What to Expect Driving from Fort Lauderdale to Key West? (Save $2k in flights)

- We love cheap affordable travel but KeyWest is expensive to fly into. Instead we fly to Miami or Fort Lauderdale and drive the beautiful US 1 and the 7 Mile Bridge through the Keys to get to Key West.
We bought 7 roundtrip tickets to Fort Lauderdale Florida on Frontier Airlines for $550 and rented a car for $150 instead of spending $2,500 to fly into Key West. To us it was worth saving the $1,800 and plus we got to experience the keys in its entirety.

This drive was amazing! The views make up for the 4 hour drive. If you ever do this drive again I recommend trying the square grouper restaurant in Cudjoe Key!

Thank you and excellent question. Khiz and Eesa grew up traveling and super well behaved. In this trip, you can constantly hear them in the background (we didn’t edit) and they were laughing/playing the whole ~5 hours in the car. Super proud of them!!! And thank you for watching and commenting :)
