    Also, this is a video on the best pistol I have ever used and it shows why Gaston Glock (the inventor of the pistol) is one of the great gunsmiths in history (IMO).

    As always, awesome Video! In my agency we all carry Glock 19's and 26's for off duty. I couldn't agree more that the Glock is the penultimate firearm is most situations. Love my 19 and soon I will be upgrading to the Gen 4 19. Thanks for the video, well done.

      Great comment! Here is a well known secret:
      What works for most folks by far is the *smallest handgun* in their collection.
      When CCWing/carrying concealed, people almost ALWAYS carry their smallest pistol.
      That puts the Glock and Glock inspired pistols (XDs, Shield, Kahr, etc.) easily on top.
      For non-CCWing, I agree with you:
      "forget price, forget name, use what works for you, if you think its reliable, go with it."
      *But even better:*
      good price, good name, use what works for all, you know it's reliable, go with GLOCK period
      EDIT: In my opinion.

    I got my first glock this year which was the glock 19. At first I thought they were all hype until I decided to try one out. I absolutely love that gun. It's not the best gun in the world but it's definitely reliable, durable, simple, and easy to maintain. I recommend people to have diversity in their collection that way they will be more familiar with different platforms.

    • @sweetcostarica
      @sweetcostarica  Před 8 lety

      +Tevin Manuel Glad you like the G19.
      About having one gun or many different platforms, here is a common saying:
      "Beware the man with one gun, he knows how to use it."
      It means a man that trains hard with one type of gun will beat someone who uses many different types of handguns every time.
      If you seriously train & carry other types of handguns you will:
      - have to divide your time training with all to be good with all.
      - have to remember which gun you are wearing & it's manual of arms in a unexpected gun fight.
      This is why I went totally to one platform: Glock
      Stay safe.

    • @tevmanuelable
      @tevmanuelable Před 8 lety +1

      +sweetcostarica thanks man I agree but that is more suited towards common self defense. I own 4 hand guns but I only carry two...glock 19/ m&p shield. even when shooting different platforms your fundamentals will aways be the same. I thinks it's really important for preppers to be familiar with other platforms since they might have to use a firearm that they aren't familiar with in a survival situation.

    When it comes to the Question - What do I get best for the money? Glock is allways a good choice. But there are still good producers in middle Europe , that shouldn´t be forget. Like SIG Sauer, Heckler&Koch and many more. Even the CZ is verry nice. Glock is so - should I say - Mainstream^^
    My verry own favourite pistole is the HS Produkt XDM from Kroatia - which is almost similar with the Springfield Armory XD or XDM. It is a verry light pistol and realy good Qualitiy. I like it much more for IPSC than the Glock.
    Thanx for the Video, and greatings from Deutsch Wagram - Austria - the home of the Glock :-D

    Why you should not get a Glock
    1 Looks, they are ugly
    2 Price, most competing pistols are the same price or cheaper. They are over priced.
    3 Sights, they are awful
    4 Barrel, need to change to shoot some types of bullets
    5 Grip, it is odd to say the least
    6 Extras, why do people feel the need to replace all those parts, ie spring, guide rod, sights, magazine release, butt stop, texturing for the grips, surely its easier to buy a gun you like to start off with !

    • @sweetcostarica
      @sweetcostarica  Před 8 lety

      +MrHolster The finger space is not very good for gloves with the G43 or G42. Even with the bigger Glocks it is difficult to use any glove that has padding. The Mechanix Glove in this video is the thickest glove I would use shooting Glocks with.
      This was a surprising fact I found out when I moved to Alaska. In Nevada (where I bought my 1st Glock) of course gloves were not an issue.
      Have a great 2016!

  • @uralbob1
    @uralbob1 Před 2 lety

    Good video! Just found you and subscribed. But....Economy of training does not a firearm love affair make!
    I know Glock and other poly guns are great, and if Hickok45 likes them, you know they're good!
    I've fired many different polymer pistols, but I truly love hammer fired guns made of metal. Although I do own three polymer framed firearms, I've never cared for the squishy triggers.
    My love is reserved for guns like the CZ 75 (2075) and clones, 1911's (Colt Lightweight Commander), and Ruger Vaquero (45 Colt), which I hunt deer with.
    I also own Bersa firearms that I feel are not given as much respect as they deserve.
    The Bersa DA/Decocker .45 Ultra Compact (it ain't compact) is perfectly reliable, and has never failed to fire, eject, or chamber. Good trigger too.
    My EDC is a Ruger LCR (.327 Magnum) and I handload almost every caliber I shoot.
    Did I need to mention to any of you that I'm an old fart?

