You know what? If this is actually all we get... I'm OK with this. It's awesome seeing what I sort of assume, if this IS all we get, is the leftover footage from the first attempt years ago that they spruced up with completed effects. Then again, with how the lightsaber films have gotten flashier and less about the choreography, I'd love to see these guys come back and show 'em how it's done.
@@AssassinsRush1 They're supposed to be reminiscent of the lightsaber battles in the original trilogy, not the battles of the prequels. That's why they aren't as technical with the choreography.
This was already better than I was expecting. You can definitely see how well Ryan's effects and skills have gotten over the years. If he is making this, then this one will be fucking epic. Can someone explain what this is? I get that it's an April Fools joke, but you're telling me that Ryan and Nate scouted a location, trained for weeks, took time off to travel to the location, filmed a fight, and spent weeks editing it together complete with special effects, all for a 1 min "joke" vid? If they did all that, why wouldn't they film it for real?
I love how Ryan's effects improve each time and how the choreography gets tighter. It really appears as if they are really trying to beat the nurfherders out of each other!
I had to come back to the series to see what you boys have been up to after all this time and HOLY SHIT you are living the dream of every Star Wars kid from the 90s, congrats! I absolutely love the work you've done over the years its absolutely inspired me as a filmmaker but to know how far you've come now as a visual effects artist in actual star wars films I really feel brings it full circle and all the way. Ryan, I gotta say this: Seeing your videos when I was in high school affected my career choice (I'm now a machinist like you used to be, just so I could make lightsabers), and though we've never met, you've had a huge impact on my life. With RvD3 understandably out of the picture (horrible what happened to Mike, hope he's been doing well), RvN is the best thing we could look forward to. I don't think it's too late to finish this; assuming your finger is healed up, all you'd really need to do is match haircuts, and even if there's other concerns, there are two brilliant VFX artists at the helm of this thing. If it's a matter of money, I don't think it's outlandish to crowdfund it; it worked for RvD2, right? Even if you have to start over, people want to see this. And lightsaber fights have had a resurgence of popularity as of late, so the timing is right. As someone who has followed your work for well over a decade, it would mean a lot to me, and all of your fans, to pick up your lightsaber one last time and give us the fight that we've all been waiting for. Having been there pretty much "from the start" and learning my lightsaber effects from your tutorials in the time before youtube (I downloaded qt movies of your tuts, dammit!)... it's amazing to see what you are doing today compared to back then. Such a wild ride. The fan scene is so much more advanced, so much more sophisticated today than 15 years ago. Impressive. Most impressive.
I remember being like 10 or 11 watching you vs dorkman. Man that was my FAVORITE thing on CZcams. I had just seen episode 3 not long before and was just getting into Star Wars. Life was so simple then lol.

Joke's on you, Ryan. This is awesome. :D I especially liked how the lightsaber sounds were used in the music. I want to try that myself with other clips. (I guess that's basically Baby Driver.) I also keep rewatching it to understand how you did the lighting during the fight, in particular the contrast between light and dark places while keeping the characters clear. I guess the lightsabers help with the characters, but the background is interesting in itself. I assume you shot it with more light and then darkened parts of it in post?

I just discovered the possibilities of lightsaber fight in Virtual Reality (Blade&Sorcery), the only thing missing for a real lightsaber training program is the AI actually learning how to fight properly with a saber, and I wish someday a talent like you comes into this sector and makes this a reality for all Star Wars fans.

This entire lightsaber battles series with all these guys on CZcams from the RVB, RVD, & AVN videos will live on in our hearts. They really choreographed and studied different combat forms very well. Disney should’ve hired them to help with the lightsaber battle scenes in their trilogy. We need more Star Wars films that are as great as the first 2 trilogies from Lucas-films, along with these highly-skilled choreographers. I hope these guys are OK today. May they retire in peace.
