Not spoilers from the main story: Itsuzumi’s spell on her neck was casted when she was a kid for keep trying to escape Shuro’s household. Shuro got one as well when he was younger, but his was only there to scare him to not wander into the woods and lose his way back home, therefore the knife can’t kill him like Itsuzumi’s. Also, they were both super traumatized by it.

Fallin being a doll in Marcille dream, while the real Fallin is manipulated by the dark mage is both clever and effective imo.

I mean it's not a new idea or anything. But it is interesting how both series take different approaches to it. Frieren is regret while DMesh is fear.
There's definitely a bunch of fanservice/sexy shots for everyone, just not as overt as usual because they're not the typical boobs-in-your-face clothes-getting-ripped stuff. We love equality

That this dungeon allows for resurrection is not just an outlier, but a godsend for someone opposing natural death.

Dude. I love, love your Dungeon Meshi videos so much. It’s clear as daylight that you love this series and care abt the characters, and your commentaries & analysis are always very insightful, plus really entertaining to watch. And I had a blast rewatching the doppelgänger ep with you man (okay not gonna lie, it took me a minute to adjust because you were straying a bit too far, but still) because it just showed how much you’re committed to this show. So who cares if your theories are right or wrong? Ppl harping on about the right way to analyze the anime or those half-spoiling the show by saying ooh you gotta x y & z just ‘cause they’ve read the manga should know better and keep their traps shut. Because I know that their only accomplishment is that they started reading the original manga from start to finish once they realized this anime series was gonna be good. Anyways, you do you! Keep being awesome.

seconding all of this! i get that people are excited about this story but i feel it's best to hold onto spoilers, even if you're being coy about it. it's really alienating as an anime watcher and tbh spite at that is why i'm always an anime-only. i'm loving bluest's reactions so much, this is the kind of analytical and loving fan this series was written for!

That's ALL the anime too. The only painting in the manga was the first Momcille one. It's the benefit of an adaptation coming only when the story is over, they go greater context for what lies ahead and can use it to hint at it.

i had a lucid dream Once
I was in some room and wanted to create doors with my will.
What I ended up doing was bashing my head to the wall and asking myself: Why are no doors appearing???
The interesting thing however is that I still remember that dream very well (usually i forget what i was dreaming of after some time).
I think Senshi got the wine from the same place as the soy sauce and the ration pellet - Shuro's party probably shared resources with Laios's.
I've gotten really good at getting into a lucid state. But I can't seem to shape my dreams the way I want. On the contrary, the things that I have no problem manifesting are the scary stuff. Just one thought of a demon or ghost and they appear right before me. When I'm lucid, I have to always force myself not to think negatively, because that seems to be my default.
I'm a naturally skeptical person. But lucidity comes easily to me. And that's when I started to try for astral projection, which is the next step. I have only ever managed one successful astral travel. I tried two other times, but I get so distracted during my lucid state. At this point, I'm too worried other things might come for my body once I "leave" it.
Damn, I wish I could lucid dream its sounds cool lol
Ever since the "Super Laios 64" and "Barking Laios" incident, I can't help but try to dig even just small details into my mind in case it becomes relevant later on in this series. Seeing the latter half of the episode just as "Marcille overcoming some trauma" with that sus book just ain't right.

This series is so good and just keeps getting better. Meshi and Frieren are both probably not among just my top fantasy series but all-time top anime/manga ever.

3:06 You forget the bath scene. But given how good Dungeon Meshi is, despite my ever growing hate for fanservice, I'll let it slide just this once. It helps that it can be attributed to showing just *how close* Falin and Marcille really may have been, and not just in a friendly way, i theorize.
Bath scenes is fairly common in anime. It's actually pretty tame for a fanservice as it doesn't even involved groping each other. imagine the shippers, gushing over them touching each other's hands in a bath, drowning themselves over their own fluids if Falin and Marcille did have an actual bath fanservice and went into the boob territory.
But if it's fanservice, instead of that one short bath scene, we have senshi panty shots every 5 minutes. We're following Laois point of view, and he must be staring at his ass the whole time! Why no one shipping them?

@@belldrop7365hmm, I really think it was portrayed way better in the manga, the bath theme, less sexy and more intimate. Although I do ship them, it's more from the extras Kui made for these two and how Laios envisions their future in one later episode, which seems to be implying a possibility. Shipping people romantically with anyone is a free choice, still, I strongly believe we should prioritize the platonic bounds in Dungeon Meshi, so tired of people trying to convince me why “Laios/Falin MUST be in love with Marcille how else would he care so much for her happiness.”,,,, BECAUSE, IDK, PEOPLE CAN LOVE WITHOUT WANTING TO BONE?!

marcille is my favorite character, and this episode is so so heartbreaking - i can't not tear up every time i watch it, it's definitely my favorite of the series. the tragedy of her having a longer lifespan than the others (laios and chilchuck will probably only live to their 60s, and that's if chilchuck's lucky - even senshi, who's long-lived, will still probably die before her as elves live the longest) and being faced with her friends' mortality makes rewatching earlier scenes REALLY heartbreaking. sure, death is reversible in the dungeon, but marcille is always uniquely horrified when her friends are in danger, and you can really understand why.
(see the mimic episode, how she's freaking out the most about chilchuck and blaming herself for when he went off alone, when he's just unconscious - also that one scene of her worrying about not being able to hear laios' heartbeat, and how scared she is when laios and senshi are fighting the kelpie in _that_ episode...)
you're the first youtuber i've seen catch onto not only the death fear but specifically the lifespan fear, it's so so heartbreaking. your analysis is always top notch and watching you experience this series is always a treasure. i feel like it's made for you :] i can also tell through your thumbnail choices marcille's your favorite too lol, awesome taste
