there, Switch isn't exactly running DS3 or Neir either..... Panic Button have done a great job porting to the Switch but the concessions are clear and choice is limited. I'll take being able to play the vast library of PC games from the last two decades over rehashed limited ports which are drip fed at $60 a time.
      It's unlikely there's going to be a more powerful option, especially if you don't like the price of the Win 2. SmachZ is pretty much a scam and no more portable than a laptop.

    • @MegaTerryNutkins
      @MegaTerryNutkins Před 6 lety +3

      Jeeses99 No need for name calling, be an adult please. Seriously do some reading on the subject and watch Digital Foundry's videos, they do full analysis of the limited Switch library compared to the proper versions. The intro cutscene to Doom is an obvious comparison, massive downgrade to get it to run on the Tegra hardware.

    The goal of the batchfile was a bit unclear for me.
    I assumed:
    .........................
    @02:03 , in XTU you set the undervolt for "All Controls" and "Graphics" and test it (Stress Test?)
    This to make sure the undervolt is stable in dirx 11,12 ,....
    After you have an undervolt which works for yourself (after testing):
    @04:49, download the batchfile modify the undervolt to your setting and use this batch file based on the game you are going to play (or what you are going to do), I assume this batchfile acts like profiles for XTU?
    .........................
    Is the above assumption correct? And if so, what do you select in the TPD menu if your are not going to game but going to: browse, music, movies,...etc... => number '1': "Default 07.00 - 15.00 ....." ?
    I understood the other parts but the goal of the batch-file was unclear for me. (unless I understood it correctly: use to quickly switch "profile" based on what you are going to do...)

    • @r0nr937
      @r0nr937 Před 6 lety

      Also the changing of the packaged TDP by the GPD itself if (@03:44) is unclear for me.
      Is this the TDP you set through the batch file and then when you notice games running slower you should check the packaged TDP in XTU. If after checking packaged TDP (@03:44) is lower then what you selected from the batch file (@06:32) then you change the setting in the bios (@08:29 , DPTF?)
      Or did I assume wrong?

    • @ThePhawx
      @ThePhawx  Před 6 lety

      You got it all correct. Just to clarify, even if you set your tdp to 10watts, it will only go UP TO that tdp if its required.

      It means it isn't able to find xtucli.exe
      Looking in my Client folder, I can't see that .exe either. There's an XtuUiLauncher.exe though. You could try that file instead. Guessing Intel changed it since 2018.

    Hey Phawx, I applied all the changes and ran the bat file, however, couldn't run Fifa 18 under those settings. It's not even playable. I put it on High-Performance mode and 10W. The fan is working its ass off and it's so loud. In the game, every movement takes 2-3 second to show on the screen. Would sombody please help?

      I have a solution you may or may not like .. it depend .. the is a tablet called cube mix plus . Using the same chipset as the gpd win 2 with the same specs and half the ram. 4 instead of 8 and it's passively cooled so there is no active fans or any thing so if you planed to get the most of it there is a heat sink mod you need to apply it basically a copper sheet you need to but b/w the cpu and the back alloy shell to help dispense the heat more and then you can apply the tpd mod .. and also there is a contactable controller called ipega 9083 witch will be the perfect match for the cube .. i'll send you all the details if you are interested .. oooh and i forget one thing .. all of this total wont cost you more than 350$ 😊 i'll sent you a video of my setup

    Normally I know how to tune a damn computer, but you have done it for me this time. Showed me how it's done and all that. Using your batch file stabilized my framerate in Burnout Paradise and gave BioShock more room to breathe. Processor ran a tad hotter at 74 degrees from 72, but still way within limits.
    Did either of your Win 2s come with one of the speakers' polarity reversed?

  • @Nickbaldeagle02

    • @ThePhawx
      @ThePhawx  Před 5 lety +1

      Make sure you are using the latest dev version of Dolphin. In Dolphin settings, make sure to use dx11 backend. Enable hybrid Uber shaders and compile before start. In hacks enable everything.
      On your win2 itself make sure your settings are set to Max.
      If you still aren't seeing perfect performance, you may need to disable dptf in bios. Which you can see in my previous bios guide
