Ronoa zoro sword please😢😢😢
Can you do a Templar sword?
For Honor
How much money do I need to pay to get this off of you
Can You make katana from Kimetsu No Yaiba
All of that work, WITH modern equipment, for a single sword.
Blacksmiths back then must've had a hell of a time.
Album Interpretations nah, it only takes them 17 minutes
Album Interpretations several months of work. There is an excellent documentary to je found on youtube that follows a few grand masters making katanas in the old fashioned way.
You know it was their job, they were paid for this, and usually the better blackmisth was he better payment they got for it, so well they had this time becaus it was their job.
No that's the length of the video
The forging and the polishing were done by different craftsmen, but yeah I'm sure it took a long time to get a finished katana. However, I don't think they put as much detail on a sword if they were in a hurry.
It's just so satisfying to see Ilya work, turning a chunk of metal into something so artistic and deadly at the same time. It's just like watching a baby dog growing into a full grown husky.
M-T too bad they're skipping it this time D:
agreed but i prefer watching him do engraving i don't know the beauty of watching him work is almost hypnotic and the end result is nothing short of art
baby dog ? ... like a puppy ?
I bet he could have made the entire sword all by himself
There's something about Ilya, that I just can't stand. He seems so pretentious. No doubt he's talented, but as a person, I just can't abide him
No lie, I wanna see a legit Japanese sword maker do a reaction video to this video.
Why?
@@cretudavid8622 Idk maybe to test the legitimacy of it?
Most of these techniques are legit
Nonetheless ppl enjoy ppl who are natively apart of the history behind historical artifacts
@@cretudavid8622 cuz thats not exactly a nodachi
I’m never going to create a weapon nor do I have the patience or the experience to create a weapon like this but I truly do love watching people make these weapons & have so much passion. I even watch the people who make these weapons from home. But these guys you can tell are legit pro’s
Man At Arms, you guys do a lot of recreation swords, giant swords, functional replicas and fantasy weapons. I wanna see you guys create a high-performance sword. The best sword Baltimore Knife and Sword have ever made. Top of the line steel, distal tapers, perfect centres of percussion, good edge retention (maybe differential tempering?), razor sharp (i.e. will shave you), solid construction, original engraving and art designs, good blade geometry, excellent point of balance, a protective pommel, ergonomic pommel letting you feel your edge alignment, of course the pommel construction will be on point as always, a good flex to take the strain of impact (HEMA or Kendo consultants for the feel of the blades? I dunno...), and basically make the most perfect sword you guys ever have. Call it, "At the Man's Arm," or "the Perfect Sword." I think it would be an awesome challenge, from forging to grinding, to material sourcing.
EDIT: I know this is a lame thing to ask, but it seems like they respond to "a lot of similar comments" as opposed to one upvoted one. Thanks for all the thumbs, btw. So, could you guys repost this? Or a similar one? Just to help make this happen! Only if you guys want to, of course. Thanks, again!
Credit Stefan Massyn
I second that!
Tea Party best idea ever 😄
Did you even read the full comment?
While I want it to happen as well, the name suggestions are excruciatingly AWE-ful instead of AWEsome.
been wanting this for a LONG time
Gamers want weapons from their games, history fans want historical weapons. Man-at-Arms gives us both in one :D
I dunno, i dont think old school katana makers melted down copper pipe for the fittings.
DapperDan I don’t believe I said anything about how the swords were made, just that history nuts want historical weapons.
Pretty sure they would have, or perhaps they actually cast copper into pipes for cutting and later usage to make their own lives easier.
Japanese smiths would have melted any copper on hand, melting old pipe is quicker than smelting ore. Realistically a smith would probably have bought copper ingots. People like to think that Japanese swordsmiths did all the things, but really they just shaped the blade. smelting raw materials was usually someone else's job.
Found this video by accident (searching for Forged in Fire episodes) and I am happy that I did. As much as I love watching FiF, this is so much better. Watching the details of the making of one weapon, vs watching 4 (then 3, then 2) people compete and catching only glimpses of how they do their work, is sooooo much better
They are both good in there own ways, no point in comparing lmfao
僕日本人だけど、ちゃんと玉鋼から作ってくれたり、土を塗って波紋作ってくれたりしていてちゃんと日本の文化を尊敬してくれていてとても嬉しい❤ thank you very much👍🏻
whenever i see these videos i always think "damn, ilya is such a manly man"
Good Craftsmanship, dont see what makes him manly lol.
It's called finesse son!!!
Yeah that dude is pretty amazing. His skill is invaluable in that shop.
bcause he is Russian
cyka blyat!!
I really love Ilya's chisel work.
You guys could link to hidden videos that is just raw footage of certain things.
I'm sure there are others like me who would like to see the full footage of Ilya's chisel and engraving work.
I already made that kind of comments before, so I can't agree more! I would watch full videos on engraving techniques!
True that and i would really love to see how such tools are made. One must first build his tools, before learning to use them and gradually master them to actually get to working with them. Engraving is tedious job, but i have patience for such things.. problem is that local hardware shop really dont have chisels like that in the shelf and sensei Ilya has only shown small portion what is needed to learn.
I dont come here just to see cool swords, but learn new methods to do things and get inspiration to my own work. I would really like even raw/very little edited video, with little commentary on the side. I have been saying this for years, hopefully they will do this:)
"ASMR video - Ilya's Chisel Work"
i would watch him doing chisel all day, really
Everyone else: The host is from John Wick 3
Me: Allez Cuisine!!!!
Anish Patel what do u mean I’ve legit only seen one comment about the host guy is from John wick 3
He also played Eric Draven in the short-lived tv show The Crow: Stairway To Heaven and Wo Fat in the reboot of Hawaii 5-0.
@@Blizzard0fOz93 No that was Brandon Lee. Bruce Lee's son who played in the crow. Mark Dacascos has a few movies such as only the strong , double dragon etc. They do look alike a little especially with the make up from the crow.
@@gabrielvalentin3940 no, he died during the filming of the movie. Mark Dacascos played the same character, but in the tv show.
@@gabrielvalentin3940 I think that he was fatally wounded specifically during the shootout scene, if i recall correctly.
I’ve watched this twice now. I’m even more amazed thinking just how much dedication ONE single man had to commit for a completed sword. This sword is nicely done. Yet, the master done all his word by hand, hand forged from beginning to dedication to its owner. Not once was there a mill, hammer mill, modern furnace, fancy engravers tools. All in there time was state of the art. What we would say were pretty primitive to our modern industrial tools available in use today.
I would love to go back in time and learn the secrets of the masters. Impressive indeed.
Good build from your team. The sword is beautiful.
Same
At a point the japanese blacksmiths had power hammers and the hand griding and polishing wasn't done by the one who made the sword, but yeah, still impressive and extrenelly time consuming either way, in WWII Japan actually employed industrial methods to the swords for their soldiers, and they had to be done fast and without that much care
The host dude is in John Wick 3 lmao
He is
k?
Thats why he was so familiar
that guy has some legit movies and skills. you should watch some
ok
Can you do Samurai jack's sword please?
i was thinking on that
well, this sword was just a nodachi...
"historical ninjato" is a bit of a misnomer as there is little evidence to suggest they existed in that context. The nearest historical example to a ninjato is called a chokuto. Honestly it doesn't make sense for what is essentially a spy trying to blend in to have a signature weapon anyway.
just a nodachi? JUST A NODACHI? are u serious ?
Gabriel Vitor Yes i do believe so. its a pretty sword, but it is just another nodachi.
This honestly has to be the best thing I've ever watched on here, yes Pyramids Head's Knife was pretty badass and everything else here but...this has to top it off in a different level.
This is beautiful. What a skilled team of artists!
Ilyas is the GOAT. But you never see comments about him, its mainly just comments about what people want to be built. Ilya doesnt get the praise he deserves
Totally agree. Seriously, he doesn't get enough credit. I hope the Stagmer brothers are paying him what he's worth. I know a few local bladesmiths that would kill to have someone with his talent on their staff.
He is the best. I wish he had his own channel where he blacksmithed and crafted all day long
SpearM3064
mate he obviously gets his cut. they sell most of the stuff and a raw guess would be that the excalibur alone would go for maybe 10k?
additionally they get sponsored AND make youtube money so they probably dont have to worry about cash at all.
these people are some of the few artists that get what they deserve and i hope we can admire the outcome for many more years
hey random stranger scrolling down the comments i wish you a good day/night
Thank you Sir. Good day/night to you too (:
DryTEK wellcome bro :)
Bless you, sir.
What a breath of fresh are to see a nice comment on the youtubes. Thank you good sir!

