It's really encouraging when you briefly mention that you lived in apartments for the majority of your marriage. Now, you have this absolutely gorgeous home (from what I can see through videos), it shows that you don't always have to live this "luxurious life" that we see on social media. You are so humble and encourage money saving tips/DIY's. I feel like there are a lot of You tubers here that spend so much for projects and in my head I'm like "Omg, I don't have a budget that big." I love your videos

This is lovely! When I was a teen my aunt would set up her guest room with magazines, snacks and small things I might need. I was so shy I didn't want to ask for anything so it was really nice that someone prepared for that. I appreciated it so much and now it's one of my favourite things to do. Slippers/ fluffy socks are good too. Making someone feel welcomed into the home is so special!

Whenever I'm a guest I usually get thrown a blanket and pillow to sleep on the sofa. lol. I'd love to visit Hotel Rachel! It is very much appreciated by your guests I'm sure!! :)
I didn't realize how thirsty I was until I saw that ice cold water and thought, that looks really good! lol Side note: I should probably drink more water.
I love the little trick of folding a blanket scarf into the duvet just so the color peaks out....well done!

Yea we don't have a guest bedroom but we do a bathroom and always have a basket of toiletries and of course towels folded for em etc! :)
I have never found a CZcamsr like you your diy's and videos are so helpful I get soooo excited when a video of yours comes out they are so entertaining love you lots Rachel
I think it is truly beautiful that you do this for people, Rachel, and you have such a kind and generous heart. However, I agree with the point you made about 'reading' your guests before doing this, as not everyone would enjoy this kind of hospitality. I appreciate a few towels left out for me, but that's about all I need and expect. If someone were to make me basket hampers or set up an entire coffee bar, I'd feel quite uncomfortable, in all honesty. When I go to someone's house, I don't want to feel like my stay has forced them to put in lots of effort and money for me, or like I'm imposing. No hate - just sharing my opinion. Love your videos xx
I totally hear you, and I know some people who feel the same way. It's really about gauging who's coming to stay with you and adjusting. For me it's not an inconvenience, I genuinely enjoy doing it. I think if you go to someones house who enjoys doing things like this, you might not feel like a bother because you know it's who they are and it makes them happy to do it. If someone was forcing all of these ideas and it's not natural to them, it might seem a bit off & uncomfortable.=) Either way, I wanted to give a bunch of ideas so it made a full video, but even if one or two of these ideas works (maybe just towels, a charger & the wifi code) then thats what I was going for =) hehe Thanks for watching. =)xo

Growing up, my mom always always had those baskets full of goodies and toiletries for guests. She always got compliments and thanks from her guests about them.

Yes.. I know a few people who would feel the same way. For those guests I don't go as overboard, as not to make them feel uncomfortable. I think a Spa girls day is a great idea. =) Thanks for watching
I was once treated by a most gracious friend to this type of experience, and I never forgot it. It's now standard practice for me to prepare baskets of goodies, and make everything super convenient for them, and to leave out food stuffs for the morning, and I even have a notebook for out of town guests that lists literally everything nearby and that we love and personally use, so that they don't have to keep asking or spend time googling forever. Every single person that has come through has been super appreciative. Even if someone thought it too much, I'd rather it too much, then too little. On the reverse, when I go see friends, before I leave, I always leave a nice thank you note for their hospitality and a gift card for dinner and a movie on me.
You are so thoughtful about every aspect of discomfort a guest may have!! It's so kind of you to do this for them!!!
I love this! I'm 16 and can't wait till I have a home (and husband and kids!) of my own to have guests over and pamper them like this!!

My mother in law is the one person I know who is very hospitable and does these types of gestures for her guests. From the very first time we stayed with her and each time after that, it was something she always did and each time it really made me feel special. I try to do it more for my guests too. I'm not the best and I'm sure need improvements here in there, so this video is really helpful!
A few months ago my sisters came to stay at my apartment after a long time and i have a guest room for them. I got reminded of a similar video of yours where u had a guest basket in the toilet so I did something similar. I added a vase w flowers, snacks, juices, towels, razor & etc and they absolutely loved it! they were in awe. Thank you for the idea! 😍😍😍
Wow I would love if someone did this for me! As someone who is more shy and doesn't like to 'bother' people, I would appreciate not having to ask for things like toothpaste, or the wifi password. So thoughtful Rachel!

I really enjoy doing things like this for my guests too. I really feel that it lets them know they are special & important enough for someone to go to all that trouble for them. Lovely video Rachel. I love the coffee mugs and the Christmas tartan rug on the bed for the extra touch.

I put a basket full of different items in by guest bathroom because of one of your other videos. I added a few tampons/pads to mine so my female guests have them available if needed. This seems so cozy! I love doing things like this too. I feel like even though I would never expect anyone who is hosting me to go to any great lengths, I really do feel so welcome and comfortable when they do little things like this..I always want to be able to make my guests feel that way too :)
