For most people, Treme is the name of an HBO show about this very neighborhood with the Treme Brass Band performing "I Feel Like Funking It Up". And there are very good reasons they chose this area for the show.
The significance of such a community growing against America’s tumultuous background has created an area known for its famous jazz funerals, Mardi Gras Festivities, and historical sites.

I look so forward to visiting New Orleans with my husband in a couple of weeks. Do you still do the tours and how do I go about reserving a spot on your tours? Thank you so much.
I love that you don't pull punches & or gloss over the negative aspects of history. So important.
Thank you for that.
Robi is a magical being. His grandmother lives and speaks forever through him. He makes me smile and laugh. I love how he so willingly shares everything about himself to teach his heritage. Thank you!!! xoxo
Agreed!
Robi needs his own account! Next time I’m in New Orleans I’m signing up for his tour! His perspective is exactly what I wanted on the tour I did this summer… and didn’t get.
I love it when history is talked about, as it actually happened, and no one is offended about it. History should always be shared and talked about.
Glad that you enjoyed the video. If you haven't already done so, hopefully, you can check out our other virtual tours of New Orleans czcams.com/play/PLpNEdLF6RWV3oDPK7SD9GOttlhvaGBsh2.html.There is more where this came from.
I love, love love when you two do videos together, it's so entertaining....I would like to see you both talk to some of the locals, and hear the different dialects, and also do a tour of the street performers and jazz musicians...Maybe they could even play us some jazz...That would be soooo cool...I can't wait to come back to New Orleans...I just love it there..
We are considering a tour of the town the Robi, Andrew, and James hail from. Stayed tuned for that one.
I agree.. locals...hear the dialects...music...love your videos...so entertaining and educational...love the raw truth y'all provide...keep up the great work...
I appreciate the mention of your grandma! Our ancestors are so important!
Rightly said. Thanks for watching!
Hey Robi & Andrew, it's Cajun Queen Tours! I saw y'all while on my pedicab with customers. I also have a Black Code tour that I say isn't taught in the HIStory books. I always bring them to your Vodou shop too. I hope to see y'all around more often. You're both AWESOME!! I love seeing the people in Treme daily.
Hey🙋🏾♀️ I saw you in the video. When I come, I hope to grab one of your tours, I love the rides too🤭. They add a different element!
Great video!
Louisiana native here (from Alexandria).
Amen to the “okra” and “gumbo” statement! 🤣
Ain’t no carrots, kale, tofu or raisins in no gumbo!! Love these videos; they’re so informative!
Gregory, the culture is so different between north of Lafayette (Alexandria) and the southern parts of Louisiana. The food taste different from Lafayette to NOLA. Some of the creole history in this video I don't agree with. But interesting as is with information.
Amen, no carrots, kale, in Gumbo, from Y'ALL 1st Cousin's 🇨🇱
@@znayJ Hello Cuz. BOURGEE' here.
@@cbourgeois538 Bourg? By Houma? Sorry if it's a dumb question😂 Houma here:)
As a trumpet player from Mississippi, Louis Armstrong was BIG as a southern representative of The Best Jazz
Lmaooo I thought Robi looked familiar and then I realized that he was on a Ghost Adventures episode! I’m assuming he’s a local celebrity of sorts
I know this video is 6 months old and you might not read the comments but the tale of how Congo square was used as a gathering, communal place to keep the culture and religion alive, and music.. man its beautiful. I live in Montreal which is in what used to be new France. A cousin colony to yours. Got a big Haitian and Creole community, and every Sunday folks to this Day still gather to drum and socialize at the top of our mountain. We can it going to the Tam Tam and it's a real treat.
Glad that you enjoyed the video, Kimo. We read every comment and we love Montreal. If you haven't already done so, hopefully, you can check out our other virtual tours of New Orleans czcams.com/play/PLpNEdLF6RWV3oDPK7SD9GOttlhvaGBsh2.html.
I am the decent of Gulah, Beaufort SC. I am truly amazed about you both describing Treme and how some gaps in culture has been addressed. N.O. has so much more to offer than the French Qtr. My next time there I will have to take a foot tour into Treme. Thank you!!!!!!!
Very nice to see the black section of New Orleans the Treme I loved the tomb of the unknown slave very powerful to me look forward to seeing more Treme history Awesome
I would love to know more about the unknown slave monument. I love Robi he is so fun loving and how he shares his heritage makes you want to learn more about the history. Which everyone no matter color should know & appreciate.
You guys complement each other so well.
The way you present your city's history is so refreshing & really informative.
Soon as the Plague lifts, I'll be booking a flight.
Thanks y'all.
Look us up when you are here. We'd love to show you around.
Sher....me too🕯
I said the same thing watching one of the other videos. I would definitely book with free tours by foot.
I am so glad I stumbled onto this channel ! Robi is AMAZING ! He really makes you feel and understand the things that were hidden or other wise just not spoken of ! Please . please Keep Robi in here ! Love Love him !!!!!