The name of this episode should be Iron Chef: Man at Arms: Reforged
Lol indeed
Saw a video of how it's done in Japan. 3 days just to forge and rough shape. When it was all done (weeks later). A swordsman went through those mats so clean that it didn't move while it was cut 3 times from different directions. Awesome!!
Can you link the video?
It always amazes me how steady the teams hands are, that's something that must have taken hours of work to perfect, it's so satisfying to see master craftsmen at their work.
Cal6009 my dad learnt to axe smith as a hobby since he was a teen and I get annoyed every time he shows someone because it seems almost impossible for someone to be so good at something. Mind you he did pay for it in a few scars and such.
Very cool result with the Nodachi. Also, Mark Dacascos as "Zero" in John Wick Parabellum was excellent. He played the psychotic fan of the Legendary John Wick really well.
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship.
Katana is our soul.I believe this sword is one of the best weapons in history.
From Tokyo 🇯🇵
Magic
Shibatan Tokyo hussar saber is the best
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
there never was a time in history where a katana quality wise was as good as an upper class European sword. one of many reasons was that the Japanese had pretty shitty steel so that they started importing it from Europe the first chance they got.
(to this day most "traditional" Japanese blacksmith use imported steel).
tdlr: no it wasn't
Jorge Sandoval folding to achive higher quality was known earlier in Europe(among other techniques) than Japan. when the Portuguese arived in around 1540 they ended the samurai era by introducing the Japanese to firearms.
the Europeans always had the superior weaponry and armoury measured by quality and effectiveness. this hasn't changed to this day.
and no my opinion is not biased for a long time even when I began blacksmithing I also belived katanas where the pinnakle of quality and craftsmanship but that's just not true.
peace out and have a good one
I want to live with these people during a zombie apocalypse
Sammy :P yes
@D0ctorF0ster you must be dumb if you think this is actually cg and fx
@D0ctorF0ster anata o baka ?
Yes dude

