      @@jacobroberts147 yes it is. 20k miles since I've installed mine. Just make sure you TIGHTEN your boots, and I mean TIGHTEN. I did the hair spray method as well

    I really want to focus ST and I'm glad that you have these videos online for me to look at it helps a lot when I know exactly what I'm doing the charge air temperature thing is very helpful especially when it comes to tuning the cars and knowing what you're doing

    I put an RS intercooler on my ST and while i can say it isn’t as efficient as this intercooler even on 100 degree days im barely over 100 charge temps so for those looking to get an intercooler on the cheap and are staying stock turbo rs intercooler is an option

    Intercoolers do not add power. They keep the stock power there during warm or hot conditions and moderately spirited runs.

      @@jaredj1160 Upgraded intercooler on stock tune allows you to continue to boost and does add power as the intake air temperature is one of the numbers the ECU uses to determine timing advances. Definitely should get a custom tune but replacing the stock FMIC should ALWAYS be the FIRST mod that any ST owner does.

    The only other downside is the car is tuned for hot dry conditions. What you need is a self tuning type of program.Vividracing has a self tuning programs

    I just got an st same color, 2017 46,800 miles is more modded than i thought 😂 i thought it was just modded intake ,exhaust and accesport, turns out it has hi flo catted down pipe, bov, cpe front mount, just bought a intake and symposer delete, and weighted shift knob once those arrive time to find a pro tune, thabks for the vids

    I love my CPe lightweight (yeah right..its still 900lbs lol) FMIC. It keeps temps at 20 above ambient when driving..works great!
    You really should look into a super simple instal/upgrade... redline tuning hood struts. Get rid of that silly hood prop. its $100 and makes a HUGE difference every time you want to open your hood and work under there. Plus you get rid of that silly prop all together. Im on a Stage 3 Cobb OTS tune (93 octane), and otherwise fully bolted. Curious where Im at with my power levels..but it def feels pretty good! Love your ST..its come a long way from a wing riser (not my style lol) and your 'first wash' ^_^

      dham99 you gotta get an etune! The OTS tunes are super mild. A stratified tune would cost like 100 bucks for a 93 tune and would be a crazy noticeable, especially for stage 3! They make safe plug and play tunes based on your mods

    Must have been on 0 or 1 smoothing for correction I think I saw. That adds 8-12 hp and tq, whereas 5 smoothing is the norm and only adds 2 hp & tq.

    This has to be the first video I have ever seen with some hard data (from the AP) showing instant results. I wonder why no one has ever done this before. The charge air temp doubled with the OEM intercooler. Ford should be embarrassed. I wonder if the blue fan position influenced the results. Hmmm

      knurri the fan is their to produce air like your drive down the road. I have cobb front mount with 2.5 inch charge pipes. Cobb acessport tune. I run 3 degree colder then ambient temp outside. Intercooler is a must for focus st.

      @@brianshaffer9347 just so you know it's actually impossible to go colder than ambient. It's literally against the laws of thermal dynamics. Unless the charge temps are being cooled by refrigerant like a interchiller which will take it below ambient. Food for thought!

      Does anyone actually think Depo makes better stuff than cpe? CPE is top-of-the-line ... Depo is Chinesium. It gets the job done but their stuff is cheap crap and when compared to quality brands like Garrett and cpe, it's easy to see.

    So I have the ford performance calibration and no AP or tune. Would I see similar results for more consistent pulls where the engine just keeps going because it doesn’t heat soak or would I need to tune it to continue giving power?

      Just get the upgraded intercooler and your charge air temps will never go above 10 degrees over ambiente and you will make all the power that your tune is supposed to make, if it has 250whp in stock intercooler will heat soak after one gear at full throttle maybe more than 15hp, with the bigger intercooler the power will be the same in every gear, from down low up to redline that equals to go alooot faster!

      no u won't I had the procal for my focus st upgraded 3.5 fmic /////mountune recirc valve/// intake ///and charge pipes on 91 I got 240whp and 340TQ tbh the pro cal sucks after 4k rpm I bought Ap I got tuned through edge im make 280whp 340Tq on 91 pump gas I don't have Dp and im not tuned on 30 yet tbh it feel a lot safer on ap and getting it tuned then the pro cal

    Goodspeed huh?? I went to them several times in the last 12 months, they specifically said they do not tuning or do Fords, ST's, etc. I also was looking for cold side charge pipe upgrade. They really lost me at their lack of knowledge in terms of assistance on where to take the ST for tuning. And I totally want to avoid COBB because they just seem to screw up tunes for anything not a Subie or Evo, or MS3. Is it ossible to get a device to monitor my systems?

      Edge auto sport tuned this car remote via e-tuning. The guys at goodspeed are good friends of mine so they let me use the dyno. The Cobb accessport is great, pair that with a tuner like Alan from edge and you will be happy and you don’t even have to leave your house to get these things 🏁

      @@oceanhome2023 DO NOT mess with the coils on these cars. A pointless mod that's known to cause problems. Stock coils are fine for pretty much all power levels on EcoBoost/ST engines.

      Yes. Colder intake air temperatures allows the computer to run increase timing and boost to make more power

      Yes it’s perfectly ok. Honestly it’s probably safer to do that but you won’t notice much different until you tune it. I’d rather do the intercooler first

      _DM means _Domestic Market. USDM is US Domestic Market. So it was made for the USA. Now that doesn’t just mean American brands, a car from Toyota made to US regulations is a USDM car. Just like how a mustang made to Japanese regulations would be a JDM car.

      I'm a new ST owner as well. From what I've seen and read even the stock tune can quickly overwhelm the stock intercooler especially in hot environments. You can see the difference between the stock and after market intercooler in the video, it's insane. Even if the stock tune can't make full use of the efficiency of the after market intercooler it will still be a benefit as it will take much longer to heat soak. If you have plans to go to an after market tune later installing a new intercooler now means you'll make more power when you do go to a new tune.

      I jack it up from the center very carefully on the pinch weld that's covered by the skirt. Then place both jack stands and then lower it.

    Nice video cam,,, have a Q,,, was the second dyno pull instantly after the 1st...or much later? I don't understand how the car was sucking hot air with the new cooler, and then instantly showed much cooler air....are you saying the ecu only took a few minutes if that, to adjust timing ect, and make more power?

      @@remissiveslave you have the cars mixed up, that's the RS you're thinking of. The ST doesn't have the head gasket issue.

      newest bear you want good tuner to do it, you will have to buy a cobb acessport . I’m tuned by mountune myself. But going to switch tune soon. For e 30 , I’m stage 2 and tuned.

      You don't need aftermarket charge pipes. That spray will help them hold on, so will hair spray. Get it together, dude

      They won’t blow off for 2 reasons, one - this intercooler is set back like the stock one is leaving not much wiggle room for the charge tubes to pop backward, 2 - he’s clearly clamping them tight.

      Why wouldn’t you upgrade them to bigger pipes.? I bought a cobb myself, it came with 2.5 pipes so I upgraded them. Just wondering why you guys haven’t?

      @@brianshaffer9347 not much difference on a stock turbo. If you're running an upgraded turbo then it's optimal. There's no harm in doing it though. More power to you
