You need to leave the BIOS option to Switching (or hybrid) if you want the laptop screen to work. Consider disabling the onboard GPU in device manager instead, not sure if that would work, but that is the approach.
Also, the WiFi m.2 slot is on a 2x slot. If the laptop has an m.2 meant for an SSD then that will be 4x and should perform better.

Very important. The 4-pin connector should go to the motherboard 4-pin connector, and NOT the 4-pin from the 20+4 main connector. The motherboard 4-pin connector is sometimes packaged as a 4+4 connector, just uncouple it to get what you need. This setup works with mini Pc boxes, but you need to use the WIFI port, not the m.2 port. Make sure you have the NGFF cable or use a mini-PCIe to NGFF adapter cable.

using the pci-e card you get only 2.5gb/s of throughput and if you use the internal display it will half that even more...therefore the throughput is horrible if using the internal display...the best way is to use the eGPU's display output to a monitor and set Windows to Projector mode.

4:40 You will Probably already have found out but, You can go to Display settings, Scroll down and look for a small text that says graphics settings, click on it and then you have to choose the game or Programm you want to use the Gpu with. click on browse and find the game application in your files. Then it takes u back to the settings screen where you can see the program you chose. click on it and click on options and choose the gtx 560. Now it should always use the gtx 560 for that specific program. and u will probably be able to set it back to switching gpu mode in the bios, beacause then everything on your laptop screen is rendered with gt 640m except for the games, im not sure though. but doing so does add a bit off delay. Everything your gtx 560 is doing has to travel back through the pcie port to the gt 640m and then to the laptop screen so i myself would use a seperate monitor anyway.

Just my suggestion to make that GPU+Beast not connected into a 220V socket and more "portable" -
Use a Pico 12V 160W PSU or HD Plex 12V 300W PSU + a customized/DIY 12V 25AH batteries made in either Li-ion or LiPo with BMS + Battery Voltage Meter + Charger Module
Basically you'll need to learn electrical stuff or ask a friend with electronics background to make that, and the result will make it work for hours without any source from outlet, and making its size same as the laptop, it is easy to carry together with it.

For everyone that are wondering if this works, it does I tried it before but it has a problem The graphic card that is connected does not work as it's supposed to be The performance is not constant and frame drops happen I have tried the same card with my laptop and then I installed it on my PC and there was a big difference between the two I think this information is very important for anyone who wants to try this method
Note: The difference between the two is the stuttering and the frame drops both of them reached higher frame rates than the laptop's

It's because of the CPU... In the case open you may boost your cpu slight up so the laptop isn't CPU bound and also since you are on a laptop you also may wanna upgrade your ram if its some what about 4-8gigs coz that's where the most stutters come from.

Hey Dude, do you know if it's possible to upgrade an old Toshiba Pro 75-A7200?
I wish to upgrade it adding an eGPU, a ZOTAC GTX 1660 6GB GDDR6.
The Toshiba's CPU is an Intel Core i7 4700 MQ and I can upgrade 32 GB RAM up to.
The thing is that I want to keep using it 'cause I don't have enough money to get a new one and I have to keep working on it with some design software. Do you think it is possible to give it a second life?
When I'm working or playing, the statistics and percents says that CPU is working around a 25% only and Intel graphics are always 100%, so I thought that I could upgrade it with an GTX 1660 super 6 GB GDDR6.

There has to be a video output from for egpu to your laptops screen. You should remove the screen add a input socket to the screen or make one for your self depending on the screen type. Than cable your graphicsto tthe input socket, wich makes it unpractical. You need a laptop with thunderbolt if you want to game on laptops screen.

you know i love it how people always state things like "i can't afford space for a desktop and i don't want to deal with all the extra cables just to get into pc gaming, a laptop for me is perfect", yet to get a graphics card to work with a laptop, you still need a desktop power supply, and the pci express slot that comes with that dock, not only that but unless you have an ethernet cable or an extra usb wifi card, you cannot get back online, because that's how the graphics card is connecting and communicating to your laptop computer, and a project like this cannot be exactly "cheap" either all this hardware have to be purchased including the graphics card and every time you want to use the laptop on the go you have to disconnect all those cables and reinstall the wifi card, its doable but for people like me overtime this kind of strategy would become a headache.