Who in the world disliked this video? This was seriously craftmanship is better than most people could even have the patience to do. What an awesome video. Now I'd love to see the Japanese do it old school.
Absolutely a beautiful sword. The detail is mind-blowing
"There's only one way to test this blade." I thought they would bring in an executed convict, since that was how they tested swords in Japan xD
Same lmao
Not executed, convicted
monkaGIGA
Indeed!
Actually yes executed they would test them on the dead
Watching any product that involves Ilya is always a pleasure, his knowledge of the build, and its history is truly outstanding.
Paul Farrer Music probs googled it
Mind blown... I've watched so many of these videos. Truly talented people
So many talanted and high-skilled guys made this sword. It's really hard to imagine how in the ancient times one person was able to manage all this process by his own. Astonishing.
it's incredible the level of talent and knowledge Ilya possesses
Went in straight, came out just right.
KevWebsz lol
*applause*
KevWebsz *thank you gif*
That's what she said right?
Impressive... I’ve always wanted to forge such a worthy work of art. Such beauty and such a extremely deadly weapon in the hands of an experienced person with the heart and passion of the true Samurai!
The fluidity of the skill of the Samurai with the this weapon shows both the commitment and dedication from the heart and soul.
Excellent craftsmanship! A true honor to watch this level of artistic expression. Hat tip to all.
It's always amazing to watch them work.
"until next time, stay sharp" kill me
Looks like Ilya used a sharpie, too.
He's swinging the sword wrong too
don't skip anything, just make a 40min to 1hour video
that would still require skipping. This isn't that short of a process.
Ziggy Zip yea this takes days
i know i just mean't show some of all the processes
You know, I'd love to see a daily vlog on one of these. I'd watch it start to finish!
these don't takes days.THEY TAKES MONTHS
I would love to see more historical builds like this. Especially a Hussar szabla, a yatagan, or a dao.
I love it when the blade is glowing hot and they dip into water. The sound is so nice
Ilya at arms*
hes the only reason i watch this channel beside for the weapons themselves :3
So... Man at arms would be correct still
Yeah,its not men
He's an awesome talent

*"-of course, there is really only one way to test a blade..."*
*Me: "Prisoners?!...oh..."*
farmers actually
No he's right, Sword makers we're allowed to test on Prisoners their newly-forged blades! Depending on the crime, they could take a hand, maybe a leg, sometimes if a prisoner did something really bad, They were allowed to take their life.. Very interesting really!
ドリフトスパッド/Slidey_Spud Thats one way to reduce the prison population.
they did it to not only test the lade but also rank them a sword that could cut through a whole body and retain its blade and sharpness over something that could only do a limb or two was concidered a better blade and therefore yelded much more respect and honor to a bladesmith
did you know that whenever sword makers tried to make swords made of damascus steel, they would heat the blade until it looked like the rising sun in the desert, then cooled to a deep purple then plunged into the body of a muscular slave. Using donkey urine was also another way too. I found it on this website www.nytimes.com/1981/09/29/science/the-mystery-of-damascus-steel-appears-solved.html
The curve that blade takes on f4om the quench is legit as hell! Fascinating stuff. I loved Mark in "Le pacte de Loups".
The patience making this piece is amazing.
as an engineer, artist and nerd... I LOVE THIS.
it's like a marriage of art, engineering and nerdiness.

