Fantastic combination of new technology (like the power hammer) with old (like wiring the billets and so much file work)!!! Thank you so much for the vid.
Among the wery first things i did here was to give Your channel a permanent place on my personal top ten list And it´s still there! Every single video!
Youre so cool! I dont suppose Ive see something like this before. So good to seek out any person with some authentic thoughts on this subject. realy thank you for beginning this up. this video is something thats needed on the youtube, somebody with just a little originality. helpful job for bringing something new to the youtube!
Wow - that is the first time I've seen a smith do a Damascus steel stack with a liquid flux infusion and wire twist compression. I AM TRULY IMPRESSED! (It looked so much more clean and efficient than bead welding and losing grain pattern to the angle grinder later).
Don't die of an overload of badassery. And don't throw away the bit you cut out to make the fish mouth tip. Turn that little bit of metal into a lucky damascus arrowhead.
You are a highly skilled. I cannot stop watching the video the sword and the pattern are so beautiful amazing! Do you think forging a similar sword by hand with help from a striker with a sledgehammer is possible ?
you see the colour changing from normal metal to golden aspect, it's not to temper but to remove a little bit of tempered treatement as the blade doesn't brake
Sir, that white powder you're sprinkling the ingot with before heating, what is it? What for? What you're doing is absolutely stunning craftsmanship! Thanks for sharing.
I am working on putting together my own forge setup. I cant wait till I have one at home I can use. I have been fortunate enough to meet a man with a wonderful home shop who has been willing to help guide and teach me a few things.

I like the removal of the arc welding to keep mild steel out
James Needham i wondered why he was doing that
I love the fact that you actually test the hardness and reflex! Not a lot of people do that in video.
王立恒 yes. I think they don't whant to break their sword...
and some blades wont flex back at all depending on the heat treat style

Ah ha! The sword we have all been anxiously waiting for! The Viking sword!

Listening to that power hammer is mildly satisfying.
6:00 worlds longest forge weld ever.

Stuart Smith thanks!

Thanks!
That is a beautiful sword, I hope one day I'll have the skill to do that
That is one beautyfull sword
I've never seen anyone so calm when forge welding. I usually see smiths do their welds with quick, aggressive strikes.
I feel the steel weld when I do it calmly. i learned that there is no great force required for a good weld, just controlled hits.
Freerk Wieringa Makes sense. Beautiful blade by the way. Thanks for the video.
most beautiful sword
I love it !
I'm your fan 01

Exodus 2017 it was fun but still not perfect. Have to repeat and get better in it... Unfortunately I have no customers yet for swords like you s..
After 55,000 views (4/2017), hopefully some customers with fat wallets will start coming forward.

Don't die of an overload of badassery. And don't throw away the bit you cut out to make the fish mouth tip. Turn that little bit of metal into a lucky damascus arrowhead.

Jij bent hier echt super goed in!!!!!
you are cool!!!
Un fucking believable👍 Great job✌️
Adam Kawa Thank you!
What did you dip it in to bring out the pattern of the damascus?
What's the white stuff you dip it into at the beginning?
You are a highly skilled. I cannot stop watching the video the sword and the pattern are so beautiful amazing! Do you think forging a similar sword by hand with help from a striker with a sledgehammer is possible ?
Thanks, yes it is very possible, the medieval power hammer.
what type of fan are you using on your gas forge?
BorntoForge mostly boat /camper ventilation fans.
what is the powder they always sprinkle on? Big fan of forge videos, but I have no idea about the process.
what is he use in the water before he heat the strip steel?
Hi, nice work.
Why do you use wire to put layers together and don't used weld to do it?
Holy shit that was an even ass temper for using a torch
Ahh, I was wondering if he was using the torch to temper the blade.
you see the colour changing from normal metal to golden aspect, it's not to temper but to remove a little bit of tempered treatement as the blade doesn't brake
Am I right in thinking this sword has a 1095-15n20 core and a 5160 edge?
Do you have a store? After I set some money aside, where could I get one of these? This was great. Bedankt.
Heel netjes.
Carramba86 H bedankt!
Sir, that white powder you're sprinkling the ingot with before heating, what is it? What for?

by the 9 okay didn't see that . very intrigued
What's is the solution you brush on before welding? Nice work, btw!
it is a borax solution, thanks!
preciosa !!
how much one of them cost cuz?
when you made the center piece of steel out of that wound piece, does this give the sword its flexibility?
no, the edge is of springsteel but it did in the viking age
are those hvac slips?
Hi.If its ok to share,What is the quench media you are using?Mixture?
