Sean as someone who dropped 27 kilos and has kept it off for 15 years. My advice is to make a lifestyle change, not diet change. Cut our morning and afternoon tea and only eat when you’re hungry. I no longer eat lunch, only breaky and dinner. I do yoga which has helped immensely with back and neck pain and go for daily walks. Good luck!

I absolutely agree, a cup of tea and a biscuit with a friend should be enjoyed and not feel like a dieting failure. Keeping the day to day healthy is key, eat when hungry. Congratulations on maintaining weight loss all these years 😊

I lost 40 pounds so far. I’m diabetic and it was out of control. I just changed eating habits. I try and keep to a low carb diet.I eat when I’m hungry, usually breakfast and supper. And a snack in the evening. My diabetes is under control,in fact my A1c is 5.7. My blood pressure is low again. It didn’t happen overnight. My Dr advised a loss of two or three pounds a week. Some weeks there was no change,I just trudged along. You can do it! And you have a great area to walk in.

Hi Sean, I found that completely cutting out bread, potatoes, pasta and rice, avoiding anything ‘low fat’ (usually full of sugar) and basically eating as I did as a child, full-fat everything! - fat melted off and lost a stone in 4 weeks. Couldn’t believe it, at one point it was 1lb a day. Husband was the same. It wasn’t a long term thing but certainly helped me kickstart weight loss and re-educate myself, now cooking from scratch mainly now and avoiding starchy carbs. Appreciate it may not be for everyone but hope it helps.

Weight loss doing low carb or Keto, whichever is more sustainable for your personal needs. It reversed my Type 2 Diabetes & have lost a significant amount of weight. It's a lifestyle, not a diet, whch is the best way for me to keep it going. Severely restricted diets set one up for failure. This is what worked for me & countless others. Whatever you do, I wish you every success 🌷

The main aid to losing weight is to cut out processed foods, full of hidden sugar. I have taken to carnivore one meal a day naturally having progressed through vegetarian, keto, with fish and to full carnivore. My OH is still vegetarian with carbs, but we get along! He is now making his own bread but still has a weakness for biscuits and egg custard tarts!

In my experience gas is far cheaper than electric, we have an electric fire with a living flame, we only use the fire for the living flame to add a bit of atmosphere in the lounge. For hot water and heating we use the central heating via a Combi boiler controlled via the hive. If you want to save money on electric for cooking invest in an air fryer.
My breakfast consists of two large shredded wheat, table spoon of sugar and semi skimmed milk, plus mug of tea (Yorkshire). Lunch is a sandwich of buttered Nimble Danish malted bread, choice of fillings ham, chicken, beef, egg, cheese plus sliced tomato or cucumber and salad cream spread, or banana sandwich, packet plain crisps plus mug of tea. Mid afternoon mug of tea plus cake of some sort. Then in the evening home cooked dinner, normally consisting of meat & two or three veg, some times roasted plus another mug of tea. Before bed couple of slices of toast plus final mug of tea. I am 84 in 3 days and my weight very rarely goes above 12 stone. Think you need to eat regularly but with portion control.

I would sugest taking the time to peel it off and the staples out too. Love your videos thanks.

Hi Sean, A trick I use to keep my weight in check is that I don’t eat off of dinner plates but on sandwich/salad size plates. This way I don’t overload on the portions and it fools my mind that I’m eating a “full” plate of food. For me, it is the quantity of food intake that I keep in mind. I also have a regiment of walking 2-3 miles everyday. On another note , I’m interested in knowing if where you live there is access to antique shops or second hand furniture stores. I find buying antiques and well made furniture is not only less expensive but it will last a life time. I was thinking a Welsh cupboard would be lovely for your living room area! BTW, I love the green chair! Have a wonderful day and give the fur babies a kiss for me!