    • @sweetcostarica
      @sweetcostarica  Před 2 lety

      A lovable "old fart". There are many good polymer striker-fired handguns out there, it is mind numbing trying to find _"the best"._
      Most people, groups, police, and militaries use the Glock, SIG, CZ or FN. But the Glock is everywhere and my choice.
      Classic guns like 1911s (I used the M1911 in the Navy), Hi-Power M35, CZ 75, Luger, S&W Model 10 revolver, or Dirty Harry's Model 29 - .44 magnum revolver, Beretta's 92, etc. They are excellent *_but _* outdated and their old technology is... old.
      When I carried the .40 ounce M1911 on my submarine for topside watch it always tried to pull my Dungarees down and it was difficult to run without holding the holster. All metal guns are nice to shoot but not great to wear all day. This is one of the reasons polymers & space age alloys have mostly replaced steel in many types of firearm parts.
      When police switched from revolvers to semi-auto pistols their accuracy/hit rate increased 40 percent. And these new duty pistols where much easier to learn. On and on.
      Anyway, I don't make many videos these days as I am with my family now an doing busy family business. Thank you for your nice comments 👍.

      +jesse bermudez I would 1st go back to where you bought your Glock, explain the malfunctions, and see about correcting them. Even Glock makes a lemon or two.
      Note: with these brand new & smaller Glocks they might not preform as well as the Glock 26 or larger. The reasons vary but the slide rubbing a glove, a finger touching the slide of these small gun, after market parts can cause trouble, and so on.

      If you watch the rest of the video, or my other "gun" videos, you will never hear me do or refer to *clearing my firearm.* I do it BUT I don't record that common sense safety measure on my videos simply because it wastes time.

      "The Australian Bureau of Criminology states its murder rate in 2006 with firearms was the highest ever at *16.3 percent.* The ban started in 1997."
      and
      "Researchers at the University of Melbourne, however, found no such improvement as a result of the new system. "There is *little evidence* to suggest that it (Australia's Gun Ban) had any significant effects on firearm homicides or suicides," they wrote."

    • @ladymelisandre975

      +sweetcostarica
      Firearms in the UK are a complex issue. However we can own firearms here in the UK just not handguns or as you correctly phrased "personal defense firearms". Owning a shotgun in the UK is commonplace, especially if you live out in the country, rifles and historical black powder only firearms can be owned and used too under certain conditions.
      Anti-firearm legislation in the UK began in 1594! In fact under common law we did have the right to own arms for our defence since 1707, the same law that was adapted for use in the US constitution perhaps you are familiar with it? 'Carrying' weapons of any kind was essentially made illegal here in 1824 we are used to it by now. We could do with some better laws to let us protect ourselves and property non-lethally (and accidentally lethally) but that's about it really.

    • @sweetcostarica
      @sweetcostarica  Před 8 lety

      Lady Melisandre Great to hear from someone who is a UK citizen. I hope you are also allowed to use those weapons to protect your home, family, and neighbors for "bad" guys & terrorist i.e. not put the innocent person who was just trying to defend himself/herself or others in jail.
      We all need to protect ourself (the Police/government can't). One word:
      "Brussels".
      That is *another* wake up call.

    • @themelios21
      @themelios21 Před 8 lety +2

      I've already decided that, if the laws change here in the US, I will not comply. I will not give up even one gun, one magazine, one round of ammunition. The only way to maintain one's rights is to fight for them. There will always be totalitarians looking to disarm us and to thus take advantage of our resultant weak position. But we must not let that happen. I advise the peoples of the world to arm up, even if it is illegal.

      +joe bananas If you have already practiced with .22's pistols and generally know about shooting, the basics,
      *Starting*
      I suggest the Glock 19 for open carry, home defense, and Winter concealed carry. For ALL THE TIME concealed carry get a Glock 42 in .380 ACP.
      *Finishing*
      Once you get the hang of it go for the big Glock 40 (this is a 10mm canon) and for concealed carry the Glock 43 (in 9mm). These two are amazing pistols (IMO).

The length of the grip is different on all of them and the hump will hit your hand in a different place on each of them. I own 4 glocks and they all shoot a little bit differently for me because of hand size. Its a personal feeling thing. For example I wouldn't be able pick out the perfect pair of running shoes for you. I don't know what fits you best. Take your time. They are a life time investment!!!! That said the G19 is pretty great for most folks.

      Thanks for the great advice. Another question, Do you have to fill out a bunch of paperwork to buy a gun? I hate paperwork. Thanks.

      +torgomax Not really, you have to fill out like your name, address, height, eye color and stuff like that, and check about 10 yes/no boxes. It prob takes maybe 4 mins.

    What's up with the rape gloves?

      Just wanted to use black gloves (any type) to keep the focus on the star of the video - Glock pistols.
      This is similar to the all black clothes actors in the background of a play.
      Sorry if you were confused by them.
