The pea hen is really such a pity. It must be such a pleasure to volunteer with such gorgeous scenery.
I’m so happy we have such wonderful volunteers here! They make every day a joy. Yes, it was such a shame about the peahen, she had been making good progress, but suddenly relapsed. But I think it’s better that she’s not suffering.

How sad to see Isabella and Percy leave, but how wonderful they are going on Honeymoon ! Gerald his humour is hilarious ! Barbecue no wonder the ram runs away ! He was hoping for Plum Crumble and custard , did he get plums and figs with Creme Fraiche I wonder.
Waiting to see the return of Michael Petherick, he is such a talented boy, Lynn looks like fun and another great volunteer.
Lalande embraces people and so does Stephanie.
He did get plums with crème fraîche, indeed! They were delicious 😋 And I’ve already managed to interrupt Mummy and Percy’s honeymoon - they’ve just popped back for a mini break at Lalande! I suspect my mother wanted to check on the laundry 😉
Hi Stephanie I live in northern Idaho and I wanted you to know that the trampling in the grass was deer. I live in the beautiful countryside and that is a common occurrence in my yard. They like to bed down in groups at night. I love your chateau and enjoy your videos. You and your family are charming.
Poor Pea-Hen,she really tried but lost the battle in the end,im sure she knew she was well looked after and loved. Scott man and I share the same dance of freedom except I use to do my dance on the kids 1st day back at school after the summer holidays :-)

So sorry to hear about the sweet little Peahen... your mummy's sadness made me very teary! Will this be the longest period of time that your mummy and Percy have been away from Lalande? Nice for them to have a wee honeymoon but no doubt you will miss her - she really is such a character! Gerald really is a fabulous and funny man - how wonderful to have such a delightfully adorable brother. :)
Gerry is soooo funny, he has us all in stitches all the time. Mummy and Percy only spend about three months per year with me - the rest of the time they’re in England or South Africa. But they’re popping back next week so hopefully this winter they’ll come for lots of little mini breaks!
Hilarious ! I love a Gerald episode, naughty siblings, nothing funnier. Only your Mother’s terms of endearment include “ it’s been infuurriating” classic. So very very sorry about your peahen. I cried buckets when my hens died. Such lovely creatures. I have many laundry issues too ! I let 5 bedrooms and use The White Company bedlinen and towels. Fake tanning cream is my nemesis !! I bought one of those 4.5 kg toblerones and now have huge respect for David’s carving skills, mine just shattered. Am going to buy that Lillet ! The tiara totally suits you Mlle Chatelaine. Thanks for the joy and the inspiration xxxx
I love The White Company! I bought a lot of their bedlinen and duvets when I moved to Lalande 14 years ago, and they’ve really stood the test of time!

Thank you so much. We were crushed, especially my mother, who’d been giving her physio therapy every day. And her legs were showing signs of improvement, so it was doubly disappointing. But at least she’s not suffering now. And she had a very happy, completely free life here 💛

I think the other female was missing her very much when she was paralysed, she kept trying to make her stand up. But she seems to have accepted her disappearance.

I was so sorry to have to break that news to you all. But I thought it was only right to share the downs as well as the ups, or I’d be giving a false impression of life here. Poor Mummy was so upset, i had to turn the camera off. But I know the peahen had a wonderful life ❤️
The Chateau Diaries I just feel sad for you all! I wanted her to do well but I understand about her kidneys as I have had to my kidney transplant but in animals that’s not possible! Maybe one of the rooms you haven’t done yet could be the peahen room 🦚

Those two trees and whatever else is growing in the lake bed are great for transplanting elsewhere that you want or need maturing trees. Have you ever sat around a table with your visiting volunteers and brainstormed about what you want long term? You have a lot of volunteer (self planted) trees but if you were Capability Brown, what would you want for the next 50-100 years? Have you picked out the best spots to view the landscape from afar, and what state are those trees in? It's the sort of thing that needs meditating on for awhile and is fun to think about for anyone out hiking the premises.
Some episodes, Lalande is like a sitcom...😄
So sorry to hear about the peahen; I know from experience - a sick bird so often doesn't make it. I'm wondering if the tramped down area at the ex-lake may be where deer are sleeping at night. And I have it in my head that you gather eggs in the morning wearing you new tiara - looking somewhere between a Russian princess & Marie Antoinette.

I've been binge-watching while recovering from getting covid right before this Christmas (2021), and the pure joie de vivre of life at Lalande has made mandatory isolation go faster.Watching these 2019 vlogs with people leaving and promising to see other again....when the world didn't know what was coming. I hope that all of these lovely, fun, talented people are able to come back and visit, that all of them are alive! , and that Mummy and Percy survived it. Sorry your peahen didn't make it, but she certainly had loving care.Also, what is the name of the ginger cat we see in several vlogs?

Bilodeauart Gerald is Stephanie’s brother. However they are not related by blood. Gerald’s been living with Stephanie’s parents before she was born. So he has always been her brother

From what I’ve read in the comments, Gerald is her brother, but not her blood brother. Apparently he was living with Stephanie’s parents long before she was born, so, technically they are siblings, because they were raised as brother and sister. After all, It’s not the blood flowing through one’s veins that makes people a part of a family, it’s love.❤️