You cut up a variety: potatoes, squash, beets, carrots, zucchini, etc. Meat of choice cut up , saute the meat first, toss veggies in olive oil and seasonings of choice add the meat and bake 35 min thereabouts at 400 F. Also turmeric milk at bedtime is supposed to provide health benefits as well. So many recipes on line. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦

Hi Sean, sicking out the tongue and moving it side to side in concentration was something my Dad used to do! I can picture in my mind him doing it whilst reversing the car out of the garage!! I too have 2 carousels of slides that we were thinking of sending away to be dealt with but your new device seems easy enough for us to master. Neither of us finds new technology easy to deal with and instruction manuals are a nightmare. Good luck with your healthy eating because at the end of the day it's not really a diet, it's how you should strive to eat all the time .

I think you're right Waitrose food is superior and some things therefore are a little more expensive, but I have found some things cheaper overall I think the quality is better and its the old adage you get what you pay for. The foods from any shop has sell by dates so if you're shopping weekly monthly some things should go straight into freezer otherwise you end up eating too much to get it used up and that makes your food expensive. I love air fryers and have saved a fortune not putting on the big oven for every little thing. When I do use the big oven I make sure its full. Two meals a day is enough something like brunch and dinner.

I cut carbs & processed foods out of my diet & within a few weeks noticed my headaches & joint pain & swelling had gone! I looked into "diets" & found what I was doing is basically the keto diet. But I also came across the carnivore diet. Everything about it is against what we've always been led to believe, but everyone that follows it says its lowered their BP & cholesterol, reversed type 2 diabetes, joint pain/swelling gone, IBS/stomach problems gone, depression/low mood gone etc. & they've all lost weight! I have IBS & suffer terribly, but I'm going to wean myself onto the carnivore diet & try it for a couple of months & see for myself. People have been on it for years & never been healthier. I've done a lot of research on it & just thought I'd mention it with you saying about your diabetes. I'm at the point with my stomach issues & joint pains etc that I'll try anything (within reason & sensibly researched) to help me just feel normal again. Hope the low/no carbs works for you too.

You seem to be an extrovert with meeting new people. That must help with all your new adventures. Take care. The sun has returned from under the clouds today. Makes everything seem a little warmer even if the thermometer doesn’t pay attention. ⛅️

It only takes stills from film because you need to manually feed the film through, so not really good enough for cine film.

You will be nice and cosy with your new chair, lovely warm fire and selection of books in your new bookcase. As regards losing weight you have to find diet thats suits you and is sustainable. Losing weight is all about mindset. I have lost 6st which has helped tremendously with my knees. I swim regularly and am able to go out for walks. I would be interested in a video of you reading. You have a very calming voice and as someone else commented perhaps you could read one of your books.

Like the viewer just said, serious weight loss might be fat burning (keto) with longer between meals (intermittent fasting). I managed by giving up sugar and limiting to one large potato and only one slice of bread, not eating until 11 am and finishing eating by 6 pm. Weight loss was slow but sustainable for me. I also take breaks from it so my metabolism never "panics". I sometimes have three meals. I go hungry sometimes (my body has to burn some fat then) but other times I will eat when hungry, and I switch that around a bit. Now I have stopped eating any bread but homemade bread with gluten and flax (based on a Heavenly Fan recipe but no almond and I use a loaf tin so it is square). I look at my tummy and if it seems particularly fat, I actually speak to it and explain that it needs to start feeding me with some of that fat reserve. Most of life seems to be in the mind. It is how you cope with a situation that seems to matter to me.