This is a incredible team. The process of making the sword & the amount of hours & effort it took to see it finally completed is Amazing. Brilliant!💯🙏🏼
Mr.Mark Dacoscos my favorite martial artist since the American samurai and a great host for Man at Arms.
NOICE. We got more detail footage this time around.👍😎
It's really too bad that the only comments you see on these videos are requests.
Friendly Cordyceps you're right, not enough comments about the episode
agreed, the work that goes into making these are amazing and the finished product is almost always beutiful and a great reforge of a weapon. the amount of time and effort that goes into not only the pieces but also the video makes for an amazing finished product that we are lucky to enjoy.
Friendly Cordyceps
Oh, please. There are complaints about the proportions, too!
Actually, that's a good thing. A very good thing. There's a facebook group dedicated to commenting on the videos, but they aren't allowed to take requests there. There's some copyright stuff involved with that, since the facebook group allows the creators to speak directly with the fanbase.
The comment section on these videos are explicitly designated for requests.
master roshi means master master

Rowan Midnight yeah its new limited series. around 13 new episodes I believe that never made it to the original run
Nope, it's new animations. They have people from the original team returning. It's going to be a full series on Adult Swim.
it's confirmed. 5th and final season. 10 episodes. anyone that says anything else doesn't know facts. show was canceled originally after season 4. Limited series is correct. Listen to the trailer.
"And now for your secret ingredient..."
That was beautifully done!!
Ilya is way too good, its disturbing and makes me question the reason of my presence on this earth.
Raph Vandal life struggles
tru
I can guarantee he didn't get that good overnight. It's like driving stick, it takes practice
profile pic fits perfectly
He was on another show as a competitor called forged in fire, I remember him being an oddball but it was neat watching him do stuff on his own.
So the length of that sword, it makes me think it was specifically for taking down horse mounted soldiers? Or maybe cutting down the horses themselves?
I don't see it being a practical blade in ground fighting in dense troop areas.
But it's a beautiful weapon.
Also, I hope you guys are paying Ilya a lot of money because it seems like he's doing all the heavy lifting in these weapons builds.
***** but would you be dueling with it?
Eethan O'Connell you are pretty much correct. Have you ever seen Princess Mononoke ? In it there's a seen where a few bandits have these swords, and mostly what they use them for is cutting off horses heads when the rider is full charge, and causing the rider to be flung, usually to their death if they are riding fast enough.
cowartd I do remember that movie. :-)
Eethan O'Connell from my understanding it was like the great sword and was used against the riders and Spears or used much like a poll arm or a longer Nagamaki
You wouldn't be dueling with the Nodachi, it was more of a battle field weapon...I mean Nodachi literally means field sword. So it was used by infantry but once the government set the law that swords needed to be a certain length it lost it use and it kind of just became a weapon for ceremonies. Its about the size of Scottish claymore.
that beautiful sound that warns the moment: Let's test the weapon!
Crying Freeman made me big fan of Mark Dacascos, Tony Jaa reminds me of him, thanks for the vid ^^

He has AMZING talent, like holy crap.
No Ilya, no man at arms. He needs his own spinoff.
Well, he is a Forged In Fire Champion after all
Eh. FIF is much more closely controlled than Man At Arms. The blades forged on FIF aren't even fully heat treated by the smiths, the tempering is done off screen between filming days.
Nero's Red Queen from Devil May Cry 4
Amaze Master sticking a blade on an engine, if it was fully functional it would probably be heavier than their buster sword build. I'd pay to see that happen

Make some war hammers and mauls for once.
Zangief maybe Reinhardt's hammer?
Yeah, make some weapons that can actually kill a man in full plate armor, not this flimsy Katayana that will break after 10 sword clashes lmao.
Katana's are one of the strongest swords around actually, Original Katana's made back in the time of the samurai were so strong they could cut through Knights Chain mail. Today's Katana's can cut through 2inchs of steel before breaking
lel
You need to look more into weapons throughout history. They all have their strength and weaknesses. One of the reasons the Romans were so strong was because they learned how to use different weaponry.
Very impressive. Ilya is the heart and soul of that shop. Seems he can do it all; and mostly does on every project. He's a master blade smith, weapon's historian, metallurgist, engraver, machinist, woodworker, wood carver and an all around true multi-discipline artist. That is one big blade. I wonder how much they sold it for and who the lucky owner is? No doubt they had many offers on that impeccable piece of art. Personally, I prefer a standard sized Katana and would love to have a folded Tamahagane one that beautifully built by Ilya and crew.
i love how neat they did everything good job definetly subscribing to this channel
This gives a great visual on how big the nodachi actually is. The way the kensei wields it almost with no effort really shows how much skill and training it took to be able to Wield it.

That would be the Claymore sword
Actually its the bastard sword, or the hand and a half sword.

Nodachi is a one hand-held weapon, was made to used for high-ranked Samurai on horses, to knock down the enemy from above. With the length of the sword was also usable for man to man combat, also it was a one hand held sword, not for cutting but to knock down the enemy. Killing and clean up was for the low-ranked soldiers.
Nodachi was used in war or battlefields, there wasn't the time or lot of money to make this weapon beautiful, like this men have made.
Respect and wel made guys, beautiful weapon.
