    No wonder players yell "it was shoulder to shoulder" because of commentary like yours.
    This is a foul. Not a play for the ball. He's hunting the player down, fouls, then needs to change direction towards the ball.

      “Getting bodied off the ball” or “getting knocked off the ball” is a common phrase in football and a fair play so long as it’s shoulder-to-shoulder, not dangerous, and the ball is nearby.

    • @1123Steveo
      @1123Steveo Pƙed 26 dny +3

      @@JayseabeeSTL there’s a difference between playing the player and playing the ball though. You can’t just clean out the player (with an arm extension by the way) and then turn 90 degrees to go get the ball. Everywhere else in the world that’s a foul and possibly a yellow at least.

    'Shoulder on shoulder' and claiming that it's part of the challenge for the ball, my dude Klaus is moving AWAY from the ball when he does that. If those shoulder charges are completely legal in your opinion, despite the fact that the offending player played the man entirely, I don't ever want to hear you approve of a soft foul being called on the pitch as being the correct call.

Watching it play out in New England's game was terrible. I think its just gonna lead to more players pretending they're fine when they aren't and getting injured. It also awards teams that are physical and try to injure other teams players.

    • @DrDisemb0wel
      @DrDisemb0wel Pƙed 27 dny +1

      @@SamualHadge I believe if a player is injured to the point of needing to leave the field, they have exceptions and won't be penalized. Unless it's the final rounds of a competition, it's in everyone's best interest to receive medical attention ASAP. Even in the final rounds, an injured player will perform worse than a healthy player, so I doubt any serious injuries will remain on the field. Even staying off of the field for two minutes likely won't impact the game, and you could argue that keeping the momentum of the game going would be more beneficial, since the team with the injured player usually has the ball.
      Could an injury be misdiagnosed as minor? Sure, but that's always a risk in sports. I don't think we'll have any issues with the new rule, other than bad calls by the ref. Those happen anyway so I wouldn't blame it on the rule

      Gauld was 45 degrees over when shoved from behind; that’s reckless and no accident. Then there is the clear contact on the back of the leg; nobody gets out of that by claiming accidental contact, or “his leg was already on the ground”. It might have been called as two yellows in less than a second but the end result would be the same. Both the Sounders and their fans could use more composure: consistently turning up the dirty play is not going to get them back in the playoff race, but using the skill that is there on the roster might.

    I have to disagree with you yet again Wiebe, because what a surprise you do not understand the laws of the game.
    Law 12 from IFAB in regards to Handling the Balls states:
    "It is an offence if a player:
    -deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball
    -touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised
    -scores in the opponents’ goal:
    directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper
    immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental"
    There are three parts to this law that we can look at. The first part is deliberately touches the ball. Well his arm is behind him as he is going down towards the grown and his arm is going towards the ground to brace himself so NO, he is not guilty of deliberately handling the ball. The third part is irrelevant as he is the defending player and no goal was scored as a result which leaves the send part only to look at.
    Was his arm in an unnatural position with the intent to make himself unnaturally bigger? Again no. His arm was coming down to brace himself for the impact as he was sliding into the challenge to block the attempted cross. Furthermore the ball is clearly deflected off of his left calf before it goes between his legs (which is the only reason it goes between his legs) and strikes his arms. So not only was this a case of BALL TO HAND this was a case of the ball being deflected off of his LEG first which altered the trajectory of the path of the ball leaving him with less than half of a second to react while he was falling towards the ground. This was NOT a handball by the letter of the law. This was a horrible call by the on-field ref (who had a fairly decent game aside from this call) and this absolutely should have been overturned by VAR. And if you had any clue about the laws of the game, and after sever years of hosting this show you have shown week after week that you literally have none, you would have known this as well.
