      @antoniorsoftware Před 6 lety +73

      This was a confusing and terrible review. He gave wrong info about CPU and price, and also now some people think this can't even run GTA3 and that it is only a streaming device... He didn't show any PC game that it can play well of all the tens of thousands of games released from 1980s to present day. He could at least show Skyrim, Doom, Cuphead...

    • @antoniorsoftware
      @antoniorsoftware Před 6 lety +23

      +YesIWill... Why are you falsely trying to guess framerate based on specs when there are already two Overwatch GPD Win 2 videos on CZcams. It's around 30 FPS at 720p, but if you lower it a bit more you can get 40-60 FPS. People are perfectly fine playing new games at 600p or even below 500p on handhelds like the Switch.

    • @whiteknight5100
      @whiteknight5100 Před 6 lety +2

      AntonioR Software If a $650+ performance device such as GPD Win 2 can't run games at atleast 900P without serious visual downgrade or low fps, I would personally say its a piece of shit.

      @whiteknight5100 Před 6 lety +5

      Yes I will I am can’t wait You've got to be kidding me. GPD Win2 has better specs than the Switch, how is it not even capable of what the Switch can do?

    • @antoniorsoftware
      @antoniorsoftware Před 6 lety +24

      +White Knight 5 "$650+ performance device such as GPD Win 2"... performance device ? I can't believe what I'm reading, LOL. It's a small POCKET computer. You can't directly compare performance with Switch, because developers make special optimized games for the Switch which then they sell for a higher price, it is not running the same game. Also people completely ignore all the things you can do with this since it is a full PC. You can go so far and program your own Switch game on it if you wish, while Switch is limited to play a small number of games and that is it. You can't even browse the Internet and reply to this comment on the Switch.

    • @ClayWheeler
      @ClayWheeler Před 10 měsíci

      @@dastimRETRO LMAO no it's not.
      You probably should check Digital Foundry analysis for that.
      On paper it might be equal to a GTX 1080 but only for few minutes before THERMAL THROTTLING.
      Once it reach Thermal limit, it's barely equal to GTX 970.
      So that's like 5 minutes of gameplay in terms of Rasterization performance, and RTX 2050 equivalent Ray Tracing before it thermal throttle to GTX 970 level.
      Genshin Impact is still the go-to benchmark for iPhone and Android. The only phone that can match iPhone in Price-to-performance is ASUS ROG Phone series. Genshin Impact can run max settings & 120 FPS on iPhone before it thermal throttle and down to 60 FPS. ASUS ROG can do it all day without even throttling.
      Yes I know about Metal API which means the Phone itself can run Shadow of Tomb Raider with atrocious performance. I know some PC games that already ported to Metal API, and there are very very few of it.

      ilovefunnyamv2nd That Pocket PC you mean the one runs Windows Mobile OS that is used on early smartphones and PDA's? Or you mean the UMPC that used to run Vista with specialized GUI for UMPC?
      Also Windows 10 Mobile doesn't run any desktop apps on emulation at all even on Continuum (docked), it just run same UWP apps from Microsoft Store.
      W10M though just recently got discontinued and left under maintenance state. They are focusing on making full Windows 10 to be modular and that will be eventually used on smartphone-like device instead. When this happens, then there will be a converge of this GPD Win device and a smartphone in the future, which is exciting if that happens.

Throw in that it looks to handle almost any PC port from X360 era and back AND emulation up to GC/PS2 pretty well? I'm in.

And yes it's easy comparing Win 2 to laptops but it's inconvenient to take a bag with you every time you want to take a laptop somewhere. The two aren't comparable at all. Surface Pro also doesn't fit in your pocket and is stuck with passive cooling. With a proper cooling system, you'd be surprised how much you can do with hardware that's supposed to be low-end. The integrated GPU in the Win 2 easily beats a handheld Switch and almost beats a docked Switch at max performance, which is impressive for a handheld PC made by a small Chinese company.

    • @NovemberJoy
      @NovemberJoy Před 6 lety +6

      czcams.com/video/P2pUSKYBQk4/video.html
      Several facts about this:
      - The Win 2 in this video is being limited to 7 watts. If it were using higher wattage, it would perform a lot better.
      - According to Digital Foundry, the Switch version uses adaptive resolution scaling, which is active in both handheld mode and docked mode. Handheld mode can dip down to 768 x 432 resolution at times according to their video. In this video, as far as I'm aware, it's locked at 720p with no drops from that resolution.
      I own both an original Win and a Switch, and I think they're both great machines for what they are. Comparing them is a bit difficult, though, outside of performance, since they're both made for completely different markets.

    You have to consider the use-case for something like this. No one should look at this tiny device, then bitch and moan about how it can't play Crysis at FullHD 60 fps. Temper your expectations.
    Problem is, Linus regularly reviews "high-end" computer gear, as in "95% of America and/or Canada will never be able to afford it" high-end. So, when he says it fails as a gaming machine and is only really good for Steam in-home streaming, I have to wonder exactly how he perceives the experience it provides against the performance he's expecting.

      dont think so, prob streamed with steam, no way an integrated intel chip can do better than an APU

      The Phawx is a frequent user on the discord and users like him test out various games to test the capabilities. The Phawx, Deenox Don, and Mobimaniak3000 all got prototypes. It wasn't streamed and you can see all the FPS details in the video itself

      Real Funny Bears Honest truth my friend, steam sales etc. And you'll probably make your money back faster than a 3DS. Linus didn't give this device enough credit with its ability to play esports titles etc. On the go CSGO vs Mario which do you choose? As for age I'm however old you'd like to perceive me as. Because this is LinusTechTips that makes my age 12 I guess -(;

    For a computer guy, you don’t seem really aware of how to maximize performance on lower powered hardware and what this thing can actually do. I guess that’s what happens if you play with $4000,- GPU’s on a daily basis...-

      You can only maximize performance on the expense of visual quality. That was not the goal. It is overpriced for its intended purpose and adequately priced for a pocket PC with Surface Pro specs.
