Batman and Batman Returns, directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton, were big box office hits that brought the Dark Knight to a whole new level of popularity. Naturally Warner Bros wanted another film to follow them up, but had to do so with a new director, Joel Schumacher AND a new Batman, Val Kilmer.
Batman Forever definitely raises a lot of questions. Like what’s up with the completely new visual style? Why does Batman adopt a fully grown man? What’s up with those… things on the batsuit? Well the rest of the cast did not end up in poverty and shame (actually the cast is fantastic)
I love how Batman came to the fight with a handful of coins in his belt knowing they'd come in handy because he's Batman.
He knew going in that Two-Face's coin is his biggest vulnerability, and it'd be a great way to distract him. That was probably the only thing that made sense in the whole movie.
They even foreshadowed it.

Also Returns got a lot of backlash for being too dark in fact McDonalds had to pull the batman returns happy meal toys because parents where complaining they shouldn't be marketing that film to children. So the studio removed Tim Burton as director and then went for this cartoony approach for this film and the next one and Keaton also wasn't fond that he wouldn't be working with Tim Burton.

This movie was ahead of it's time. Just recently some weird couple adopted a grown ass man who identifies as a 6 year old girl named Stephaknee.
“What was Batman just sitting in court” that line made me laugh so hard cuz I just kept picturing it.
The idea of a leather-clad Batman just sitting in court made me laugh even as a kid.

Believe it or not, Schumacher actually wanted a dark and gritty story taking inspiration from Frank Miller stuff. Studio, on the other hand, wanted to sell toys and basically forced him to make it brighter and cartoony.
Imagine being in a crowded courtroom and you hear “defense calls Batman to the stand” and some guy in a rubber nipple-suit just shows up and sits down
I'm trying to. But it is hard to imagine it and take him seriously afterwards.
Some might even say I M P O S S I B L E. Like it is a P L O T B R E A K I N G issue for the franchise of the character as a whole.

This movie had an excellent soundtrack all around, honestly. In addition to Seal, it had songs from U2, The Offspring, The Flaming Lips, Brandy, Method Man, Nick Cave, Michael Hutchence of INXS, and more. It's a shame the movie was such a turd.

I like to imagine Batman was called in as a witness for the trial. So he's just sitting there in the courthouse in full costume, and no one bothers to question it because at this point Gotham is full of nothing but crazy people.

I always find it funny in Batman movies that he doesn’t believe in killing people yet he does things that would kill a normal human being or he doesn’t believe in using guns yet he drives a car with a machine gun on it.
That’s the irony of the character. There’s an extremely fine line between beating a person unconscious and beating them hard enough they die on the spot or later in the hospital and Batman definitely crosses that line a lot probably without consciously realizing it
In the old school comics (pre1950s) he didn't have an issue with killing people, nor using guns. They were not his favored tool nor did he revel in killing people (except that one case with a bunch of japanese soldiers) it was just a fact of the job. But once the story started adopting more costumed villians instead of organized criminals, and with the new censorship and direction DC and the industry was going. They rewrote the character into a more zany saturday morning cartoon easy to merchandize figure. It was at this time most fans and writers just accepted as a tennant of the bat that he doesn't kill and doesn't use guns.

Watching the older Pitch Meetings i realized how much i love what you've done with the characters. Just making them completely devoid of any emotions other than psychotic joy and delight is one of the funniest elements of these videos!
This is an unpopular opinion, but I actually enjoy the older ones where they weren't completely devoid of normal emotions.

Well pitch meetings are great but being part of screen rant means that they can literally put whatever nonsense without much fact checking, I'd look more into any of the stuff at the end.
That's not morals. There is nothing immoral about starring in this film. It was just a matter of taste.
Jodie Foster turned down millions of Dollars to appear in the sequel of Silence of the Lambs because it called for her character to be seduced by Hannibal Lecter. She said "Clarrise wouldn't do that".
She respected the character more than the author did.

I agree with you too because the director of Batman Forever, Joel Schumacher inspiration for putting nipples on the Batman suit was recently going to a museum and looking at Ancient Greek statues and said since statues have nipples, the Batman suit should also have nipples
Batman Forever still has a lot of Gothic imagery though, and the music score is way more Gothic than Danny Elfman's. It's more that the cinematography is much brighter compared to Burton's movies.
Gotham in the first two movies just looked like NYC. Gotham in Forever looks like a unique city
The fact that Michael Keaton, who played Batman in the first two films and was offered 15 million to play him again. Turned it down because he didn’t care about the script or the new direction. Probably one of the smartest decisions of his career.

There would have to be at least two beats ~ first being the absurd idea to cram a whole season into 90 minutes. Secondly, Writer/Producer Ryans go back and forth on the pronunciation of Aang and Ahng.

Joker (2019) with Batman Forever logic - Someone yawns during Arthur Fleck's stand up comedy performance. He goes mad and then instantly becomes The Joker.

Nicole Kidman is one of only two white women I think is truly beautiful in every way. Inside and outside. I sometimes think the word "ethereal" was created just to describe her. And she is just as amazing today as she was then. And WOW is she a phenomenal actress! Mad respect for her.

I agree with you. I was also watching older pitch meetings and it threw me off when he'd say, "Barely an inconvenience" at the beginning, or when he doesn't say "Actually" right before that. I always say it with him like some kind of parrot. 😅
