Great video. By the way, you mentioned that Louis Armstrong may have never set foot on the park grounds. The park grounds were actually built on a portion of Storyville which he spent a lot of time in.
I love your tours. Also love the way that you change your appearance
I didnt know that people that came down for relief coming back was a huge thing. Thats me! We housed a dog and his poppa for about teo years and ive been back to NOLA every year since. The dog and his human have become like family. I say its my lotus story. Somthing so good and beautiful came out of something so dark and horrible.
Excellent tour, and musically serious text without wishful thinking one can hear in many videos about the history of jazz. Thank you!
Glad that you enjoyed the video. If you haven't already done so, hopefully, you can check out our other virtual tours of New Orleans czcams.com/play/PLpNEdLF6RWV3oDPK7SD9GOttlhvaGBsh2.html.There is more where this came from.
Love watching. Brings back so many memories. Great job. I’ve learned so much

Love your tours. You are very good. I’ve watched a lot of your videos.
Thank you, David. We appreciate the feedback.
Hello Andrew...Charles Joseph "Buddy" Bolden (September 6, 1877 - November 4, 1931) was an African American cornetist who was regarded by contemporaries as a key figure in the development of a New Orleans style of ragtime music, or "jass," which later came to be known as "Jazz Music." Louis Armstrong came later ( (August 4, 1901 - July 6, 1971) Bolden is rightfully known as 'The Father Of Jazz.'
Really liked the flow of this tour and the pace of the history shared. I am watching Burn's Jazz Music series on KPBS and that led me to this video. ..The question I was looking to get answered, How did jazz music begin and what came before it?, was answered by this video. Thanks, I will def keep watching more of your tours!
I love your tours Andrew. I can't wait to take one when I move there next year.
Thanks for watching our video Mike. We will be happy to show you around New Orleans when you get here.
I really enjoy the way you do the videos Andrew :) Two of my favorite musicians from New Orleans are the late(wonderful) Roger Ridley(Playing for Change 's first artist I believe) and the amazing Gramdpa Elliot Small who were street musicians . Gramdpa Elliot went on to join "Playing For Change" which sought to bring music to young people around the world :)
Thank you Mary-Anne! Love the shout-out to Playing for Change - anyone who loves or misses street music should definitely look for Grandpa Elliott on their website (or on this website!). They've featured a lot of New Orleans talent in 2020, too, which has been a help in the absence of live shows.
@@andrewfarrier1937 Yes I saw a few of the live video shows done by different members of PFC :)
Thank you. very cultural. Love it. All the Best
Andrew-I enjoyed this one. As a (semi-pro) musician, I'm always glad to see stories of New Orleans' musical history. One suggestion: When you get the chance, I would urge you to check out the Monday Night Blues Jam at D Macs Bar and Grille, on Jeff Davis at Tulane ave. It's been in existence for 7-8 years now, and has gained a national reputation among blues/rock/R&B/other musicians. The food is good and the drinks are strong also!
Great info, thanks! Any similar recommendations for a Tuesday night?
Wow, amazing. Same same question, for a tuesday, and a Wednesday! In pursuit of the Blues
Excelente!!! Felicitaciones!!

Fabulous tour thank you
Our pleasure!
I love these tours, I was just in NOLA early May and I am coming back again late June. Is there a way one can join you on one of your tour videos? That would be awesome!
Hi from New Zealand!🇳🇿What about The Neville Brothers!?🎷
I’ve just discovered your videos! I’m playing catch-up! Thinking of coming to New Orleans between Thanksgiving and Christmas can you give me your opinion if that’s a good time of year to visit? Thank you.
Hi Todd. Yes. It's a great time to visit. Other than the holiday dates themselves, New Orleans is relatively less crowded than usual with good weather.
I have a few posts for you to browse.

How do we get a guided tour for a group of high school Jazz Band kids?
We are glad you enjoyed the video Laurie. We will be happy to show you around New Orleans and you can browse our tour selection here freetoursbyfoot.com/new-orleans-tours.

I see preservation hall is back open. As of today the latest dates open/on the calendar are in late February. When is a good time to check on availability? Is it generally 2 months ahead of time?
Also what is the attitude toward covid measures. I see the rules in black and white but how they are “enforced” is a different matter. Are people more laid back about the rules or militant. And not implying anyone should not follow the rules but if my type 1 diabetic family member needs to take his mask off in doors to eat a snack in order to bring up his blood sugar I really don’t want to be forced to deal with crazy covid nazi’s.
ET PAS UNE SEULE NOTE DE JAZZ à LA NOUVELLE ORLEANS ? Il fallait le faire! C'est nul !
