    So, I was listening to Radio 2 this morning with hubby to the tribute for Steve Wight that sadly passed away this past week.
    I have to say having listened to his show since 1983 it was very tearful while listening… afterwards we turned off the radio hubby and I put on your channel Sean as whatever your up to it always brings smiles to our faces.
    Hubby put the kettle on and we settle down to watch chuckling how we share the same soap dispenser although ours is blue. And when you made a comment about us lots watching you wash up, we both said it’s lovely to just have a nice lighthearted show to watch.
    Not to sound miserable but, it’s a tough old world at times and your channel is like a safe place. It’s just you being you and us lot enjoying every second. Thank you for making our Sunday morning cheerful again.
    We both thought the pictures are very nice and look forward to seeing them up eventually.
    Have a super lovely Sunday Sean. Big gratefulness from us old farts over here in Lincolnshire 😊❤

    You seem to be absolutely at home now Sean, back in Wales. I can hardly believe how beautiful your valley is, where you don’t
    have to worry or pay for Parking, and walking in the mountains & forest is for free. You are living a very a modest life and it seems
    a good one, making friends & connections all over the place. London is another world away.

    Hi Sean! Writing to you on behalf of my mom who loves your videos. She thinks that rinsing the dishes after using dish soap eliminates chemicals from the soap. She insisted that I should write this to you. She loves that you share your everyday life with us. Life in Wales is so interesting and beautiful. We live in the sunny California.

    Dear Sean, I'm a doctor (though i treat mostly brain than liver). The link between fructose and fatty liver seems to have merit, but the sources of fructose tested were essentially fruit juices, soda, kool aid etc. There really isn't a recommendation to limit carrots and other fruits. That seems to be what people postulated based on these findings, but without any hard science behind it. Of course one may try empirical advice, but take it with several pinches of salt and maybe one of fructose 😅

    • @jartotable
      @jartotable Před 5 měsíci +1

      That's not true. There are enough studies concerning keto eating for a variety of illnesses and to glean benefits from the diet, for the illness you have, you always have to remain below a certain level of natural fructose. It's about staying in ketosis.

    • @walksthroughlife900
      @walksthroughlife900 Před 5 měsíci +6

      @@jartotable I was not talking about maintaining ketosis, and i dont think it was talked about in the video. Anyway, within the National Health Service here in the UK, maintaining ketosis is not recommended for anything else other than certain forms of intractable epilepsy.

    Cruciferous vegetables - along with cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and mustard greens - are good for your liver. They are a source of fiber, which supports liver health. Plus, they contain antioxidants and phytochemicals. But don't ignore vegetables grown underground. Many recipes to help with fatty liver include potatoes, carrots and parsnips as well as beetroot and potatoes. It's a case of not eating too much of one thing but enjoy different vegetables as you normally would.

  • @suburbanhomestead
    @suburbanhomestead Před 5 měsíci +4

    Sean, I don’t like to comment about personal matters like diet, etc, but since you have brought it up I would suggest you deeply research the topic on reputable sources like scientific meta analysis and peer reviewed studies such as in pubmed to better understand where the preponderance of evidence lays. Nutrition is complex. There are way too many blogs, CZcamsrs etc who share fad diets and lifestyle advice who are either conspiratorial of the actual evidence and/or are not scientifically rigorous with their advice. I say this because most reputable medical sources recommend a diet that is quite high in whole minimally processed plants and low in saturated fats like bacon, red meat, sausages and butter. Beans, lentils and peas prepared without much additional fats, and plenty of garlic, onion, herbs or spices are your friend for steatosis. Whole grain can be consumed in moderation. Low starch vegetables are your friends. But don’t cook them with butter. Don’t be afraid of tubers too much. Don’t be afraid of roots like carrots and parsnips. Oil should be minimized. Olive oil is preferred. It is better to eat low sugar fruits, but don’t be afraid of whole apples, bananas and other sugary ones, just eat the low sugar ones more. If you must eat animal products chose lean fish in moderation, and by moderation I mean once or twice a week at most. Now what needs to be avoided 100% is sugar, sweets etc, juices especially with sugar added, alcohol, beer, wine etc fried foods, bacon, processed meats and butter. If you must eat dairy, opt for low fat unsweetened yogurt. Since losing weight is what causes reversal of fatty liver, the meat heavy low carb diets can show fast results but if you look into the long term studies you will see those diets are associated with increase in all cause mortality. If you change your diet, you can do it gradually so your gut microbiome adapts, so it is always best to introduce new foods gradually. Consistency is key. But above all don’t just take my advice or the advice of all the noise from the internet, search for the scientific studies and read and understand the science behind it. It is your health and your life and the world deserves to see you maximize that so you can share your positive outlook to the world for as long as possible. Take care my friend!

    A TV license? I've never heard of that. Interesting. My husband and I haven't had a TV for years. We have CZcams for entertainment and apps for weather forecasts. I enjoyed listening to you chat while doing your dishes. I have a similar set up with a single sink. I tend to put silverware in a bowl or pan with soapy water. And I rinse after washing with soap. We use Dawn detergent for washing hands and doing dishes. Also we don't have an oven, toaster, or microwave. We have a toaster oven, hot plate and electric kettle. I love my tea as well! You're new artwork is great. I'm looking forward to going to the museum. Thank you for taking us along.