Love High Priest Robi!
The culture transforms as needed, but the tradition stays the same. And yes, my family is from Southern Louisiana, and did live in New Orleans.
Robi seems so much more relaxed in this video. From the very first one of these videos I watched I wanted Andrew as a tour guide, now I want both of them. I don't even care what part of the city we tour, I just enjoyed their chemistry together. We are heading to New Orleans in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to get there! Kudos on another entertaining and informative video!
How was your visit? Did you get a chance to book with them??
@@sleepqueen1350 Our trip was amazing but unfortunately we ran out of time before we ran out of things to do so we weren't able to catch one of their tours. I'm hoping to try again on a future trip to The Big Easy.
I love this. Grew up on Treme St. 1000 block. Played in the park or St Augustine church yard till the street lights came on. My family still own the property there. My nanny just passed in February. I’m in Illinois now. Ty for the tour.
It's an honor, Tina. Thanks for tuning in.
I still remember as a kid, watching Louis Armstrong's funeral on tv
Hi from Trinidad and Tobago. I really want to say your videos are a breath of fresh air. The teaching of the history and religion is really awesome. So much more of this needs to get done to destroy some of the crazy stereotypes especially around african religions. Great job!!!
You are welcome and thanks for watching, Basil! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please do share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
#theneworleansthree I love it!! Give us more!!! You guys truly have a great chemistry and your knowledge is unrivaled.
More to come!
That was FANTASTIC! When I visited New Orleans, some years ago, I really didn't see much more than the French Quarter and the Garden District, so I really appreciated this visit to the Tremé and learning about what a wonderfully rich and culturally important neighborhood it is. I really enjoy watching Andrew and Robi walking and talking together and I LOVE that they and James are old friends (Nice to see you James!). These videos popping up in my subscription list literally make me squeal with happiness and I am really looking forward to a food-centric tour as well as a ghost/vampire tour (fingers crossed!). Take care you guys! Sending love from Oregon ❤
We love it. We will be publishing the food tour video at some point over the next 2 to 3 weeks.
So THAT’S where Holy Family started!! They have schools all over Louisiana.
The more you know!
Really enjoyed this one you guys and really love your longstanding friendship and interaction.
O:21 Love, love, love that shirt on Robi. Wish that more black Americans would wear this attire. It's beautiful.
Thank you for your channel and all of the useful information. I always wanted to live in New Orleans. The heat and humidity however would not be comfortable for me. I will eventually visit during the winter months this coming year.
Glad it was helpful! Look us up when you get down. We'll show you around.
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ Will do, thanks ☺
I love Robi. He’s so knowledgeable and entertaining. I wanna take a tour by him when I finally make it to New Orleans.

The show Treme was the reason I feel in love with New Orleans, I knew so much about the culture/history and felt such a connection and had never visited. Once I had the opportunity to go I felt like it was such a familiar place as if it was home. This place will forever have a special place in my heart!
This channel is A WHOLE VIBE for me. I live in Pennsylvania but ALL of you together feel like Home.

More Treme and more Robi please!
Thank you Robi and Andrew for another great tour!
As a fellow New Orleanian....good job!
Thank you for the "gumbo" reference, because it is so true. LOL!
You bet!
Hoping that the city will fix the gate of Louis Armstrong park on St. Philip that leads to Treme. It would be lovely to see the roses there, at the park as they are there for everyone to enjoy.
Agreed!
I was born in Georgia till I was 12. Then moved to New Jersey, I always wanted to go back to the South. I have been in NC, SC, Florida and New Orleans, I never felt more comfortable till New Orleans, I love it there. Can’t wait to go back. I have seen every video from you guys, I have learned ALOT from your videos,KEEP DOING THEM! I will definitely look you up when I go back!

