I'm already loving the new group dynamic having Izutsumi along for the ride

Fun fact: The dungeon meshi one shot originally had izutsumi as already part of the squad at the very beginning so her dynamic with the group has since been planned and thought about thoroughly seems like~!

Barometz is a real-life legend. It is believed to be inspired by cotton, when Ancient Greeks encountered cotton and similar plants for the first time, they compared it to wool from a sheep. This observation became distorted over time until some people in the Middle Ages really thought there were plants that grew sheep as fruit in places like India. There were even expeditions to look for it and everything. This was also during the same time in history where people believed Narwhal tusks were unicorn horns, so this is not a particularly strange behavior.

Having Chilchuck be the only one to not get scratched because he was the only one to not start petting her is such a callback, party members who get their personal spaces intruded on for being too darn cute solidarity

8:06 yeah after so many anime where everyone has superhuman strength and agility that we take it for granted, it's refreshing to see something more grounded and realistic

I love this episode and I have to share why. When I was little, my mom got me a children's bestiary which I still have to this day. In it, it contained the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary- a creature not seen that much in popular culture. The Vegetable Lamb was my favorite creature in that bestiary and I'm glad to see it represented in the media!

5:58 Honestly, considering that Laios was aware that Falin could see and interact with ghosts/spirits, it’s a _bit_ odd that he insists they’re hallucinations when it’s himself seeing them. It’s probably due to having only started seeing them the first time he got mana sickness, and then not really bringing it up after Shuro’s party interrupted him talking about it.

Could be kinda an ASD thing. Like not burdening others with problems that you just assume are abnormal or strange cuz everyone else doesn’t have those issues, and you have to figure it out yourself. At the very least I’m so used to just dismissing my problems caused by ASD cus other ppl don’t know how to help or want to help.
I find it interesting one of the show’s bigger themes seem to be helping one another, cuz that would imply actually helping and accommodating ASD ppl, and some ppl don’t like that.

Bahrometz, as stated in this episode, resembles balut: A Filipino delicacy which is an unhatched duck egg (Yes, it includes the fully-formed duck embryo) and it's being sold as a street food every night. Also best eaten (Again, including the duck embryo) with salt and spicy vinegar and to be washed down by an ice cold beer.

In the harpies' fight, every ninja girl was moving the same as Izutsumi. The show might be low-magic, but it's not zero-fantasy. Dwarves are stronger than humans, halflings see and hear better than humans and ninjas are full-on DEX builds.

(NOT spoiler) The leg-cutting thing: no, it’s just a racist tale popular among tallmen.
They are named by elves because they found their footprints were almost half the size of elves’. Chilchuck doesn’t like the word “half foot”, and complained about the elven and tallmen centric languages. But he sticks to it because it's easier to be understood and the word “human” in his native language sounds too close to a swear word in common tongue.

Half-foots are immigrants in this area and the ones who moved out of their homeland tend to be more ambitious individuals like Chilchuck, however, half foot are viewed as kids or vulnerable to other races, and it’s hard for them to get respected and treated equally, some halflings resorted to con arts or stealing because of the poverty, hence the thief stereotype.
It also mirrors real life where immigrants tend to be seen as “job stealer”, tallmen and dwarf view them as money hungry opportunists.

I think the Barometz Balut reference came from the exotic but widely popular delicacy in the Philippines called Balut (or boiled fertilized duck egg) where you basically eat the developed duck fetus (or in the show's case, the lamb fetus) along with the other contents of the egg (which the show also did here). It's an acquired taste for sure, but once you do it's actually tasty. Goes well with beer, too!

well, i edited it, some people like the memes and jokes in other vids, but some people don't, i try to keep it balanced, so only a few times per video, i promise it won't become FULL of memes :) like i would usually just completely cut when he drinks, but i saw an opportunity for a small joke instead lol.