    Hi Sean, portion control is key. Smaller plate or pasta bowl ideal. Half salad or half veg in your meals. Veg that grow above that ground, unlimited. Veg in the have more sugars in them when cooked. You can have them, just in moderation it now & again. Meat, butter fine. Just a tablespoon of rice or pasta in a meal. The carbs in them are too much otherwise. Potatoes only one - two in a meal. Not all the time either. Home made soup is good, ie white bean soup, recipes on line. Keep potatoes and bread intake down. It’s a low carb eating, getting weight off your knees. Side benefit your fatty liver count will come down and eventually reverse. Also keep off suars. Up to you, but easy guide to follow without too bother.😊

    Thanks for another great, down to earth video. I have a washing up bowl and use it on occasion (mainly for cleaning) but not all the time. Loving the green washing liquids since Greenscents sent me a free bottle to try and my dermatitis went away. I had suffered for years. Also better for the planet. A little less lather but pain free hands! I am from London and everything is smaller. Our kitchen is about as small as yours. We have a rule of only 5 things out on the surface and we can decide between us what that can be. E.g. Toaster (Ninja oven really, flipped up), cutting board, electric can opener, fruit bowl and a soft thick mat for drying glassware, in the corner, and the flask sits there in the very corner draining, after a "good" weekend. 😉 Asda is an acquired taste. We tried many times to leave. But I am now an Asda girl through and through. Grew up with them you see (them and M&S, but cannot afford them much, and shop online for huge bags of nuts, flours, healthy oils and other products for cooking without sugar (yes we do this too, and make low carb bread with flax)). Pictures are lovely. Wonder if you might try your hand at drawing or painting the mountains? Bird seed is great. Watching the greedy buggers takes you out of yourself. Cat TV too. I think you will love growing a few things in your garden I think. And yes, a day off for you is well deserved. Enjoy your Sunday.

    Hi Sean. My daughter has those very same scouring pads as you, and I find them pretty effective; plus as you say they go into the compost when we're done with them. If you don't like the label string on your liquid soap bottle, why not have a look in the charity shops and see if you can find a little necklace chain, bracelet or other piece of junk jewellery that you can repurpose to look nice holding the label. You'd just need a pair of little pliers to make that happen. Great stuff as ever, I love watching other people wash up!

    Vegetable under the ground don’t have fructose in them. Please do more research, it is only processed foods and drinks with high fructose syrup and sugar in them that are the problem with fatty liver disease. Fruit is healthy and good to eat. You do not have to give up healthy root vegetables! Take care!

      I love this channel and watch all the videos (especially lately) but I despair of the nutritional advice Sean is being given sometimes. Root vegetables are HEALTHY. Yes, for NAFLD, too. Gah. And yes, more research. Like on Pubmed, not from cranks on the internet. Look up the studies on fatty liver and diet, because not a single one of them shows vegetables (including root vegetables) as bad. As you say it's processed foods, too much refined sugar, refined carbs (white flour etc.) and saturated fat in excess, as well as plain old too many calories per day, that cause fatty liver. It is sooooo not carrots and parsnips. It's not even potatoes, which so many people think are the devil. Anyway this sounds like I'm arguing but actually I agree with everything you said! 🤣

      Fruits have Fructose. Some veggies are more starchy than others. The root veggies in particular. This is about carbohydrate load. If you’re doing keto with rigor you will eliminate them until you reach your goals. But if you only want a healthier, more balanced lower carb diet, just reduce the amount. Less on the plate, less often, not gone. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. These veggies have nutrients but others do as well. Get calories and satiety from other things, other veggies and salads. Some root veggies can be reintroduced later, in sensible amounts, when the metabolism is healthier.

    Sean, I have one of those greenhouse kits! I was bought it for Christmas, not the one just passed but the year before - and the box is still behind the sofa as it looked quite daunting with all the packets inside! Perhaps when you start yours, it will motivate me to get started on mine! Love your videos - it's like visiting a friend. X

    Hello Sean, if you like grapefruit, you could start the morning with a half a grapefruit and if you don't like grapefruit then a glass of warm water with a good squeeze of lemon…. This is a good way to start a fat burn for the day… All the supermodels used to swear by it! 😁 Also you could make some pumpkin soup or cauliflower and broccoli….. Cheap, simple to make soups which are healthy, nutritious and delicious…. especially when devoured with a chunk of homemade crusty bread… 😋 I'm off now to clean my own dishes having found the inspiration after watching you do yours 😉Have a lovely rest of the weekend…🤗💖💐

    Another lovely video thank you Sean for relaxing us all when we're all a bit stressed out.
    Re the kitchen, it might be worth taking everything out and starting again, or draw a plan while you have a cup of tea and see what's the best fit for you? I'd probably put the microwave where the steamer is and put the steamer on top of it to free the draining board.
    But after only being in your lovely new home for a few weeks it's been a massive upheaval and your thoughts and memories need to catch up with themselves. Be kind to yourself and don't worry if you're a bit foggy or forgetful right now, it's only natural. 😊
    Random thought - I'm going to play your video again - this time on my headphones - while I do my own washing up 😂

      Jane just throw the letters straight in the bin without opening. They try to scare you into buying a licence even if you dont need one. And many people do. Its very unlikely that they will come around but if they do simply tell them that you dont need a licence and close the door on them.

    A piece of shelving wood 14" X about 6 feet (full width of kitchen), you could rest it across the counter tops, underneath the electrical socket so you have all your plug-in stuff right there. Garbage bag hanging underneath. The weight of the items will keep it steady, hooks along front edge for Cup, strainer, etc.