Roby, Andrew... thank you, thank you, thank you!! I was not born in New Orleans... hell, I wasn't even born in the US! But i fell in love with New Orleans and moved there in the late 90's, because I learned that it is not where you're born, it is where you belong. Sadly, I moved away in 2000, and ever since then I've been working on making my way back home to my beloved N'awlins. Next time I'm in town for Jazz Fest, I'll look you up! Once again, thank you for making this misplaced New Orleanian's life a bit more bearable. Laissez Le Bon Temp Roulez!
Thanks again for watching our video, Lori. We are glad that we could refresh your happy memories about our beloved city.
We watched the Sunday drumming ceremony so so beautiful
Very informative tour new Orleans 👍🏿👍🏿
💛 Amazing Walk in New Orleans 💛
🤍🤍
🧡 Greetings from the French Riviera in 4K 🧡
I visited New Orleans last year (loved it!) and I tried to access Louis Armstrong Park from the Treme side. I did notice those long foreboding gates. I was so confused on how to enter the park. I thought it was closed. I thought that was strange.
Love, love, love your channel! I was a business traveler from 2006-2011 and my old stomping grounds was New Orleans. I gained 20 pounds because of the good food! And the men, one word (gentlemen)! My favorite neighborhoods are St. Roch, Gentilly , Mid City and Algiers. I just discovered Edna Karr High school band and they are AWESOME!!!. I hope the travel channel picks up guys up. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!
Love it!! We are talking about an Algiers tour and eventually we may get to all of those cities, that is assuming the Travel Channel doesn't steal them away from us :).
Four years ago, in March, I was in a tour group that did the same walk. The airport changed to Louis Armstrong airport on NOLA. Last time I was in New Orleans the airport had another name.
Wow I miss New Orleans now. Lived there for a few months as a child.
Treme FESTIVAL IS AMAZING
Robi's accent is wonderful ! Dreamy !
Thanks for the compliments Antoine. Keep loving and keep watching .
Ase! Thank you for getting off the porch and telling the truth Cherie! So proud of you and so proud of our Creole Heritage. Remmen Ou!
As a history lover, thank you for pulling no punches when talking about the racist past that white wash it. Robi tells it like it is.
A few years ago my husband and "found" New Orleans and it's our happy place! Since then we celebrated our 25th anniversary there, three trips last year and we're coming again in about a month. This city has that je ne sais quois. If you feel it, you know. We hope to retire there one day and we'll be reaching out to Kayla, for sure! I just love all ya'll's energy and personalities. Robi just makes my heart happy. 💗💗 I recently found your channel and we definately hope to take a tour with you next month.

Another fantastic video Andrew and Robi! So great- thank you so much. I love the Treme. When I moved back to Toronto after living in NOLA in the 90's, I would talk about the Treme as being so very special but it was so hard to translate. I was so happy when the show came out- made people understand what I had been on about. By the way- I grew up Catholic but don't practice, but when I lived in the Marigny, I would go to St Augustine's for the holidays. At Easter time, on Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, the Pastor rode in on a real donkey. It was awesome. When Katrina hit I was very concerned with the citizens, of course, but I also had a little worried wonder about the church donkey that, rumour had it, was tethered in the Lower 9th. It was a very long time ago...Thanks again guys- keep them coming!
I love NOLA! I ate so yummy when I was there, and people were genuinely friendly. As a New Yorker I felt the culture shock and fell in love. I can't wait to go back!!!!! Thank you guys for telling me the story, even after I was there. I felt the presence at Armstrong park, I felt the energy left behind. It meant every thing to me.
Thanks for sharing!! Glad you enjoyed your trip throughout.
LOVE you guys. Kia ora from Aotearoa (New Zealand). Love SO much how you share the "real" history of New Orleans. A few nights ago I dreamt I was there and since then keep having New Orleans things pop up so feel I'm being called there. Thank-you for sharing your rich and important history and culture. I love learning about other cultures and history through people who are authentic so truly appreciate you both and look forward to more vids. Take care, peace.

Cracking up at the “bless her little heart.” That is code for so much more in Southern culture
Thank you so much for your videos! I am currently visiting New Orleans with my daughter to help her/us reconnect with our Creole heritage. This video was very informative and enjoyable to watch!
