Not really, the press end is an ugly mess that looks like a horrible Italian 80s job. The other end looks great though, must admit. Like, spot on. That press zone though, jesus.

The St.Louis Soccer Football/Soccer League played from 1895 through 1942, and was for many years the only professional league in the U.S. St. Louis had a team in the previous top level pro league here in the U.S., the North American Soccer League (1968-1984), the St. Louis Stars. My first ever live football match was the Stars vs New York Cosmos with the legendary Pele in 1977. St. Louis City SC's home pitch, Citypark, holds 22,300 people. The team had 60,000 season ticket requests. Citypark is sold out for every home match this season. St. Louis knows and loves its football.

I've been watching them build the stadium and I'm so excited to get to go. I didn't get to go to this game because it was crazy expensive on secondary market. But I'll be going later. It's amazing! The whole atmosphere where it's set up looks awesome!

St Louis used to be the hotbed of soccer in the US. Heck, the 1950 World Cup team had 5 players from St. Louis. Of course the Stars and Steamers were well represented too. It’s nice to see the game back at a professional level.

As a St. Louisian, I am so freakin happy to have a soccer team. Also are jerseys are freaking dope. Hopefully I can go to a game or two this year! But the electricity of the crowd was insane. 2-0 baby!

@@Capnamerica84 we've really built up downtown right next to it. Is the aquarium right next to that? Is the blues stadium right down? The street is Bush stadium. There's loads of stuff to do. It's a great atmosphere. Completely different from 5 years ago

your youth development need at least 15 years to be as good as Serie A league, and 25 years to be as good as premier league

I like watcching Premier League soccer on TV here in St. Louis because of the enthusiam of the fans and and announcers as I am more of an American football fan than soccer. The new stadium seats 22,500 with 19,000 set up for season ticket holders of which they had requests for 63,000 season ticket holders. Many thanks to the owners of Enterprise Car Rental located here for building the great stadium as they will be rewarded for doing so. St. Louis has had a soccer presence here for a long time from some Italian immigration but really caught on with many years of Catholic Youth League soccer going back to the 1950s. I did not grow up Catholic and went to a Public school not a parochial school and we only would played soccer about 2 weeks a year during our gym class. Now St. Louis also has the largest Bosnian immigration in the country from people who came here after the Yugoslavian war and they also like soccer the best. I am happy though for the many soccer fans here and this is a big positive for St. Louis.

@@l5kywa1kermemes28 I grew up with baseballl, American football, and then became a big hockey fan. Now with my wife being Catholic, all three of my kids (1 boy / 2 girls) enjoyed playing soccer in the Catholic Youth Leagues. It's always fun watching your own kids play any sport so that is what got me in to soccer some. I have watched global tournaments some like Olympics and World Cup and there is something about the Premier League on TV I do like watching some. I actually more enjoyed watching indoor soccer with past STL teams more of a soccer cross with hockey. This time it looks like the soccer interest will stick in STL years later.

Austin FC fan here. Was at game last week and just watched this week 2 highlight reel. SLCSC has been very fortunate this far with opposing team giveaways.
Not withstanding, there are some real quality players on the SLCSC squad and the GM appears to be a good evaluator of talent. The team is big and physical…I was on the second row and it really popped out. Looks like alot of quality in key positions. It’s early but you might really have a nice squad. Congrats on 2-0 start…that’s amazing.

In my entire life, I have never seen a coach that has found a way to make his team take advantage of and score off of opposition back passes.
They have capitalized on failed back passes more than any team has ever before, and it’s only been two games!

It's not tactics, it's the usual ghastly MLS defending. This league has a long way to go, especially defensively.

No 22k is perfect we want sellouts every match ever. Glad they didn't do 3o. We want supply and demand to be hard to get a ticket. 22k feels like 40 k.. and you will not get an atmosphere like that year round year after year with 30 k. they absolutely made the correct decision in the capacity. in future they could expand it after years maybe
@@st3veee77 I agree with you. Much has changed since the 1970s when major league soccer was tred in St. Louis with the Stars and they played at Busch Stadium home of the Cardinals. All this fan enthusiasm so close to the field makes it more fun for all.

Sometimes to win you need a little luck and St. Louis had nearly every bit of that today. All they were missing was Charlotte making a goal line clearance. An own goal, a handball pen and a terrible backpass. The trio of a lucky win. Don't screw up around Klauss. He'll punish ya.

Great start but lots of work to be done to build a solid team. So exciting to have been there and to be a season ticket member. The vibe in the stadium was incredible and I met some of the most friendly and passionate fans ever. Something special is being built for sure.

I really want the MLS to succeed. I am a dual citizen of the UK and U.S., and grew up in England. I would love to see the game grow and get better here. The crowds are already awesome in the MLS - the dirty little secret of the Premier League is that, bar a few select clubs, the atmospheres are often pretty dire owing to the amount of corporate and tourist tickets, with diehards often priced out now. But the MLS has really wonderful crowds.
That all being said, those crowds deserve a better product on the field. I can't watch any MLS game or highlights without some absolutely horrendous defending on display. No positional sense, no shape, absolute schoolboy errors again and again. The product needs to improve a lot. I am not sure that will happen until the U.S. moves away from the pay-to-play model and open up the game better. The best U.S. players still have to go abroad (often Germany) to properly develop, and this should not be the case.
Bro ... we know. We're all here just happy how far we've come in just a few short years.

@@sdot5389 Last week and this week those guys barely had to move. Defenders completely switched off. You can work as hard as you want, its really quite a fluke that they've got three goals from an OG and two horrific back passes. That said, great looking crowd and stadium. Happy to see STL kicking the ball around.

As someone who vividly remembers watching D.C. United and the San Jose Clash play the first ever MLS match in 1996 it's so awesome to see an atmosphere like this today and see how much the league has grown. Love seeing new cities embrace their new clubs like this.
People who don't live in St. Louis may not know, but soccer runs very deep in this city. Well overdue for a team.
