    I don't care much about this adapter. I'm here to enjoy the expected high quality production of Media Division. According to recent research, the best channel in the Milky Way.

      I agree with you. Some say that the quality of the glass is an issue here. More glass means slower lenses.

      @@mosswareproaudio6328 Haha, you seem to have responded to the wrong post. And yes more glass can potentially degrade the image, but sometimes it's intended to some degree, isn't it? Also even cheap adapters and filters are now on par with high end offerings which is great for us.

      I collect vintage lenses. I bought the SLR Magic 2x last winter. It just does not do much for the image. It is really a mess. I think it has to do with the quality of the glass. It was on sale NEW at B&H for $250, but even at that it was a loss. Other anamorphic lenses made by other companies seem to perform much better.

      @@mosswareproaudio6328 You can check on youtube the Blazar Nero 1.5x anamorphic adapter + Helios 442 lens. It's glorious! Also go see the Blazar Remus 1.5x lineup and the new Blazar Cato 2.0x for an amazing anamorphic feel that most budget anamorphics tend to miss. Planning to buy the whole set of Remus myself. Good thing it has a protective glass upfront to help with dust and splash from entering as the front elements seem to move in and out while focusing like many cine lenses.

    Simply LOVE the production value of your videos!
    Of course there's the technical info that's also INVALUABLE!
    And the slow shutter shots and general overall look of your carnival footage which I've seen elsewhere a million times is SO MANY LEVELS ABOVE!
    Thank for sharing.

    The colors at the carnival and the skin tones make me weep they’re so good! Excellent work! Now to go find some neon and a good model to shoot..

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Wechsler... the skin tones? Really?? I always found them somewhat odd... given the unnatural lighting of the carnival it is to be expected. Surely a subjective thing. Thanks a lot for your support!!!

      @@MediaDivision I’ll say, after watching all your footage that your skin tones are always spot on when taken in the context of the shot. That’s something I consistently struggle with- too warm, too cool, too red, etc. I always enjoy your uploads.

    What about the SLR Magic Anamorphot 2.0x-50mm ? Have looked at that?

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  Před 8 měsíci +1

      No, we just cannot look at all adapters, sorry... wie put together three "contenders" in the three categories of anamorphic solutions. Right now, I would rather look into the many ready made solutions that popped up since. Adapters are just so workable.

    • @jimmoss9584
      @jimmoss9584 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Noo...
      What I am saying is that a great wide agle lens looks much better than the SLR Magic Anamorphot 2.0x-50mm. I don't think it is all that popular which is why I found it for $350. The actual commercial anamorphics are interesting, just not these cheap one.

      This is just a excerpt from a much larger episode... that had kind of disappointing views as well. Anamorphic is a niche in a niche, and anamorphic adapters are a niche... and so on. Thank ks for your kindness

  • @WillBinks

    so if it covers a 50 in 3:2 would this cover a 35mm in 16:9 mode on fullframe?

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  Před 2 lety +2

      That strongly depends on the shooting conditions and the taking lens and where the entrance pupil in this lens is located. I have a 35mm f2.8 contax Zeiss at the SLR covers even FF 3:2 with very mild vignetting in the corners. If you film into lights you get a white vignette though.

  • @florianschlotzhauer6755

    Do you think you could help me out regarding the screwed on 62mm (?) on the back u used. I wasn't able to find it anywhere an my used adapter I got from Ebay seems to lack any kind of connection. Thank you very much :)

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  Před rokem +1

      Not quite sure what your problem?! The SLR takes 62mm on the back. get a step up ring with XXmm (whatever your taking lens has) to 62mm. There are tons of option on Amazon………… it can't be that simple?

    • @florianschlotzhauer6755

      @@MediaDivision First: Thanks for your fast response! :) I guess the problem ist that some part of my SLR Adapter is missing (I got it in used conditions on Ebay some time ago). Wehre the element with the silver screws are on your filter is nothing except the glass of the lens and a thread that doesn't seem to match any step up ring sizes. I haven't seen a solution like the one on your filter before so I thought you might. have added it yourself

    So in the winter of 2023 I found a NEW SLR Magic Anamorphot 2.0x-50mm on sale and bought it. It was $350 or so. I am not impressed with it. I even bought 3 diopters along with the SLR Magic diopter. Still I just don't think it is that impressive compared to a standard wide angle lens. Here in 2024 I am pretty tired of the look. It was interesting to try to get an exciting image from, but to me it was a loser. Maybe it is something about the glass used. I thougth I would report back.
    Comments?

      Never argue taste?! A 2x anamorphic doesn't look like a wide angle lens to me, but if you think so... sell it I guess.