Have you heard of the carnivore diet? I did a lot of research last year & it goes against everything we've been told....."eat lean meats" "have a balanced diet" "don't eat fat" etc. Basically you eat meat, the fattier the better & including offal if you like it, fish, eggs & butter (some eat cheese but only like cheddar & no colourings etc) Everyone who's on the diet, some have been on it well over 10 years, all say its lowered BP & cholesterol, reversed type 2 diabetes, joint pain/swelling gone, IBS/stomach problems gone, lost weight etc. It mentions eating the right types of fat & including salt into your diet, obviously not huge amounts of salt, but we do need salt & good fats in our diet. I have IBS & need knee replacements plus other issues & I've cut carbs & processed foods out & already feel better for it. I'm going to wean myself onto the carnivore diet & try it & see what happens. I'm in that much pain etc I'll try anything withing reason & I love fruit & veg.....& food. I have found that not all fruit & veg & foods like me though & yet meat, fish & eggs have never bothered me or my IBS so think after a lot of research & doubting (because we are told meat is bad even though I haven't found any research on this apart from processed meats) I'm going to try it for a couple of months & see how I go. If I miss the fruit & veg I will reintroduce them one at a time so I can see if theres any affects from them. Only mentioned it so you can look into it if you wanted to.
Just to mention to theres never been any scientific or medical research done into diets. Havard put a statement out years ago that a balanced diet was the best & people followed it. They then said the Mediterranean diet was the best & because it was in the papers/news people followed it. I say do your own research & follow whats works & is best for you.

I find staying away from processed foods is helpful. I eat whatever I want but I rarely eat as much as I want. I’m getting close to retirement age so I gain and lose easier than I used to. My weight varies from being 4 lbs under to 4 lbs over my ideal weight. It helps me to have a target- then I know whether or not to eat more or less. After supper eating can be my downfall if my weight is a little too high. I can’t give up bread, potatoes, etc. I like everything so denying certain food groups does not work for me. I am an equal opportunity eater!

honestly, with your amazing voice, if you did a read aloud of a classic out of copyright eg a Thomas Hardy, or something more upbeat Four Men in a Boat etc, your audience might love it. Worth an experiement - I'm currently doing an audio of Shirley by Charlotte Bronte although I'm finding it hard going (not an easy read and the plot is SO slow !) - anyways your voice is very versitile. Alternatively, just sit reading in silence and your viewer will read quietly themselves and at least we've got some company - I'm planning to do that in the future... silent knitting and crochet -

Have fun converting your old slides and negatives to digital. I bought a similar device many years ago called a Wolverine F2D and it still works great and allowed me to convert old family slides and then I was able to edit them in software that was on my computer. I also bought a device two years ago called Elgato Video Capture (on Amazon it was only about $88) which converted my old VHS family movies to digital (but I still had the VHS player which is necessary, the player just wouldn't work on a modern TV but it worked perfectly with the laptop and this device, go figure). I'm in the US.

I love the idea of you reading old books in your cosy area, it sounds fabulous. One of my favourite old books is The Snowgoose. My Dad had the LP which was narrated by Spike Milligan, wonderful tale.
I was heading towards pre diabetes according to my nurse four years ago & she advised low carb. Under 80g a day. I cannot give up bread so I now buy both low carb bread seeded, bread rolls & 4 different kinds of pasta from a Welsh company called The Low Carb Co, delivered to my door every fortnight but you need a freezer to store the bread in & just get them out when you need them, my daughter had no idea the rolls were even low carb as they taste like normal bread. I stop eating at 7pm & re start at 10am. The thing I miss the most are potatoes but the only way to reduce the blood sugar spike is to cook them & put them in the fridge & eat them stone cold. 3 days a week I up my calories so my body doesn't think I am starving it, although I'm never hungry, I eat healthy fats as women my age need good fats like Avocado, oily fish etc I eat lots of veg everyday but rarely eat fruit now, just dried strawberries & blueberries from Arbuckles, they're not cheap but go really well in my homemade breakfast cereal. Every body is different & has its own needs. I laughed out loud when you had a really healthy breakfast & then tucked in to corned beef pasties. Now see if you bought a bag of low carb flour you could make your own healthy guilt free pasties😂 I lost two stone in two years & still have another 2 to lose🥴
Wishing you a lovely weekend Sean. Oh I can't wait to find out if your gadget works as I have literally thousands of slides here that I have ended up with from my father, grandfather & old uncles & I would love to digitise them. Annie 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
