    Hey Stefan! Amazing video, just like always! But this time it has a special meaning to me since the Spring Heeled Jack is a very personal project, putting two passions of mine: comic book and knife making. There's a lot to tell about it and it maybe couln't hold in a video. Two other things I can share with you. "Spring" also refers to the launching of this collection, which occurred in early June. And Jack Hawksmoor connects to the knife in another way: Spring Heeled Jack was most of the inspiration for the character in Stormwatch and later in The Authority. The drawing I did on the box tries to morph the two of them ;-).

      Thank you so much for sharing this additional information, Roland! I know I could have asked you but I always try to figure out as much as I can myself.

    This is a great video! I love how you seek out and display knives that many of us wouldn't normally get to see. It's refreshing to see something different than the usual high speed low drag tacticool.

    Wonderful to see you back on You Tube. Your channel is so far ahead of the field that every viewing becomes a "walkover" .

    Another spot on video! What a beautiful knife. The lack of nail nick is awesome. Thums way up👍👍👍

    • @stoneblue1795
      @stoneblue1795 Před 6 lety +3

      Agreed... if the rig is built and adjusted well, the nick becomes an unnecessary appendage. Being left pawed, the nicks are always on the wrong side for me anyway. Simplicity wins on this one, I like it.

  • @AussieMark909
    @AussieMark909 Před 6 lety

    A simple and useful design. I like the fact the clean lines of the blade are not disturbed by an unnecessary nail nick. The comic book scales are a fun touch. Thanks for another wonderful video Stefan. Very best wishes for Christmas and 2018.

    I like the drop point design, perfect for small knife-snob food cutting tasks. I was going to give you some shit about the lack of wine in this review until it of course popped in at around 5:07, making your synopsis quite PERFECT as-per-usual!

    Another great review of another beautiful knife, wel done ! I remember reading about Spring Heeled Jack many years ago. A fscinating tale. If I remember correctly, the article concluded that he was a circus performer who'd gone mad.

      Hey, get a nice Opinel from France, choose one with the carbon steel blade, it will be perhaps the most fulfilling knife you have ever owned for about $18.00 bucks.

    • @Dronston
      @Dronston Před 6 lety

      Very true. You'll be glad to know I own an Opinel #5, #6, #7, #8, #9 , #10 and #12, most in carbon steel. But the combined price of those probably wouldn't buy one of the knives Stefan reviews ;)

    Moin Stefan,
    absolut gelungene Vorstellung....und du hast wahrlich ein sehr erlesenes Modell bekommen.
    Solch klar gezeichnete Comicgriffschalen,habe ich bisher an keinem anderen Modell gesehen.
    Der Anfang dieses Videos hat mir besonders gut gefallen,toll gemacht...ziehe erneut meinen Hut.
    Peace
    Stephan

    Moin!
    Dieses Video kommt mit einigen Variationen zu deiner bisherigen Art Videos zu machen. Die 6:49 Minuten wirken viel länger, als ich erwartet hatte. Ich nehme an, es liegt an den Zwischensequenzen. Wie gewohnt, ein technisch und fachlich perfektes Video! LG Claus

    Despite the infamous name, that looks like an excellent utilitarian design! That lunchbox packaging looks great + the Warren Ellis/comics reference (I grew up with US comics too!)
    BTW, just a hypothesis about the aforementioned character; he was probably a mechanical genius with Batman-like gadgetry at his disposal who was set-up as a diversion for something more nefarious occurring at that perticular time.
    Hey, conspiracy theories make life interesting, right?

    Hi Stefan, thx for this extraordinary video about a also extraordinary knife. I didnt´like the appearance of the former models from Roland ( too slim for my preferences), but this one is definitely on my list. Greetings, Dirk

    Stefan you’re awesome but you missed the name of Spring-heeled Jack all together. It refers to a demon like creature that was allegedly seen in America prior to 1900. Spring-heeled Jack is a prior American slang for Satan.

    • @StefanSchmalhaus
      @StefanSchmalhaus  Před 5 lety

      I'm afraid you got it wrong. As I explain in the intro, Spring-heeled Jack was a British phenomenon:
