Why buy seiko anymore, unless you have tons of money. There's a lot of micro brands that makes good quality watches for a fraction of the price. I got my 6105 Oceanica Reef for $199 and loving it

@@TheWatcherReviews The only reason I don't buy second hand Seiko divers is because of how much people mod them. I've even sold SKXs that I've had modded, and then returned to stock. Those have been done by a watchmaker and I've disclosed it in the auctions, but I'd bet there are people out there buying amateurely wrenched on watches without knowing it. Especially since they're worth so much now.

Just get a “Seiko” watch on Wish if you want a “deal.” But you are right about people who buy Seikos having more money. But it’s pittance compared to people who buy from the big three or Rolex where the name means just about everything.

Heimdallr is clearly the better choice. Lets be honest here Seiko should had done this and should’ve been the “ New SKX” ! That’s what should had happen! Instead they went the other way and cut corners so now you have new SKX Seiko 5 that honestly I have zero interests in ! I haven 3 Heimdallr SLA017 , SLA024 and the first version of the Heimdallr SKX in Green ! Love all 3 of them

I agree 100% but Heimdallr only exists because of Seiko. Seiko are more corporate with a global presence and invest in marketing etc. Similar to the European car market, optional extras etc.
Heimdallr is small but brings excellent value to the end user. Heimdallr is the better watch $ for $

It's like Rolex withholding guarantees from customers, it's just not on! If Rolex sell their watch at a certain price that should be it, it's nothing to do with Rolex what happens to their watches after that.
If someone smashes a Rolex, Rolex don't then say thats our watch we will repair it for free, or that's our watch we will service it for free. It's kind of similar with Seiko, if people still buy Rolex's without guarantees and people still buy inferior Seiko's for grossly inflated prices then these company's will keep ripping us off!
Vote with your dollar and buy good value watches like Heimdallr, San Martin, Steeldive etc.

I agree with you. Seiko took out skx and gave seiko fans a 5kx which is a watered version of skx, except to a 4r36 movement, an upgrade from 7s26. However, depth rating from 200M to a 100M is unacceptable, and various colors like street fighter stuffs made me think about Invictas-suck and their flame fusion is suckers. These microbrand watches know the niche needs of a consumers. I just got my capt willard steeldive watch and i am so impressed about the quality and specs of this watch. Even a seasoned classic vintage seiko/bulova collector is also impressed with the quality of the watch.

The Heimdallr was £136, and a new Seiko SKX is about £350. From what I gather nowadays you can make one "original" SKX like yours fairly easily. Unless there is that kanagawa back on withh all the serial numbers and the original movement matching, I consider all "original" skx as good as a bunch of aftermarket parts put together. An original OEM skx dial in a seiko package, sealed can be found for around £20 quid, original hands at about 25quid... even original 7s26 movements can be found easily and cheaply, as most people though "upgrade!" The back with the kanagawa, with all the serial numbers thats another story... by the way, the sides of the case directly at 9 and 3 on the original skx with the original bezel can be seen fairly easily when looked dead straight, as the original case curves wider. On the aftermarkets one you can barely see the sides, its all hiding behind the bezel. Aftermarket cases have less metal there.

So the Seiko was stated to be bought unmodded. Then it's stated that the Seiko was bought modded with a new glass, new movement and what appears to be a new clasp. Then he states he modded the Seiko after purchase to change the second hand. Then he goes into a diatribe about how over modded Seiko SKX with a new movement are no longer SKXs. Then he says despite this that the treble modded Seiko in hand is a true SKX. Then he wants to compare it with a Heimdaller SKX homage. Yeah this makes sense, quite rational. What then is the point of the comparison? At what point did logic flee from this verbal perambulation?
